JOB DESCRIPTION | Bilingual Communications Liaison
The Canadian Race Relations Foundation
The CRRF is Canada’s leading agency dedicated to eliminating racial discrimination and promoting
harmonious race relations. Its mission is “to facilitate throughout Canada the development, sharing and
application of knowledge and expertise in order to contribute to the elimination of racism and all forms of
racial discrimination in Canadian society.

Salary Range The hiring salary range for the position is from $60,000 to $70,000
commensurate with experience and qualifications. CRRF offers a
comprehensive benefit package which includes three weeks of vacation, 4%
of annual income towards RRSP plan, and life, disability, medical and dental
care insurance.
Probationary Period 60 days.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Official Language Champion/French translation
• Act as official language coordinator of the Foundation, ensuring compliance with the Foundation’s
Official Languages Policy
• Translate documents into French for public release and for posting on CRRF website and
occasionally from French to English, as required
• Coordinate the translation of Bilingual material according to the established protocol
2. Communications and Publications
• Assist in development and implementation of overall communications strategies and
communications plans for CRRF initiatives and activities , taking into consideration the image,
message and positioning, mandate, mission goals and priorities of the Foundation
• Oversee the production and delivery of CRRF major reports (such as the Annual Report) as
needed.
• Prepare CRRF material, publications and reports such as pamphlets, newsletters, e-bulletin,
annual reports, etc. through desktop publishing in both official languages
3. Community/Sector Liaison
• Develop ideas, recommend and implement activities to commemorate significant days. (I.e. Black
History Month, March 21 etc.)
• Assist and coordinate in marketing plan for CRRF clearing house, social media, website and
publications
• Liaise/communicate with community groups to promote CRRF programs
• Keep abreast of relevant issues, develop and maintain professional networks and relationships
with individuals and/or groups in the Francophone communities; recommend appropriate actions
and coordinate related activities as appropriate
4. CRRF Digital Presence
• Assist in development and implementation of web communications strategies and plans
• Monitor the Foundation website and insure high quality and consistency of content and
presentation
• Working closely with other CRRF team to ensure English and French content on the website is
updated regularly and meet Foundation Official Languages Policy
• Coordinate posting of new information on the website as directed
• Coordinate new postings to CRRF media as directed

5. Conference and Awards Program
• Plan and manage the administration of the CRRF Awards Program and ensure that planning for
the event commences promptly and that recommendations from the Awards Jury, Board, staff
and external input are taken forward
• Plan and execute all logistical aspects of special events, workshops, conferences and
symposium, including venue sourcing and contact negotiations, catering, audio visual, room set-
up, volunteers, participants travel and registration, etc.
6. Others
• Scan newspapers and Internet for articles and issues of relevance to CRRF; alert the Executive
Director immediately when a response may be necessary
• Assist in distribution of CRRF newscan to interested parties and/or stakeholders.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Submit progress reports and reports to the Executive Director as requested and in a timely
manner
Qualifications
1. Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
• Post-secondary education in a related discipline (e.g.: communications, journalism, public
relations, events, library science).
• Bilingualism, excellent reading, writing and translation skills and verbal communication skills in
both official languages. This position requires the use and proficiency of both English and French.
• Minimum three years experience in similar capacity
• Experience in writing and revising social media content, Direct working experience with
publishing, design, communications and event technology platforms/applications
• Experience with relationship management software/applications, and ability to transfer knowledge
to multiple platforms
• Experience in writing in HTML and Java scripts and website design
• Proficiency in using computer technology, internet and full Microsoft® Office suite
• Experience in desktop publishing
• Solid experience in communications and public relation
• Knowledge of race relations issues and commitment to CRRF mandate
• Excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills
