“Jody has been an active and valuable member of the university community since his time as a
young professional. His insight and leadership has been invaluable to Eastern’s Housing and
Dining department and through his participation in numerous campus committees and
university process. In addition to his servant leadership on campus, he has served in many
key professional roles through ACUHO-I and GLACUHO. For decades, Jody has been
dedicated as a student advisor for the Residence Hall Association and the National Residence
Hall Honorary. These organizations continue to be recognized through their state, regional
and national contributions, and for the tremendous impact on the lives of our students. He
has been an outstanding and memorable mentor to hundreds of student leaders and young
professionals. I have no doubt that his legacy at Eastern will be perpetuated by the many
professionals and students he has impacted throughout the years.”- Lynette Drake, Vice

“Jody’s advice and guidance has

to the best of my ability and develop
personal skills that I will use for the
rest of my life.”- Lexington Mahaffey,
EIU RHA President
To the GLACURH RBD and GLACURH CCs,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support for Jody Stone for the Hallenbeck
Service Award at GLACURH RLC 2019. Jody currently serves as one of my advisors for the
Eastern Illinois University Residence Hall Association in which I act as the National
Communications Coordinator. Jody has had a direct impact on my own success, the success of
RHA, and has been an example to all students of being all in for EIU.
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Jody last year when I attended my first RHA meeting as a
new student at EIU. He immediately saw the potential in me and has been crucial to my
development in student leadership and has helped me get to the place that I am today. Jody has
been a fantastic example for me on my journey. His words of encouragement and insightful
advice have helped me develop confidence in myself and motivated me to continue along my
path into student leadership at EIU. Had it not been for Jody and others laying the foundation for
me I would not be where I am today both personally and professionally.
Jody’s impact has reached far beyond my own experience. His commitment to RHA has resulted
in a multitude of success since he began advising in 2001. During his time as and advisor to
RHA the organization has been awarded on the regional level and has served as an amazing
resource for EIU in large part do to Jody’s commitment as an advisor. While I cannot speak
personally for his impact before I arrived on campus, it is clear when I’ve talked to EIU alumni
and others in the University Housing and Dinning Office that Jody has been vital to the success
of RHA. I can personally attest to Jody’s impact on RHA this year as he has acted as my advisor.
RHA has been extremely successful this year as we have hosted successful programs,
conferences, and retreats, supported hall councils, committed ourselves to GLACURH, looked at
improving ourselves as an organization, and how we can best represent students on campus.
None of this would have been possible if Jody were not here to guide us along the journey as we
trailblaze a new path for the future of RHA.
Finally, I would like to address the example that Jody has set for all of the students, faculty, and
alumni at EIU. Eastern Illinois University touts a ballad of being all in it for its students and no
one highlights this more than Jody Stone. Jody has committed his entire career to the
improvement and growth of EIU. I, and so many others, are impressed by his dedication to EIU
as he has spent his undergraduate, graduate, and professional career here and has continually
exceeded expectations. Whenever I think of who I most look up to at EIU it is always Jody due
to his commitment to this university. EIU would not be the home that I know today if it were not
for Jody.
Once again, I am grateful to write this letter of support for Jody Stone for the Hallenbeck Service
Award at GLACURH. I am truly honored to say he is my advisor and believe he is completely
deserving of the Hallenbeck Service Award.
Sincerely,
Ryan Moore
EIU RHA NCC/ICC
