Catcher Shauna Bardnitz of Nazarath College hits a ball toward the College of St. Benedict's third-baseman Kristen Herges in a non-conference softball game on March 16. St. Benedict won the game 2-0 to continue a three game winning streak at Oseola Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.

Sr. Cortez Ham (34) of Central/Denfeld High School meets Jr. Austin Pohlin (33) of Grand Rapids at the hoop at the St. Luke’s Orthopedic & Sports Medicine All-Star Game held at Duluth East High School on March 29. The top High School boys basketball players from the Duluth area and the Iron Range played against each other. A 3-point and dunk competition preceded the game.

Freshman goalie Aaron Crandall allows a goal during warmups for the UMD Bulldogs prior to the opening playoff game versus St. Cloud State University on March 11. The Bulldogs won the game 4-2 and wrapped up the series with a 3-2 overtime win the next night. The Bulldogs next play Notre Dame on April 7 in the NCAA Frozen Four.

Catherine Hazelroth rides Leos Little Uno while participating in a cutting clinic on March 19 at Janssen Performance Horses in Rush City, Minn.  The object of cutting is to separate a cow from the herd for a short period of time, and the rider and horse are judged. 

Krystal Lewis and Katie Jones try to hold off Kristine Lindgren, Angela Bode, and Katie Miller from running passed them scoring a touchdown for their team at the annual PowderPuff flag football game between the sororities of Gamma Sigma Sigma and Phi Sigma Sigma on March 22 at the UMD Griggs Field. Gamma Sigma Sigma won with a victory of 27-18.

Dylan Ice defends the point guard during an intramural basketball game Wednesday night in the Romano gym.  Ice's team won the game 54-48.

UMD Junior Brent Lundgren leaps over a hurdle with ease at track practice Mar 30. The Men's Track team will compete against Hamline this Saturday in St. Paul.

The dance lines called the dreamettes, dreamgirlz, dreamsquad and dreamteam, from dreamdance Academy, came together to perform a jazz dance to the song "Vain" at the UMD Dance Show on March 26. The UMD Dance Team performs at this show along with outside dance lines from dance studios around Duluth. The ticket proceeds from the show help the UMD Dance Team pay for their trip to the national competition in Daytona Beach, Fla. The national competition will start on April 7.

UMD Senior , Logan Hunt uses the gym in the Recreational Sports Outdoor Program at the University of Minnesota Duluth to practice his basketball skills on Mar. 29.

Alex Muller eyes up his next shot on March 2 at the Duluth Minn. Curling Club. Alex says he participates in the intramural sport as often as he can.

Intermural broomball teams play at the UMD rec-center on Feb. 22.  Broomball is one of the many intermural programs played by UMD students and is one of the fastest growing.
