As you read this article, our church will have a mission team sharing Christwith college students in the Ukraine. This isn't the first mission adventure forour church this year, just the next in succession. Last week we had a team inKansas ministering and two weeks prior to that we had our Volunteer Chris-tian Builders building in Kansas City. What's coming next? In the fall, we areplanning a mission trip to West Virginia. Our plans are to host a BackyardBible Club, light construction, adult Bible studies and much more. If you'veyet to make a trip this year, then maybe this is the trip for you. Pray aboutgoing and please remember to pray for our team on the ground in the Ukraine.Last year, God brought a harvest for His glory and we know He will glorifyHimself this trip as well.

Last Sunday our hearts were saddened to hear Bro. Frank tender his resigna-tion as our Student Minister. For the past eight years, Bro. Frank and CarolBeth have touched the lives of our students by modeling and nurturing them tobecome fully devoted followers of Christ. Student ministry presents uniquechallenges and a church is blessed to have a minister who can meet those needswith the Word of God. Though our hearts are saddened by their leaving, weare confident that God is going to do wonderful things through them as theyserve our Lord in Louisiana.

Sunday night, August 1, our church willl10st a reception to honor Frank andCarol Beth. Your presence will be a blessing so please make plans to attend. We will have a table prepared where you may leave thoughts and gifts for ourhonored guests. Also, bring your appetite as well as we will have Mexican pile-ups, ice cream and cobbler. May God richly bless you and remember to prayfor one another.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!We have had a fantastic week of Vacation Bible School here at First BaptistChurch! We have enjoyed good-ies from the galley, splashy music. meaning-ful prayer time and awesome games! We've made cool crafts, learning aboutmission efforts and experienced exciting Bible stories! Thankyou, VBS crew, for all of your hard work, prayer and preparation given to this High SeasExpedition Vacation Bible School. We may never know the full impact ofVBS 2010, but we can know, without a doubt, that a great adventure with aclear Spiritual direction was mapped out for kids of Henderson this week atFirst Baptist Church!Thank you, church family, for supporting Vacation Bible School!

It's a little surreal to think that our time of ministry here at First Baptist

Church of Henderson is coming to a close. In one respect, it is...in another,

it's not. Last week, I heard from a student I had 27 years ago, and had not

heard from since then. How do we know the seeds we plant have taken root

and grown? By the fruit. Some of that fruit is long in coming. Some is not. At

whatever rate of growth, it is comforting to know that seeds have been planted

in fertile ground, and we have been blessed to watch and see God grow so

many young believers into faithful followers of Jesus Christ! The growth

will continue. That's not my opinion. That's God at work, and His Word that

we have been accurate in presenting and faithful to sow into the hearts and

minds of the good people here. Philippians 1:6 (NAS) "I am confident of this

very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day

of Christ Jesus."

Allow me to close my written word with you by reminding us all of a few

truths:

• Scripture interpretation: "Context, context, context." A passage can never

mean to us today what it could not have meant to the people to which it was

written. We must handle God's word accurately. Every word is true and right

as it is kept in context. Taken out of context, one can justify anything they

want to do.

• 1 Chronicles 26: 18 (KJV) "To Par bar westward, four at the causeway, twoat Parbar." There are people throughout scripture who we don't know of ortheir names, yet whose jobs and callings are important. So it is with each of

you. Each of you are called to do something that no one else in history is

called to do. Complete your calling in His strength.

• I Kings 8:59-61.. ...may these words of mine be near to our God that He

may 'uphold the Cause' of His servant and the Cause of His people that all

the peoples of the world may know that the Lord is God; there is no other."

• Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the well-

spring of life." There are those who would attack the hearts in a manner that

could make us ineffective. Guard your heart. It is your very life, and the life

of this church.

• Finally ...know that from the beginning of the tabernacle (Exodus), to the

Revelation to John of Jesus Christ (Revelation 2), the church has been the

"Iampstand," the light of the world, the city on a hill that cannot be hidden.

Our mission is to shine the glory of the presence of God, wherever we are.

Please continue to let your light so shine ...that your Father in heaven is glori-

fied.

• Psalm 42:7 "Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfall; yes all your

breakers wash over me." The proof of the power is deep, and is seen in the

bedrock of the rivers. Go deep with God! He is waiting!

With much love and thankfulness,

Frank Teat

TO PRAY..."To pray is to seek communion withthe very spirit of a holy God. Topray is not primarily to ask forthings, but reverently to receive aPresence. To pray is to open ourinnermost self to the royal entry ofthe eternal Lord. To pray is to ex-pose one's secret being to the puri-fying fires of God's holy grace andlove.

GRACE IS A GIFTWhen we work an eight-hourday and receive eight hour"spay for our efforts, that is aWAGE.When we compete with an op-ponent and receive a trophy forour superior performance, thatis a PRIZE.When we receive something inrecognition for our service orachievement, that is anAWARD.But when we can earn no wage, can win no prize and deserveno award - yet we receive sucha gift - that is unmerited favor. That is undeserved kindness. That is GRACE.
