GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) associated with activities completed to date on the Central Landfill Operable Unit 2 Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (OU2-RI/FS). This progress report has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Section 37 of the Administrative Order by Consent, U.S. EPA Docket No. 1-87-1016. We prepared this letter on behalf of the RJJRRC in accordance with the terms and conditions of our July 1, 1997 Environmental Engineering Services Contract

PROGRESS MADE THIS REPORTING PERIOD
June 11, 1997 through July 10, 1997
DELIVERABLES AND CORRESPONDENCE THIS PERIOD
GZA has submitted the following correspondence to EPA and RJDEM on behalf of our client, the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC), during this reporting period:
1) "Surface Water Flow Monitoring Report, Central Landfill, Johnston, Rhode Island," dated June 10, 1997. This report addresses the objectives described under OU2 Task 3.
2) "Residential Well Identification Survey Report, OU2-Task 5," dated July 2, 1997. This report completes GZA's catalogue of identified water supply wells and sites of potential environmental concern within the OU2 Study Area. <«~* ' I3
GZA has not received any correspondence from EPA and/or RJJDEM regarding this project during this reporting period
During the last reporting period GZA proposed to combine both the RI and RA reports and to deliver the first draft of these documents on (or before) September 12, 1997. We also proposed to deliver the first draft of the FS report on October 31, 1997. To date we have received no commentary from either the EPA or RJDEM on this proposed OU2 RI/FS Project schedule.

WORK ACCOMPLISHED THIS PERIOD
Multi-Media Sampling and Analytical Program/Task 1- Round 2
Analytical data from the second round of sampling from the newly installed wells (see Task 4A) was received from Mitkem Corp (the CLP laboratory) in late May, 1997. The data was then sent to ECCI for Tier HI data validation, and data usability/site chemist's evaluation. We received the validated data from ECCI on June 12, 1997. This data will be entered into our chemical database and evaluated as part of the RI and RA. GZA has attacheded tabular summaries of this data to this progress report for EPA and RJDEM's use and review.
Piezometric Measurement ProgranVTask 3 A
GZA is continuing to evaluate the piezometric data collected during the 15-month monitoring program. This geohydrological data will be incorporated into the completion of the tasks described in OU2-RI and the Technical Memorandum entitled, Delineation of Groundwater Contamination Emanating from the OUl-Area. dated February 2, 1996.

Residential Well Survey/Task 5
GZA has finalized the OU2/Task 5 Residential Well Identification Survey. The results of the residential well sampling and analyses will be incorporated into the RI and RA.
During the OU2/Task 5 field program, GZA sampled residential wells for Volatile Organics Compounds, Semi-volatile Organic Compounds, PCB/Pesticides, Total and Dissloved Metals, Total Cyanide, and 15 Water Quality Parameters. Attached to this progress report are the analytical testing results for groundwater samples taken from two residential wells not-owned by RIRRC (31/004 and 43/167). GZA requests the EPA's assistance in distributing the%
validated analytical results to the residential well owners.* They are:
