Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict
ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our littleones, and all our substance.-Ezra 8:21
I would like to thank my God and Savior Jesus Christ for his grace and mercy in
my life and his bountiful blessings, which he has provided. Every detail that I
understand about juice fasting is provided by his grace and I also believe that the
very ability to accomplish an effective fast for whatever purpose it might be is by
his grace.
I would like to thank my wife and mother for all their hard work and labor of love.I am blessed to have you both in my life.
To my brothers that went before me in the faith, William M. Branham, Bishop G.E
Patterson, Martin Luther, John Wesley, Don Basham and the many others whose
lives of prayer and discipline have been such a source of inspiration and have
given me the foundational work to build on. I am ever so grateful. If my life ends
having accomplished a small fraction of what you have done for the Lord Jesus, I
will have been successful.
To you the reader: What would a book be without someone to read it? I thank you
for your time and attention and trust that this information will be of use and a
blessing to you as it has been to me. Knowing that you are out there somewhere
and have enough interest to pick up a copy of this journal and read it, is a big factor
in the motivation to write it. May God richly bless you is my prayer.

Disclaimer and Statement of Intent
It is my hope that the benefits that I have received from all the years of juice
fasting can also in some way be of service to you the reader. This journal is not a
how to juice fast guide, but rather a how I fasted in July of 2011 record. It is arecord of my 2011 juice fasting experience. In my early years of learning how to
juice fast, the journals of others who had successfully completed a juice fast were a
tremendous source of encouragement, inspiration, as well as useful information. It
is my intention to pass a flicker of the torch of inspiration to someone else who
perhaps is somewhere along the same road. This journal is a record of one 30 day
fast, undertaken by someone with a fair amount of experience, as well as the trial
and error that comes along with gaining such experience. Neither this journal nor
myself are the authority on juice fasting. There are many people that juice fast.
Many have done much longer fasts than myself and have much more experience
than myself. Some propose rules and guidelines for the most proper and effective
way to juice fast. There are many different ways to fast. Fasting is a discipline of
self-denial. Ones approach to fasting generally has much to do with their
mentality, objectives, and beliefs and of course knowledge about the subject. For
that reason, I have not taken a position on how to fast but rather how I fasted
and accomplished these results at this point in time. Juice fasting can be
dangerous if done incorrectly. I am certain that my juice fasting technique can be
improved and no doubt there is a more efficient way to do what I do and
information that perhaps I lack. Regardless of that fact, I do what I do because it
works for me and always has. It may not be the best method, but it is my current
method.
There are coaches, clinics and retreats available to those who can afford the
expense and investment of professional guidance and training. Juice fasting most
certainly is a skill and the failure rate is high for those who attempt it in an
unskilled way. Most intelligent people do not prepare for a long, physically
challenging race without some kind of coaching, especially if they have never
completed such a race. The same intelligence should be applied to fasting, especially longer fasts. Those with health concerns and diverse kinds of physical
ailments need to approach juice fasting with due regard for their health condition.
It is my advice to anyone attempting any kind of fast to consult a competent
physician or professional who is knowledgeable on the subject prior to starting,
and throughout the process. This journal is for information purposes only and not
to be taken in the place of competent medical care or the advice of your physician.

The Significance of Maintaining a Healthy pH Balance
Potential of hydrogen (pH) levels determines the degree of acid and alkaline (base)
in the bodys tissues and fluids. The pH scale measures from 0 14 with 7 beingthe neutral point with equal concentrations of both. Although pH balance in the
body consists of equal concentrations of both acid and alkaline, its in an alkaline
environment that the body endures best. The human body constantly strives to
maintain a healthy pH level because when the balance is disrupted, an assortment
of health problems will occur.
A balanced pH level is thought to be within the range of 7.2 7.4 on the pH scale.
However, the ideal pH level will vary from one individual to another, so a healthy
pH level is considered to be between 6.8 and 7.5. Any substance with a pH lower
than 7.0 is considered to be acidic, and above 7.0 is considered to be alkaline.Symptoms of pH imbalance are weight gain or loss, acne, allergies, and on a more
serious level, problems associated with aging include arthritis, heart troubles and
other diseases. To obtain a healthy pH level, a proper diet should consist of 80%
alkalizing foods and 20% acid-forming foods. Eating more green foods
(vegetables) will produce a healthy alkalizing pH diet.
Acidosis is the state of being overly acidic and alkalosis is the state of having too
much alkaline in the system. Acid forming foods are used to build and alkalizing
foods are used to cleanse. Too much of either is unhealthy. Many expert healthofficials consider the imbalance of acid and alkaline in the human body to be a
basic cause of disease, particularly because an overly acidic environment weakens
the body systems, curtailing their ability to function properly. Most people who
suffer from unbalanced pH levels are acidic. When elimination through the urine
and perspiration isnt enough to neutralize or rid the body of the excess acid, the
body is forced to take minerals from the bones and organs. If this process continues
and goes undetected for a long period of time, severe impairment to bodily
functions can occur.
The human body can properly absorb and digest minerals and nutrients only whenthe pH levels are balanced. When theres an imbalance, ingesting healthy nutrients
will mean little because the body isnt able to use and distribute them correctly.
Water: The Life Force of the Human Body
Its imperative that the human body receive adequate amounts of clean water on a
daily basis. Its hard to believe that this colorless, odorless and tasteless substance

6
can be such a crucial component in sustaining life, and yet even the average person
with little knowledge about the human body recognizes this fundamental fact.
Water is the one essential element that all life must have to exist. Without it, the
human body would wither away in much the same ways as plants and flowers do.Dehydration (lack of water) is second only to oxygen deprivation (lack of oxygen)
when it comes to describing the swiftest way to extract the body of its life force.
The human body consists of 75% water, which happens to be a solution that also
contains salt similar to the salt in seawater. This water solution dissolves,
processes, and distributes the nutrients throughout the body.
Maintaining pH balance is vital to cellular health, which are the building blocks of
the body. Besides maintaining healthy pH levels, other benefits of water are
helping to regulate body temperature, carrying oxygen to all the cells of the body,
and it maintaining muscle tone. In addition to maintaining the bodys pH balance, water is also critical for the elimination of wastes and toxins. Without water, not
only will the cells, blood and organs be unable to perform their normal functions,
but also waste products must then be stored in the interstitial spaces surrounding
the cells and organs. If wastes arent eliminated, it will accumulate and prevent the
cells from receiving the proper nutrition it needs to survive. If this accumulation
continues for a prolonged period of time, it forces the cells to eventually change to
compensate for the loss in order to survive. Since living with waste products and
toxins in the system isnt normal, then the cells that adapt to this unhealthy
environment wont be normal either. Hence, the body will then be dealing in anabnormal setting, which will eventually lead to the onset and progression of
disease.
The body attempts to release all acidic waste through urine and perspiration but
sometimes, because of the amount of acid buildup, this release isnt sufficient.
Drinking water will help the body to properly eliminate acid buildup and waste
products. Water is healthiest when it rests at a neutral pH level of 7.0 and higher,
containing more levels of alkaline than acid. Thus, drinking sufficient amounts of
water will not only keep the body hydrated but it will also ward off diseases.
Another less known benefit of achieving pH balance is that the body willautomatically drop to its ideal weight.
It has been stated that the human body is alkaline by design but because of
behavior, it has been transformed into an acidic foundation. Because of this acidic
nature, the pH balance has been disrupted making the body almost predisposed to
attracting molds, fungus, viruses and a host of other bacteria. Contrary to what may

7
be commonly believed, the bodys immune system isnt the first line of defense
against harmful bacteria. Maintaining pH balance is the first wall of protection.
Should bacteria successfully enter the body because of pH imbalance, then the
immune system kicks in to try and correct the problem.
Conclusion
Because the normal function of cells results in the release of acid, then its best if
people wouldnt contribute further to this acidity by eating the wrong foods and not
drinking enough water. Since an acidic environment produces a breeding ground
for germs and bacteria, its urgent that people begin to incorporate more fresh
fruits and vegetables in their diets (contributing to an alkaline environment) in
addition to drinking a sufficient amount of water.

Water: The Great Essential to Your Health
Just about everybody realizes that in order to achieve optimal health, drinking
enough fluids is a necessity. The problem today is, with other beverages being aspopular as they are and the busy lifestyle that many people have, most people find
drinking enough water every day as a very difficult task. There is a ton of
information that states that the majority of people in the United States suffer from
chronic dehydration because of not drinking enough of the very liquid that make
up every cell in their body.
The Health Benefits of Water
Every part of the human body requires water to properly function; whether it be
metabolism, brain function, or simply proper digestion. Naturally, those who drinkenough water will be less prone to issues that are the result of a reduced level of
bodily function. Among these functions are the immune system, digestive system,
and metabolism.
Maintaining a healthy metabolism is important to managing one's weight. Studies
have shown that those who drink the proper amount of water boost the number of
calories that they burn throughout the day. Water also suppresses appetite, which
would discourage people from overeating by having a glass of water just before a
meal.
Thought and memory process are a result of electrical processes through the brain
and nervous system. Brain cells are naturally surrounded by tissues that conduct
these currents and carry them to where they need to be throughout the body. These
signals, along with hormones created by brain cells, are often fueled with water.
Those who drink enough water may be less prone to reduced concentration, and
may find themselves thinking more clearly than those who do not. As hormonal
imbalances are the prime cause of chronic depression, some studies are showing
that it is possible depression is a result of a small fluid intake as well.
Many infections are thought to be made worse when less water is consumed.
Urinary tract infections are much more common when the urine is more acidic.
Water reduces the pH of the urine, which reduces the ability of the bacteria to
thrive in the urinary tract. Other infections also thrive where the bodily pH is too
high. Those who are prone to infections may find that the cause is not drinking
enough water.

Many digestive problems are curable with drinking greater amounts of water.
Constipation and irregularity are common problems, and the most common cause
is reduced water intake. Water allows the digestive system to create a more regular
system through, more or less, lubricating the digestive tract. Constipation alsocauses an imbalance of the proper amount of bacteria throughout the intestines,
which is the common cause of irregularity. Drinking the proper amount of water is
a simple solution to both of these problems.
How Much Water Should an Average Person Drink?
The amount of water a person should drink is a relatively common question.
Despite the old adage that everybody should drink roughly eight glasses of water a
day, there are a number of factors that could require one to drink more or lesswater, such as weight, activity level, or any health problems. An active person, for
example, who is working out for greater than sixty minutes or any time in weather
that is hot and/or humid, should drink an additional four to eight ounces of water
every fifteen to twenty minutes of their workout. After the workout, regardless of
the amount of exercise or humidity, it is recommended to drink between sixteen
and twenty-four ounces of water per pound lost during the workout, as anything
lost during the workout itself is water weight lost through sweating.
The average person who works out around thirty minutes a day should drinkroughly half their body weight in ounces of water. This seems like quite a bit, but
for the average person it is relatively close to the guideline of the eight glasses of
water a day. Keep in mind this is a general guideline. Heat and humidity, along
with many other factors, can cause a person to sweat or otherwise require more
water. There are a number of health problems that can exist as well that may
require drinking more water. Drinking more water than what the recommended
guidelines state won't do any harm.

Colonic Irrigation and Hydrotherapy
When people hear the word colonic, they often have an adverse reaction. When
we talk about colonic irrigation, sometimes there is a concern that rises andsometimes, even fear. Of course, there is no reason for fear or concern. Although
the process is safe and has been done millions of times and for many years, the
main reason for concern may be people's inhibitions and shyness about this part of
the anatomy. Ive been there and can understand, however, once more familiarity is
acquired, all concerns are alleviated. Then both long and short-term benefits in
health and vitality have an opportunity to occur. Without the initial orientation
though, some are too shy to give it a try. Let's look at just what is meant by colonic
irrigation and hydrotherapy.
The process goes back to at least the early Egyptians. It is mentioned in adocument called the 'Eber Papyrus' from 1500 B.C. The technique was then picked
up by the ancient Greeks who also leave a record of having benefitted. Through the
1920's and the ensuing 30 or 40 years, the procedure became quite popular.
However, like other beneficial practices, it was phased out when more 'modern'
treatments were adopted in the 1960's. It should be noted that when female
midwives were the ones delivering babies, the birth of a child was usually safe and
successful. When the 'modern' practice of male doctors - considered experts - was
introduced, accidents and incidents of a negative nature increased dramatically.
The point is simple. What might be considered modern by some, is not alwaysthe best. Those considered to be experts are not always, in fact, experts.
Colonic irrigation can also be called colon therapy or colon hydrotherapy.
Sometimes the term is just shortened to hydrotherapy. Different individuals and
practitioners have their own techniques and use terms that fit their specific style.
The process involves inserting a tube into the rectum and mildly injecting a liquid
into the colon. This tube is normally inserted only about 4cm and is not painful at
all. If there is some pain, the patient should notify the person performing the
procedure to make sure there are no conditions that may need some attention
before proceeding. This liquid can be clean, plain water or different mixtures ofherbs or other fluids. For some types of irrigation, a total of 60 liters of water is
used over approximately a 30 minute period. The water or liquid is allowed to fill
the colon until the colon is full. There is a little feeling of fullness, but less than
one feels during a regular bowel movement. When the body senses that the colon is
full, a natural desire to evacuate the colon occurs and the liquid is released.

11
At no time during the process is there too much pressure or any great pain. This
filling and then releasing process is designed to create a cleansing effect on the
colon. As the colon empties itself, this contraction causes a natural expulsion of
residue and toxins which may be left on the walls of the colon if not otherwise
treated. The patient will feel a sense of cleansing and relaxation sometimes duringor after the process is complete. Those that have experienced colonic irrigation are
aware of the build-up that can be removed from the colon as well as the beneficial
effects of colonic hydrotherapy when done correctly by a skilled practitioner.
When should colonic irrigation be done?
Colonic irrigation can be done at any time an individual feels the need. It can also
be done during times when constipation is experienced. Colonic hydrotherapy is
especially recommended by those that promote and facilitate detoxification. When
the body is undergoing a detoxification, many types of toxins may come out of the
system. It is best to flush these toxins away and not let them sit in the body toirritate or even become reabsorbed. Those undergoing a detox program should
always consult with those administering the program to find out what kind of
colonic therapy is recommended and how often. They will know what is required
by the design of their program. You will also need to be aware of what your body
is experiencing so that you can help with the efficiency of the detox. Oftentimes,
the people helping you with your detoxification program will also be able to
administer colonic irrigation or recommend to you someone that can. Don't be shy
about asking all the questions you need to ask until you are comfortable and
familiar with the process. You'll feel better once you have a chance to experiencedetoxification and colonic therapy when administered correctly by professionals.
Everyone is born with a slightly unique colon. When we look at models of the
body as plastic molds or paper posters, the colon itself is made to appear simpler
than it actually is. Most people have twists and turns and even loops in their colon.
Some have one as short as 3 feet and some are as long as 11 feet. The colon - also
called the large intestine - is actually composed of several sections: the appendix,
the ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, the sigmoid colon
and finally the rectum. This is not a simple part of the body.
If you are on a detoxification program or considering colonic irrigation, this may
be an excellent choice for you. A quick search on the Internet will bring to light
many success stories related to this technique for cleaning the body of toxins and
restoring health. You won't find practitioners making great claims of cures and
miracles, but you will find individuals that swear by the effects - sometimes
dramatic and life changing - that they experienced personally.

This leads us to a key point. Your body and your health are subjective and only
you can decide what you feel is right for you at any time. The decision can take
some time, or you may be comfortable after a few simple questions get answered.
A word of caution when seeking out a colon hydrotherapist: Find a therapist thathas been in practice for a while. There is a big difference between an experienced
colon hydrotherapist and a novice. Do NOT use a novice if you are new. If you
have never had a colonic before it would be wise to have a therapist that has been
certified for a while (several years at least), is licensed to conduct business and
presents a comfortable and professional environment for you.

Prior to the Race: My Preparation for 2011s 30 Day Juice Fast
June 20
th
2011
I am really excited to start this juice fast. As a friend put it yesterday, Its like
going on a vacation. That is so very true. As we like to define a vacation as a
positive experience that we certainly want to do again and again, a properly
executed fast is among the most wonderful experiences that I have had in 40 years
of life. It can also be like competing in a triathlon or marathon. I do have a little
experience with triathlons, and the principles of planning, preparation and the
proper execution of a long race is much like that of what many would consider a
long fast.
The keywords here are properly executed. With that in mind I have spent half of
June 2011 preparing for this juice fast. Preparing means that I need to get my body
used to not getting its fuel by eating food. Since during a fast we will be
drinking our fuel, many days in the latter half of June were smoothie days with
a meal in the evening. I spent much more time than usual with the blender out,
blending up different varieties of smoothies throughout the day. I also would
periodically juice up some fresh veggies and use super foods to further improve my
pH balance.
The objective in preparation BEFORE transition is to:
#1 Prepare the body to get its fuel from only fluids
#2 Improve my pH to have the ability to appropriately buffer acids produced
during detoxification and minimize cleansing reactions.
The week before the fast is what many fasters call the Transition period. Exactly
how long Transition should be depends entirely on the person doing the fast.
During Transition, I will further increase my consumption of freshly juiced
produce (preferably organically grown). I will also be ingesting smoothie typedrinks, soymilk, and thick soups to gradually get my body into the gear of not
actually eating food. During this time there are also no more evening meals. No
meats, breads, pastas, or anything that cant be juiced or blended in a blender.
We are creatures of habit. Although breaking habits most of the time is not easy,
for me, going from eating food to acquiring my necessary nutrition from only juice

is like changing gears. My experience is that the more you do it; the body
remembers and recognizes what you are doing and responds accordingly. It is
almost like exercising. Once you have been in shape, your body is somewhat
familiar with being in shape and as you discipline yourself to re-align it with
fitness, it gradually conforms to your will. This is not to say that it is easy.Fasting is a discipline that requires some effort, especially in the initial days. How
much effort will depend on how well I have prepared.
I will also need to take a real good look at my life and dynamics of it. Just like
looking at the course before the race, I want to know where the hills and valleys
are and incorporate these details into my game plan. I am married, have children
and work to manage just like many of you. These are facts that I need to think on
and mentally prepare for prior to executing my plan. Juice fasting would certainly
be much easier if I went to a retreat with coaches and a dozen or so other people
who were fasting too. That is not whats happening here. Although I am not at allagainst that, and I think that is how some people should approach it, I have always
fasted within the normal framework of my life. If I need to pack an ice chest with
me, I will do it. If I am the only one not eating at a family gathering, then that is
the way its going to be until I have accomplished my goal.
I will be exercising during this fast so this adds an additional element to consider.
Too much exercise, too fast will make the fast hard. However, with the right
approach and timing, I can usually physically perform well while on a juice fast. In
most cases during the early days of the fast I can actually swim, bike and run faster
and farther than when I am not on a fast. This usually does not last through the
entire juice fast and there is some loss of strength, but when the fast is complete I
always rebound stronger than I was before the fast. For this fast, once I get a feel
that it is time to turn it up on the workouts, Ill do just that.
Having considered all of these elements, I prepared for nearly two weeks prior to
Transition and prayed about the matter. I can confidently say that I feel the timing
is right for this juice fast and that I am ready to move forward.

Understanding My Metrics
I use very basic metrics to record certain aspects of my fast. This is just a way for
me to measure results. Some of these are very obvious and others I have provided a
brief explanation. In addition, some entries are not provided every single day as the
real beneficial changes from juice fasting are sometimes seen over several days or
weeks.

Supplements and Water Intake
During the course of a juice fast I will take super foods and sometimes colloidminerals to supplement nutrition and further contribute to an alkaline environment.
I do not add these items to the daily intake list although they are taken periodically.
Likewise, my water intake is also not recorded. I try to drink a minimum of 120 oz.
of water a day and more on days with exercise.

Transition: Day 1
Morning Notes:
The first day of Transition went well. I have been preparing for this fast for about
10 days prior to today. This simply means increasing the consumption of alkaline
forming foods and juices as well as replacing breakfast and afternoon meals with
smoothies and juice. For most of those days, I only ate one cooked meal, which
was dinner. So by now my body is somewhat familiar with not eating during the
day and the only real hurdle during Transition will be around dinnertime, which is
when I am used to eating.
Evening Notes:
So far, so good. Dinnertime for me is around 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm and it is now 7:15
and I don't really feel like I have missed a meal. This is a good thing and this is
how it is suppose to feel when preparation is done right. Energy today was very
good throughout the day. I took a short power nap (20 minutes) as I had my 1 year
old with me and needed to put her down. I used an enema to flush out waste as
bowel movements are really starting to slow down. This was much needed and it
always amazes me how much waste actually accumulates over just a short period
of time.

Transition: Day 2
Today was a very good second day of Transition. Energy was good most of the day
with just a slight drop in the evening. When I juiced in the afternoon, I juiced up
the actual broccoli stems, which I will not be doing again. It kind of made me feel
a little nauseated. I felt a little hungry in the evening and my wife made a butternut
squash bisque which was delicious.

Transition: Day 3
Today was great. Excellent energy and I can already feel the effects of almost
completely eliminating processed food. I exercised twice today with a 1.5 mile run
in the morning and about a 400-yard swim in the afternoon. Both workouts felt
effortless and I easily could have kept pressing but didnt want to go hard because I
am still adjusting to no food. Exercise will cause my body to call for more calories
and before I turn up the workouts I need to make sure that the kind of fuel I am
providing it is going to work without me walking around hungry. All in all it was a
near perfect Transition Day 3.

Transition: Day 4
I got a 4:30 am start this morning, which is my preferred time to start the day. I
like to have time alone to pray and study prior to doing anything else. I am already
waking up less lethargic and feel awake and alert after just a few minutes. Usually
this is not the case. Most days when I am not on a fast, getting up early can be a
challenge in itself and I have to warm up for almost 30 minutes sometimes.
Typically when I get into the fast itself I need much less sleep.

Transition: Day 5
Todays energy was kind of mediocre until after I exercised. Once I got back from
my run I was well charged and productive all day, in fact is was off the charts after
I came out from praying for a bit. It is starting to feel like a fast. I purposely wore
no deodorant all day yesterday because I wanted see if there was a decrease in
body odor, which is usually the case. As always, there is a decrease in body odor
and I didnt really smell at all. This is somewhat the usual for me going into a fast.
Mental clarity is starting to greatly improve. This is key. Last years fast I didnt
prepare nearly as well as I did for this one, and the increase in mental clarity
seemed to take longer to kick in.
I have cut out dairy products, which I was getting from the goat yogurt in thesmoothie. This mornings smoothie consisted of just the fruit, a little soy, 1 tsp. of
almond butter and ice. My objective will be to eliminate the soy in the next day or
so and hopefully be off the smoothies starting Friday. From then on it will be
juices and broths. I also picked up some Teeccino, which is a herbal drink kind of
like coffee, but much healthier.
In addition to cutting the goat yogurt, Ill also be cutting the almond butter. It sure
is tasty and adds a little weight to the smoothie, but time for it to go.

Transition: Day 6
Today was an alright day. I wasnt bursting with energy, most likely from lack of
sleep. I went to bed late and was up early, so that is never a real good combination
to facilitate energy. Most of the day today was spent relaxing and in solitude. Most
of the time I cannot sleep in the middle of the day and although I tried, I was
unable to sleep for more than 20 minutes. In addition to the lack of sleep, my
stomach is undergoing cleansing which isnt always the most comfortable thing to
experience. The gurgling and bubbling as well as the constantly having to go to the
restroom are why I opted for solitude today. :)
In any case I made it through the 6thday of Transition and the level of difficulty
was very low, as it should be. Anytime the difficulty level is high it usually means
that I havent adequately prepared by consuming enough alkalizing foods prior tothe juice fast. It takes sufficient alkalinity to buffer the toxic load produced when
the body is house cleaning. Insufficient alkalinity and the juice fast becomes
difficult and the host tends to have many more negative symptoms like headaches,
flu like symptoms, cold sores, and a whole boat load of others.
This is why I spent an extra 10 days prior to transition to alkalize so as too
minimize any kind of reactions and have a good fasting experience. So far it seems
as though my pre-fast effort was sufficient.

Transition: Day 7
Good day today. I slept in until a little after 6:00 am. Today was very productive
and I was able complete a lengthy project even with my 1 year old at home. The
mental clarity was off the charts and I could not pull myself away from the
computer. I sipped on broth most of the day and did not juice anything green, or
anything at all for that matter. I got so much into my project that I didnt want to
stop and take the time to juice something fresh like I should have. Oh well, thats
life. Ill make up for it tomorrow. I certainly dont want to do that regularly
because I do need those nutrients. Tomorrow is the official start of the juice fast. I
havent had a smoothie or any soup in two days because I wanted to see how my
body would act. I supplemented with Rice Dream, which of course isnt living,
but it also isnt as heavy as a smoothie or soup, so it can kind of give me a feel forhow ready I am.
Non-living products like soy, nut milks, rice drinks and so forth, slow down the
detoxification process. They are great if one is having too many cleansing reactions
and there is a need to slow the detox down a little bit. The objective during my
juice fast is to keep taking those products to a bare minimum if at all, and
maximize the detoxification.
I didnt take any colon cleansing products until the evening time. Just didnt feel
like dealing with the stomach discomfort during the day and I dosed up onChomper a couple of hours before bed. Ill need to continue the colon cleansing for
a few more days during the first part of the fast.

Juice Fast: Day 1 -Video
I woke up at 5:30 am and felt fine but I did not take enough psyllium husk powder
yesterday as I should have and as a result my stomach was not cooperative. When I
take colon cleansing products like Chomper and do not follow shortly with
psyllium husk powder, then there is not sufficient bulk to sweep the waste out.
Since I have been off smoothies for a couple of days, there is really not much bulk
to anything I am ingesting and consequently I have a lack of movements. This
would be ok if the colon was already well cleaned and we were 10 days or so into
the fast. I wouldnt really expect any movement then. But because we are still
colon cleansing, movements need to be regular in order to get all the waste out.
The best quality colon cleansing products will do me no good if the waste is notcoming out. Having used the proper herbs without sufficient output is a recipe for
discomfort. Because we do many things by habit, colon cleansing is something that
has to be tackled much like house cleaning. I dont always feel like cleaning my
house, but it needs to be done regardless of whether I feel like it or not and if I
want it cleaned right then I need to do it right.
Much of juice fasting and cleansing has to do with doing what needs to be done
and not necessarily what one feels like. This is the very nature of discipline and
why I have never termed my juice fast juice feasting. In 15 years of fasting, it
has never felt like feasting to me. It is certainly an enjoyable experience whendone correctly, but to me, feasting and fasting are like day and night. I love a high
quality rib eye steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes with a glass of top-notch
Merlot. That is more feasting in my book.
Of course I cant always feast. That is a recipe for health problems and primarily
the reason why so many people are so sick in the United States. I worked as a
paramedic for a few years, so I got a front row seat in observing some of the
common health problems that people suffer everyday. Sadly, the majority of 911
calls are for medical emergencies that have their origin in an underlying medicalcondition, most of which are preventable.
Worthy accomplishments require discipline. It is a law, like the law of production
or the law of gravity, and the accomplishment of health in a predominantly
unhealthy civilization requires some level of discipline. I have always respected
and admired raw food enthusiast and practitioners.

I think a raw food diet is a superior diet and perhaps Ill take on that lifestyle one
day. I dont know, we shall see.
The overall day was fine even though my stomach wanted to do its own thing
today. Todays intake outline will reflect what my colon-cleansing regimen is
supposed to look like.

Juice Fast: Day 2 - Video
Day 2 was chill. I spent time with my two babies and took care of a few things
around the house. I felt good today but energy was more of a calm stable kind of
energy than a "charged up and ready to go" kind of energy. I took a long nap in the
middle of the day for almost two hours and it seems that I am getting better rest the
last few nights as well. I took my colon-cleansing regimen today and although I
certainly prefer a clean colon, I don't like the process of colon cleaning. I will most
likely take a break from the regimen tomorrow.
I made a new broth today that I really liked. Broths add a nice touch and can be
surprisingly strengthening. I drank about 6 cups of broth and felt stronger in the
evening than I did during the day.About an hour after the broth I went for an evening run and even though my colon
cleansing products were doing their thing, it was a good run.

Juice Fast: Day 3 -Video
This is the first day I actually woke up and felt like eating. It was kind of odd
because it has been awhile since I actually felt "hungry" but we handled it fine.
Yesterday's run kicked up my appetite a little which is why I wanted to take the
workouts slowly. Energy today was not what I like it to be. I didn't "feel" like
being productive even though I ran some errands and did what I needed to. It
wasn't at all a bad day, just not as upbeat as Id like. I am glad to be taking a break
from colon cleansing products. My stomach feels much better and is at ease.

myself for a triathlon later this year if all goes as planned. I havent raced in two
years so it certainly would be great to be in the atmosphere again. It is so easy to
slip into inactivity and allow lifes to dos to snuff out vibrancy. Too many of us
make health and fitness a priority only when we get a bad report from the
physician.
Although I think that it is great when one gets into shape to regain their health and
take back the level of fitness that they are entitled to, I would prefer not to haveto be ill in order to get motivated. I have been active ever since I can remember,
and even the years where I cant remember all the details, my mother tells me that I
was an incredibly active little boy.
Unfortunately, although I have fitness programming running in my subconscious
from all the years of working out, I dont always have a consciously active running
program like I should. In other words, I tend to let my workouts slide. Now at 40
years old, in my opinion, it is essential to maintain an active lifestyle.
As I get older, even though I have the ability to rebound and get back to anacceptable level of fitness, it is not as easy as 5 years ago. This is where juice
fasting comes into play and is such a blessing because it can seemingly stop the
clock.
I expected to get hungry in the evening because of this mornings work out. The
call for more calories came around 5:00 pm and lasted for a few hours. Of course it
doesnt help that it is Independence Day for us and a gathering at my sisters home
presented a wide array of food choices. Ahh yes.discipline.

Juice Fast: Day 5 - Video
I went to bed last night with an incredibly bad stomachache and woke up mildly
bloated. For me, the stomach issues this early in the fast usually mean that I still
have much work to do cleaning out the colon. So I flushed out multiple times today
with a 2-quart enema and sure enough, I had quite a bit of old waste coming out.
Even after todays regimen, I don't feel I'm done. I contacted a colonic
hydrotherapist and it looks like she's going to allow me to come in and not only
have a professional colonic done but maybe interview her about the process and
their services as well. This should be good stuff and I am looking forward to
bringing on the big guns.
I have cut my coffee intake in half and I must say that it feels a little odd. My
energy is good, but I feel much more calm and not as anxious as I sometimes feel, especially when I have multiple tasks that I am trying to accomplish. I tried to kick
the caffeine with last years juice fast but I was just not well prepared to do it. I am
a long time coffee drinker, but I think this time we got it whipped.

Juice Fast: Day 6
Time is really flying by. After 6 days of juice fasting, I am so far very pleased with
the results and also very happy with the fact that I have not had any cleansing
reactions whatsoever. This is not to say that I wont have any, but even if I do, the
intensity and frequency of such have been minimized by proper preparation.
I pressed myself a little harder in the pool today and swam 1000 yards. It felt great
to be able to step it up a little and as usual, the energy was great. The only reason I
didnt do more is because I want to be careful with really working out hard so as to
not have any problems while on a fast. I know what to expect from my body when
I press it hard not being on a juice fast, but while on a juice fast I am going to use
caution. The accomplishment of a 30 day juice fast is more important than
increasing my work out capacity. After the fast is over, Ill be able to makesignificant gains in my work outs in much less time.
