In framing the plan every effort was made to align Institute strategy with national policy objectives.
A particular focus was the emphasis in the NDP 2007-2013 on an all-island agenda.
Position LYIT as a leading participant in the development of the all-island approach articulated in the NDP 2007-2013 exploiting the significant existing collaboration with the University of Ulster.
Mission & Profile
Mission: To continuously develop as an academic institution of international repute, serving regional and national needs and pursuing, in a collaborative fashion, an ambitious progressive agenda that delivers on the aspirations of its vibrant Institute population and its external stakeholders.
Vision:To be the higher education institution of choice for a wide spectrum of learners on a broad range of employment-focused, high quality education and training programmes delivered in a supportive and increasingly innovative learning environment.
To make a major contribution to the development of the region in partnership with stakeholders through the exploitation of research, innovation and enterprise.

Higher education participation rates for students from the county have increased

Letterkenny campus, additional 77 acres acquired (2010)
