Flying to Malaga airport: Malaga is the nearest international airport to Granada (129 km away), so many of you will be flying there. To get from Malaga Airport to Granada you will have to get a bus. There are two ways to get from Malaga Airport (Aeropuerto Malaga) to Granada by bus: 1) Direct bus Malaga Airport (Aeropuerto Malaga) -Granada bus station The journey takes approx. 2 hours. 2) For those of you who may want to spend some time in Malaga first: Bus Malaga Airport- Malaga bus station and then another bus: Malaga bus station-Granada bus station

A) First you get a bus from the Malaga Airport to Malaga bus station This bus takes you from Malaga Airport to Malaga City Centre, stopping at 10 bus stops along the way. The total journey time is around 15 – 25 minutes depending on time of day and traffic. It costs just 3€ and you can buy the ticket from the driver. The stops are, Malaga Airport, Aeroclub, Agenda de Velázquez, La Hoz (Mercado de Huelin), Ayala (Los Arcos), Avenida Explanada de la Estación (Estación FFCC Train Station), Estación Autobuses (Bus Station/Maria Zambrano), Avenida de Andalucía (Correos), Alameda Principal (Sur), Paseo del Parque (Plaza de la Marina) and finally, Plaza del General Torrijos (City Centre). For the bus station, you should get off at Estación Autobuses (Bus Station/Maria Zambrano) stop. There is a bus around every 20 – 25 minutes from 7am until midnight from the airport. The last 5 buses are 21.10, 21.40, 22.15, 22.55 and midnight. For exact bus timetables, tickets and prices go direct to www.emtmalaga.es. Select Line – Paseo del Parque / Aeropuerto Express, then click the clock icon for schedules.

B) Second you get a bus from Malaga bus station to Granada From Malaga bus station, there is an ALSA bus leaving every hour from 7 am until 21:30 (except 20:00). The price is about 13 €. The journey takes about 1,5 hour. Getting around Granada

Granada is a city and the capital of the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, at the confluence of four rivers, the Beiro, the Darro, the Genil and the Monachil. It sits at an average elevation of 738 metres above sea level, yet is only one hour by car from the Mediterranean coast, the Costa Tropical. Nearby is the Sierra Nevada Ski Station. In the 2016 national census, the population of the city of Granada proper was 232,770, and the population of the entire urban area was estimated to be 498,365. The Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace, is in Granada. It is the most renowned building of the Andalusian Islamic historical legacy with its many cultural attractions that make Granada a popular destination among the touristic cities of Spain. The Almohad influence on architecture is also preserved in the Granada neighborhood called the Albaicín with its fine examples of Moorish and Morisco construction. Granada is also well-known within Spain for the University of Granada which has about 80,000 students spread over five different campuses in the city. The pomegranate (in Spanish, granada) is the heraldic device of Granada and was brought from Uzbekistan, according to recent studies. Location and Distances Distances to Granada by road from various Spanish cities: Madrid, 433 km; Cadiz, 454 km; Malaga, 128 km; Seville, 251 km. Granada's airport is 15 km away from the city on the road to Malaga. Sierra Nevada is 30 km and Granada tropical coast is 65 km away from the city.

Business opening hours in Granada Granada shops usually open at 10 a.m. and close between 1.30 and 2 p.m., opening again between 4.30 and 5 p.m. In winter (a little later in summer) and closing finally at 8.30 p.m. (9 p.m. in summer). They are closed on Sundays and feast days and occasionally on Saturday afternoons, with the exception of the larger department stores which open on some Sundays during the year, at Christmas and during the Sales. The Nevada Shopping is one of the biggest shopping malls in the South of Spain. It is located in Av. de las Palmeras, 75, 18100 Armilla, Granada. It is very easy to arrive there by tram, the station is named “NEVADA”. Bars and restaurants serving food and Spanish tapas open around 1 p.m. and close about 4 p.m. Evening opening times are about 8 p.m. and closing time is between 11.30 p.m. and midnight. Bars serve tapas while the kitchens are open, more or less within the above hours. Cafeterias or bars serving breakfast open very early, some even before 7 a.m. and others a little later. They may close at midday (if it is only a cafeteria and not a bar), between 1.30 and 3 p.m., and re-open for coffee around 3.30 p.m., remaining open until 8.30 or 9 p.m. Weather Granada's climate is friendly and dry, the air clean and healthy, with clear and cheerful skies. Strong winds, fog and snow are rare. The mean annual temperature is 14C, maximum 40C and minimum 4C. Rain is heaviest in November, March and April. The most stable temperatures are during spring and autumn, which are the best times of the year to visit the city. The Granada region offers Spain's richest variety of climate and landscape, from the alpine vegetation of the Sierra Nevada to the tropical coast of Motril, where winter temperatures average 15 C while some villages in the Sierra experience minus 10 C. Currency and Banks The Euro (EUR, €) is the currency in Spain. Banks are usually open Mon-Fri, 9.00-14.00. In summer they may close slightly earlier. Most banks have English speaking staff and all can cope with International transactions. Commissions may be charged on foreign transactions and passports will be required for most. Most major credit cards are accepted all over Spain although some establishments may put a limit on the amounts you can withdraw or spend and sometimes there may be a surcharge. Language The official language in the country is Spanish. The working language of the job shadowing is English. All the job shadowing participants declared their fluency in English when applying for the job shadowing.
