This month we introduce you toAllison Burdick better known as Aliwho is serving as the College ofPharmacyrsquos Student Social MediaAssistant In this role she managesthe Facebook Instagram and Twitterpages for the college Ali is a currentP4 She is from Brook Park Ohioand graduated from Berea- MidparkHigh School On campus she ismost involved in her pharmacyfraternity Alpha Zeta Omega Lastyear she was social chair for thisorganization planning many eventsto deepen relationships and fosterlifelong bonds This academic yearshe is her chapterrsquos Signare a rolein which she sparks new ideas andenhances communication betweenher chapter and that national Board The first experience Ali had with UFwas at Pharmacy Camp the summerafter her junior year of high schoolThis experience really drew hercloser to the profession of pharmacyand to UF She says she knew shewanted to pursue pharmacy from ayoung age but UFs pharmacy campshowed her what Findlay was allabout She became very close withher camp counselors who werestudents themselves and was able toexperience pharmacy-basedlectures and labs Many of the otherstudents she went to camp with also

pharmacist The White Coat The UFCollege of Pharmacyrsquos annual WhiteCoat ceremony represents theentrance into the professional portionof the program On September 6members of the Class of 2023received their white coats in thepresence of almost 350 family andfriends Faculty staff the Collegersquosadvisory board the OhioPharmacists Association the OhioSociety of Health System Pharmacyand the Ohio State Board ofPharmacy also turned out to supportthese bright young studentpharmacists ldquoOne of the mostspecial aspects of this yearrsquosceremony is that the white coatswere once again sponsored in partby alumni of the College ofPharmacy It is so meaningful thatour alums even at an early phase oftheir professional careers areinspired to pay it forwardrdquo saysDean Debra Parker ldquoThat speaks sowell of our spirit of our graduatesrdquoDuring the ceremony each studentreceived their white coat and werejoined by all pharmacists inattendance in reciting the Oath of aPharmacist affirming theircommitment to excellence andservice to others Congratulations tothe Class of 2023

chose to attend UF and according toAli are some of the closest friendsI have ever made Everyone atcamp and throughout her visits andinterviews at UF was verywelcoming willing to help and toanswer any questions she hadFindlay truly feels like a home andthe pharmacy program feels like afamily The best advice Ali says shecould give to an incoming student isto be yourself and become involvedwith at least one organization thatinterests you Also never be afraidto ask for help because ourprofessors love when students cometo office hours and our tutoringcenter on campus is very helpful withundergraduate courses Findlay hasgiven me many opportunities sociallyand professionally and I am proud tobe a pharmacy Oiler

meeting in July Lea who has astrong interest in basic scienceresearch has spent significant timeconducting research in the lab andcollaborating with other pharmacystudents and faculty on numerousprojects She has a fondness forsynthetic chemistry as well as cellculture-based assays Lea alsoenjoys operating and interpretingresults from various instrumentation

on campus including 1HNMR andmass spectral data Lea haspresented numerous posters atseveral national meetings and haspublished two articles in the pastyear After graduation in spring of2020 Lea plans to pursue residencytraining or other post-graduatetraining in order to realize her long-term goals Congratulations Lea

College of Pharmacy really lives itsmission and values and itsdemonstrated every day smallerclass sizes faculty that is stronglycommitted to student successimpactful research opportunities andtailored experiential education Vadim added I vividly recall oneinstance where the professorfinished lecturing early and solicitedfeedback from the studentsregarding the course load andtimelines surrounding exams Voiceswere heard which led to subsequentchanges in deadlinesexam datesenabling students to be betterprepared I am not sure where elseyou can find this level of commitmentbut I know I found it at UF and am sograteful for faculty who were sodedicated to my success

September 19th There were thirteenstudent initiates and two new facultymembers in the incoming class Newstudent inductees included KristenBell Elizabeth Claus Sarah CrispLaurel Frasure Rachel HartmanAndrew Hepler Jacob Hill LauraInbody Rachel Kohls CassandraKuhn Nicole Recker Jacob Reyesand Cole Smith The newfaculty inductees included LoganConley and Jenna MillsThey join 131 members that havejoined the University of Findlayrsquoschapter since its founding on May

4th 2012 Rho Chi is a nationalpharmacy society honoring the topacademic scholars in the class Onlythe top 20 of the class are invitedto join the honorary each year basedupon the GPA of required pharmacycourses The vision of the nationalgroup is to advance pharmacythrough sustained intellectualleadership The UF chapter strives toachieve this by utilizing theirstrengths to offering tutoring to theirfellow pharmacy students and toorganize other service projects likeclothing drives We are so proud ofour newest members AND of ourexisting members In fact we askedour Rho Chi alums to tell us what

4th 2012 Rho Chi is a nationalpharmacy society honoring the topacademic scholars in the class Onlythe top 20 of the class are invitedto join the honorary each year basedupon the GPA of required pharmacycourses The vision of the nationalgroup is to advance pharmacythrough sustained intellectualleadership The UF chapter strives toachieve this by utilizing theirstrengths to offering tutoring to theirfellow pharmacy students and toorganize other service projects likeclothing drives We are so proud ofour newest members AND of ourexisting members In fact we askedour Rho Chi alums to tell us what

OH During his residency Loganwas able to complete a teachingcertificate program and complete ateaching rotation at Ohio Northern He fell in love with interacting withstudents According to Logan thissolified his interest in pursuing aposition in academia I am trulypleased to have joined the faculty atUF following my residencyIn his spare time Dr Conley enjoyschess playing the guitar and is anavid Columbus Blue Jackets hockeyfan This fall is Dr Conleys firstsemester here as an assistantprofessor of pharmacy practice andhe couldnrsquot be happier UF hasgiven me an opportunity to achievemy professional goals while stillallowing me to practice as a clinicalpharmacist - something I think isvery important The people at theUniversity of Findlay have welcomedme into their family with open arms I am honored to join this team ofamazing faculty

Inductees to RhoChiThe Delta Theta chapter of the RhoChi Society welcomed fifteen newmembers to its ranks on Thursday
