Environmental Injustice. Investigation of landfill contamination of Minority Township

Development of operant conditioning for testing the visual system in rodents The effects of chronic exposure to inorganic and organic mercury, on the fertility rates of male and female during pubescent development. The cognitive effects on offspring of in-utero exposure to organic and inorganic mercury. Ameliorating effects of a Selenium enhanced diet on mercury toxicity.

Dissertation research The behavioral and motor effects of chronic adult onset methylmercury toxicity and the offsetting effects of dietary selenium on aging and Methylmercury exposure.

Graduate research assistant to Dr M.C. Newland: Development of a new behavioral method for measuring the critical fusion frequency in rats. This method is designed to use positive reinforcement thus making it a practical method for longitudinal studies. Conducting research into the toxic effects of methylmercury on the visual system of rats. Conducting research, on the effects of methylmercury and DHA on behavior using multiple percentile and DHR, schedules of reinforcement, Conducting longitudinal studies with rats on the effects of methylmercury and selenium using multiple percentile and DHR, schedules of reinforcement. Neurological testing of the effects of adult onset chronic exposure to methylmercury and selenium including running wheel duration, tactile degradation in the tail of a rat, grip strength testing, hindlimb cross, flexion testing and mortality.

Graduate research assistant to Dr Elaine Coleman

Analysis of astrocytes related proteins from the hippocampus, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex of rats fed a diet of either high or low DHA omega 3 fatty acid and chronic exposure to 0, 0.5 or 5.0 ppm methylmercury in their drinking water. Analysis was achieved via use of Western Blot test.

Research assistant to Dr Frank Ascione:

The relationship of child abuse, animal abuse and domestic violence. Coding data from questionnaires. Detailed statistical analysis of large databases using SPSS software including cross tabulations, frequencies, and ANOVA. Organizing the national dissemination of literature to domestic violence organizations.

Research assistant to Dr Frank Ascione:

The prevalence of abuse and neglect experience among university students. Produce a codebook based on the questionnaire submitted to subjects. Organize and train assistants to code questionnaires. Produce detailed statistical analysis from the data including frequencies, ANOVA, and correlations. Conduct interrater reliability tests. Conduct a literature search for relevant papers.

Research assistant to Dr Grayson Osborne:

Predicting Taxonomic and Thematic Relational Responding. Duties included the production of 80 power point slides of selected stimuli for presentation in matching to sample experiments. The writing of experiment protocols for four consecutive experiments. Conducting the four experiments. Detailed statistical analysis of the data. The writing of methods, protocols and procedures of the experiments for insertion into a paper for publication. The programming of experimental software for future experiments into selection processes and matching to sample experiments. During the course of the above projects, I was responsible for the training and conduct of up to four assistants, who reported their activities directly to me.
