This conference will provide state-of-the-art education in the arenas of bioterrorism andemerging infectious diseases to healthcare professionals so that they can effectively identifyand respond to a terrorist event or natural outbreak of infectious disease. The focus will beon vaccine initiatives, public health policy, terrorist psychology, agents of bioterrorism, diseaseoutbreaks, and emergency preparedness.

Established on September 1, 2001, the Center for Biodefense and Emerging Pathogens (CBEP)was founded with the mission to provide education, training, and consultation to publichealth entities and healthcare providers throughout the region in the arenas of bioterrorism,chemical and radiological weapons, and naturally-emerging infectious disease threats.Affiliated with Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, CBEP draws on the expertise of an extensivenetwork of physicians and scientists, each with a specialized interest in biodefense.
