Getting Back
into the GrooveBy Tianna Meyer
Getting back into the groove of school can really be a task. After a long summer of sleeping in and taking it easy, students have to learn to wake up early, stop procrastinating, and study well. In this article I’ll be teaching you how to do just that!
Waking up early for school is probably one of the hardest things to get used to. Going to bed early is the best solution, but with school or sports it may not be the easiest. A simple hack is to put your alarm clock farther away, so it’s harder for you to hit that snooze button. Rewarding yourself also does wonders, if you wake up early do so by making a nice breakfast.
As a high schooler it’s hard to stay motivated, and even harder to stop procrastinating. One way to stop procrastination is to do a task then treat yourself after it is complete. For example, work on half of your math then reward yourself with a break on your phone before you get back to work. It’s also important to remember where procrastinating gets you in the long run, which is mildly panicked.
Studying is a major thing that will help get you through any form of schooling. An important study tip is to stay organized by writing down assignments and test dates. Make sure you are in a distraction-free zone. Highlighting key words or phrases helps many or reciting and practicing over and over. Asking teachers for help is a great source, and in our school, students are encouraged to do that.
Hopefully these tips help you to continue on with a successful school year!
only interview.” He received his teaching degree and graduated
from Mayville State University last December. He also substituted and
taught in the spring. Mr Klocke likes the small class sizes and he
said, “I like seeing the friendships and the almost brother and sister relationships they have.” He also likes it when students participate
and ask questions. He has 12 nieces and nephews and he will
read anything related to the Lord of the Rings. One inspirational quote
that he wants to share with us is: “Whether you can or you can’t,
you are right.”

The Tri-State Tiger Volleyball team is currently 3-8 and the team is doing better than last year which is an improvement.
Kallie Grefsrud, a freshman on the team, said, “Your team becomes your family, the ball becomes your best friend, the
court becomes your home, and the game becomes your life”.
Madison Steffens earned Student of the Month for September. She is involved in many activities and has earned many
awards. She attended the banquet and she was recognized for her accomplishments. One question I asked Madison was, “What
made you push yourself to get student of the month?” She answered with: “I was really proud of myself when I got told I was the
September student of the month. All of the late nights, busy days, and hard work paid off. Also, being in multiple extracurriculars and involved with your community really
push you to always do well, but also having such a great sister to look up to helps with
pushing yourself to do even better.”
The Tri-State Tiger Football team at this point is 4-2. Compared to last year they have a great
start to their football season. The team is working together better
and they are doing well.
Senior Robert Mendoza said, “It’s not about how big you are

Two of Fairmount’s staff members were asked what they did to prepare for the upcoming weeks leading up to the start of the school year. Here is what they said:
Our Math teacher, Mr. Wrolstad, says he makes sure he has all the supplies he needs while also spending a lot of time on making grading books and lesson plans.
Our Tech. Coordinator and Business teacher, Mrs. Dahlgren, has to worry about making sure all the technology is ready for the students. She says that her classes typically stay the same, so she doesn’t need to do much to prepare for them.
