    CHINESE FESTIVALS Annual highlights start with Chinese New Year. Apart from the night parade and the reworkdisplay in the harbour, festive feasting, lion and dragon dances, Chinese opera, mahjong andcarnivals combine to create a uniquely festive atmosphere seen nowhere else in the world.

    The Tuen Ng festival at the start of summer, marked by the staging of theInternational Dragon Boat Festival, is hugely colourful and entertaining.Hong Kongs connection with the sea is brought to the fore as hundredsof racers take to the water in narrow dragon boats. All around theterritory at many separate events, these teams paddle for all theyreworth.

    CITY LIGHTS Almost every shopping mall, store and restaurant puts considerableeffort into making its festive decorations the brightest and the best.Even the buildings light up at night to add festive are to the worldsmost famous skyline. Around town there are themed activities andpromotions to celebrate.
