    The Study

    The City of Burlington has completed a study to develop a Storm Water Master Plan for the Aldershot community. The study has addressed current and future development needs regarding the issues related to managing the impacts to � ooding, erosion, and water quality. The City of Burlington has also initiated this study to support the planned urbanization of Townsend Avenue. The Aldershot community is located in west Burlington and is generally bounded by Plains Road in the north, King Road in the east, LaSalle Park Road in the west and Lake Ontario (Burlington Bay/Hamilton Harbour) in the south (ref. Key Plan).

    Master Plan Report

    The Storm Water Master Plan, which documents the planning process and rationale for the preferred storm water strategy, will be placed on the public record for 30-calendar days. This public review period will begin on May 16, 2013 and end on June 15, 2013. Community members and interested parties are invited to review the Storm Water Master Plan and provide comments to the project team members listed below. The Master Plan Report is available for public review at the following locations:

    The Process

    The study has been conducted in accordance with the master planning process outlined in Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Municipal Engineers Association, October 2000 as amended in 2007 and 2011) document, which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. This master plan has addressed phases 1

    Aldershot Community Storm Water Master Plan Notice of Study Completion and 2 of this process, and has included public and agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, and the development of a preferred stormwater management strategy.

    The preferred storm water strategy consists of a prioritized list of capital projects in which projects that would be considered as Schedule A or B projects are pre-approved and may proceed to implementation.

    Location: Lakeshore Road from Guelph Line to Old Lakeshore Road

    Date: Tuesday, May 21 to Nov. 18, 2013

    Purpose: A new watermain will be installed on Lakeshore Road, this will be followed by the application of a new top lift of asphalt. The work will start at the intersection of Guelph Line and Lakeshore Road.

    Traffi c will be impacted as a result of this project. Lakeshore Road will be restricted to one eastbound lane only throughout the entire construction period. Traffi c will be rerouted via New Street, as shown on the location/detour map.

    Burlington Transit will detour Route 3 along New Street for the duration of the construction. Dial-a-Ride service will be offered to/from bus stop locations along Lakeshore Road (between Martha Street and Guelph Line) and south of New Street on Guelph Line, see map.
