(1) Bukit Nanas
On the first day of practicum, my partner and I went to meet the
GPK of SK Convent (1) Bukit Nanas, Puan Salmiah. We introduced
ourselves and gave the Surat Pengenalan Diri to her. The GPK
briefed us on the school rules and routines. After that she gave us
our timetable and introduced us to the respective teachers. She
assigned Puan Rozila as our co-operating teacher and she will be
the one who observes our practicum as well as helps us in our
teaching and learning in the classroom. Puan Rozila briefed us
about the class (the students level proficiency) that we were
assigned, scheme of work and the teaching materials (text book,
exercises and activity books). We were also allowed to use the
teaching aids provided in the school. On the second day, I went to
meet Miss Jeyamalini (3 Zamrud English Language teacher) to discuss
about the class in detail. She gave the students name list to me
for my reference. She encouraged me to use interesting teaching
aids and materials so that the students will be motivated to learn.
According to her, the classroom management should be no problem for
me as the students were easy to handle. However, she advised me to
not being too friendly to the students as they will take things for
granted. Miss Malini shared her experience on how to handle the
students and it was very helpful for me. On the last day, my
partner and I were asked to relief class as some of the teachers
were not in school. Teaching all girls is not a new experience for
me but I am still trying my best to improve my personal skills.
Therefore, relief classes are good for me to develop and reflect
myself as saying goes practice makes perfect. To conclude, my first
week was good and less pressure because we have not started
teaching yet. I hope with all the information and knowledge shared
by the senior teachers in the school, I will be able to handle my
