Happy Friday JFK Families!
Hawk-a-thon
On Monday, you received the “paper copy” of the JFK
PTO Hawk-a-thon Info and Pledge Sheet. Please reach out to
family and friends to support our JFK community by making
a pledge on your child’s behalf. 100% of the proceeds for this
fundraiser go back to our school and our students. For
example, every classroom receives $200 toward field trip
expenses. Funds are also allocated for arts programming for
our entire school community.
This event is intended to
be the primary fundraiser for the
PTO this year. With its success,
we hope to be able to minimize
future fundraising. Pledge
sheets and funds collected are
due Wednesday, October 11th!
Fondly,
Mrs. Etense

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2017
The JFK PTO is proud to announce the 1st Annual Hawk-a-thon. THIS EVENT WILL BE OUR
BIGGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR! THE HAWK-A-THON WILL ALSO BE A DAY FILLED WITH SCHOOL
SPIRIT AND JFK PRIDE! This fun and fit activity will take place during school, outdoors on our field
(weather permitting) or in our school gym. Every student who attends school the day of the
Hawk-a-thon will get to participate. The students will walk/jog/run laps for approximately 20 minutes
and end their session with a short dance party. Each grade will have their own dedicated time slot.
PLEASE MAKE SURE STUDENTS ARE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY FOR THIS ACTIVITY, WEARING
SNEAKERS AND JFK colors or Spirit Wear! The PTO will provide bottles of water for all students. The
students will raise money by soliciting pledges from their friends and family – DO NOT ALLOW
STUDENTS TO SOLICIT DONATIONS DOOR TO DOOR!
PRIZES FOR FUNDRAISING!!!
*GRAND PRIZE* - Students who fundraise $50 or more will be entered into a raffle to win a BRAND
NEW BIKE!

The intention of this after school program is to bring out the best in your child through helping others. This program will build a sense of community at school and help increase your child’s self-esteem and self-worth. This group will be offering a helping hand around the school. Your child could be cutting, sorting or organizing materials for a teacher, helping clean up our school, or completing a task for our teacher leader, etc., no job is too big for these helpers. Class size is limited to the first 6 students registered from third, fourth, and fifth grade, for a total of 18. This group will meet on Tuesdays, in Room 23, under Mrs. Stuart's supervision. Hawk Helpers will learn that helping others always makes you feel good about yourself!
This after school program will be offered 5 different times this year. Each session will meet 4 times, if your child didn’t make the first session you will be notified by email and have the option for an upcoming session. Any questions, please email Diane Lickteig [email protected].
