Peace in the Name of Jesus Christ! On Sunday, April 24, 2016, St. Mark will celebrate Graduation Sunday for our High School Students. The day will begin for each of them with a brunch in their honor hosted by the United Methodist Women. This is always such a special time for the graduates and their families. There will celebration, fellowship, gifts and congratulations to be shared with these wonderful young folk in their accomplishment of graduation. I know you will join as the St. Mark family to offer words of congratulations to Jenna Jackson, Keisha McCrary, Ashlyn Perkins and Annika Struthwolf. We are so proud of you girls!!Congratulations to Allen Mullenix who is graduating from UA. I also want to share exciting news from the quarterly Administrative Board meeting from Sunday, April 17, 2016: work is continuing on the landscaping of the church entrance now that new entryways have been poured; work is continuing on the restoration and completion of the new children’s playground located outside the breezeway between the welcome center and the family life center entrance; within the next weeks and few months, work will begin on an upgrade to the administrative office hallway, the welcome center, the Sunday school hallway, the bathrooms located in the Sunday school hallway, the downstairs educational hallway, as well as the restroom located outside the Food Pantry. These are all projects that have needed to be done for some time…praise God the time is here to offer our facilities some needed upgrades and conti-nuity. Lastly, the Sanctuary will be getting a fresh coat of paint, needed rehab in areas and new light bulbs around the perimeter. I want to thank our Trustees for all their hard work, and Justin Hollingsworth (Chairperson) for his leadership in these areas. Thank a Trustee the next time you see one for all their wonderful work for God’s house! Remember,
We are Building God’s Kingdom Together John V.

Next Wednesday, April 27th, will be the last night of Small Group classes. We are celebrating with
Hamburgers, Hotdogs and all the fixings. There is no charge for this meal, but please make your
reservation with Summer by noon on Monday so that we have plenty of food. There will be blow ups
and snow cones for the children. Come join us!
April is United Methodist Women's Month and we are celebrating the upcoming 150th Anniversary of this vital and productive
organization. St. Mark has two groups, the Sarah and Elizabeth Circles which meet monthly. Women of St. Mark are welcome to join either group or start
a new one! We give generously to missions locally and internationally as we
study and learn about our priority areas: children, women and families.
Thank you St. Mark UMC membership for your generous support this past year.
STEPHEN MINISTRY “There is a Need.”
Every day you see people who are hurting: those who have lost
a job, lost a loved one, gone through a divorce, or are battling a
terminal illness. Stephen Ministers are God’s representatives who
bring His love to those who are hurting. God is waiting to make a
difference in their lives through you! If you want to find out how you
can be involved in this one-to-one caregiving to hurting people,
contact me – John Drawhorn / 242-3435. Let me help you be a
better caregiver to hurting people. Call me.
Summer is almost here, and the food pantry NEEDS some vacation time help. We are
hoping that some of you may have some altered schedules and will be willing to help full time or just as a needed substitute during the summer months. It is so important that we have some new summer volunteers so we never have to cancel any of our pantry sessions. If you are
willing to help out, please contact Vicky Killen 633-1994 or Jennifer Woods 339-9388.
Mother’s Day Offering As many of you are aware, the North Alabama Conference has a treasured gift in the Fair
Haven Retirement/Assisted Living Facility. No resident of Fair Haven has ever been asked to leave because of an inability to pay care. How is that possible? Because of churches like St. Mark and others around the North Alabama Conference and beyond. Mother’s Day, May 8th is designated as Fountain of Love Offering Sunday for the benefit of our beloved Fair Haven.
On this day can you / would you consider a gift in honor / or memory of a loved one to support this great ministry? Simply give a donation by envelope or by check and mark it:
FAIR HAVEN. This will alert Samantha Mahloch of your special gift that will passed along to the Annual Conference. Thank you!
