JOSIE M. SHEPPARD is an associate in the Firm's commercial litigation group, with aparticular practice focus in construction and surety, toxic tort, products liability, premisesliability, and personal injury. Ms. Sheppard's prior experience includes representingcompanies, municipalities and individuals in breach of contract disputes, complexcommercial litigation, personal injury matters, unfair labor practice claims and municipalprocurement litigation. Ms. Sheppard serves as a Trustee Board Member for the MonroeCounty Bar Association, Board of Director for the Volunteer Legal Services Project (VLSP)and member of the New York State Bar Association, Greater Rochester Association ofWomen Attorneys (GRAWA) and Rochester Black Bar Association (RBBA). Shepreviously served as a Board of Director for GRAWA and RBBA.
In 2015, Ms. Sheppard received the Daily Record's Up & Coming Attorney Award. As aresult of her dedication to pro bono work, Ms. Sheppard was the sole recipient in New YorkState for the 2015 New York State Bar Association President's Young Lawyer Award, aswell as a recipient of VLSP's William E. McKnight Award. Ms. Sheppard has beenconsistently named a New York State Bar Association Empire State Counsel Honoree everyyear since 2013.
Ms. Sheppard graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor's ofScience in Real Estate and Land Use Economics. She earned her Juris Doctorate, cumlaude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Ms. Sheppard is admitted topractice in the State of New York, U.S. District Court for the Western District of New Yorkand U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York.
