SUMMER STAGES THEATRE CAMPS JULY 10 – 28, 2017 Summer Stages is Theatre 3x60’s summer educational theatre program for youth 10 - 18 years and adults. This summer we are offering single week sessions in performance, production skills and playwriting, and a two week pre-professional performance intensive program. Participants work with trained professionals in all programs to have fun, and develop both theoretical and hands on skills. While we give participants the opportunity to present/display their achievements in a public forum at the end of each session, our focus is on process and personal growth in a supportive collaborative environment.              

   

                 

 

 

             

   

Playing on Stage: Performance and Stagecraft (1 week session) July 10 – 14, 9:30 – noon (ages 10 – 12) July 17 – 21, 9:30 – noon (ages 13 – 15) Have fun in this playful approach to performance and stagecraft. Acting is so much more than being in the right place at the right time, delivering the right lines. Whether in the ensemble or carrying a leading role, actors need to be versatile, adventurous and open to playing in the rehearsal process to truly be alive on stage. Come play with us and explore a variety of warm-up, rehearsal and performance techniques that come together on stage at the end of the week. Playing on Stage programs will be run by members of Theatre 3x60’s summer company and is suitable for new and experienced performers. Fee: $95.00 (ONLY $85.00 before June 15) Building The Playground: Production Skills (1 week session) July 10 – 14, 10 am – 4 pm (ages 13 and up) The set is the actors’ playground and Building the Playground gives participants hands on experience with several set decoration and props making techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore a variety of props and costume construction techniques and tips. Work created during the week will be seen on stage and used by the Pre-Professional Intensive students as part of their end of session presentataion. Building the Playground will be led by professional scenic artist, Melanie Baker. Adults welcome. No previous theatre or art experience required. Fee: $175.00 (ONLY $150.00 before June 15)

Playmakers: Introductory Playwriting (1 week session) July 24 – 28, 1 – 4 pm (ages 13 and up) Explore the power of words and learn playwriting fundamentals in this unique course that highlights the creative process of creating work for the stage. Through word games and exercises, participants will create individual and group pieces for presentation by themselves and participants in the pre-professional performance intensive program. Playmakers will work with Theatre 3x60 artistic director, Carey Nicholson and local playwrights. Fee: $95.00 (ONLY $85.00 before June 15) Pre-Professional Performance Intensive (2 week session) July 17 – 21, 24 – 28, 10 am – 4 pm (ages 15 – 18) This program takes the next step towards professional theatre training, with in depth, specific work on theatre voice and movement, warm up and rehearsal skills, character analysis and scene study. Recommended for participants who may be considering post-secondary theatre and are ready for a more challenging program. Program instructors include artistic director, Carey Nicholson, Theatre 3x60 educational instructor and independent actor, Alex Courey and members of Theatre 3x60’s summer company. Admittance to the program is by application and previous theatre experience is required. For an application form, click here.
