USA JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAM PREPARES FOR 2016USA JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAM PREPARES FOR 2016WITH OCTOBER MINICAMPWITH OCTOBER MINICAMP• Fifty-seven of the nation’s top high school-aged basketball players have been named to

the 2015-16 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team roster and 54 of the 57 are confirmed to participate in the 7th annual USA MJNT minicamp that will be held Oct. 2-4 atthe United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

• The minicamp will be used to continue player evaluations and to get a head start on preparations for 2016 international competitions, including in the 19th annual Nike HoopSummit, the FIBA U17 World Championship and the FIBA Americas U18 Championship.

• The minicamp will be led by JNT head coach Don Showalter (Iowa City H.S., Iowa), who haswon seven-straight gold medals, along with JNT assistant coaches Miles Simon (CaliforniaSupreme) and Sharman White (Miller Grove H.S., Ga.) and court coaches Eric Flannery (St.Edward H.S., Ohio), Edward Francis (Orlando, Fla.) and LJ Goolsby (KC Run GMC, Kansas).

USA U16s WIN AMAZING FOURTH-STRAIGHT GOLDUSA U16s WIN AMAZING FOURTH-STRAIGHT GOLD• Fighting back from a 20-point deficit in the second quarter, the USA U16 men earned a

77-60 victory over Canada to capture the gold medal in the 2015 FIBA Americas U16Championship in Bahía Blanca, Argentina. The first-place finish was the USA’s fourth gold inas many editions of the event, and the USA now owns a perfect 20-0 record overall in U16play since the inaugural tournament in 2009.

• Gary Trent Jr.Gary Trent Jr. scored 19 points in the gold medal game and earned tournament MVP honors.

•  The U16 tournament served as the Americas zone qualifier for the 2016 FIBA U17 WorldChampionship, and the four medal semifinalists -- Argentina, Canada, Dominican Republicand the USA -- earned the four FIBA Americas spots for the 2016 U17 Worlds.

quarterfinals to end its run at the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship, USA guardJalek FeltonJalek Felton won a silver medal in the dunk contest.

• Zach CollinsZach Collins, Payton PritchardPayton Pritchard and P.J. Washington Jr. P.J. Washington Jr. rounded out the USA’s roster.• With 53 points throughout the seven games, Pritchard was the tournament’s fourth-best

scorer.• The 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship featured 24 teams from around the world,

and athletes were 18-years-old or younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 1997).• USA 3x3 U18 men’s teams now are 31-13 all-time and won a silver medal in 2012.

by outscoring Croatia 12-4 in overtime to earn a 79-71 win and the gold medal at the2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Heraklion, Greece.

• Jalen Brunson was named MVP of the 16-team tournament after he averaged 14.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and team-highs of 5.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game.

• Harry Giles, who averaged a double-double of 14.0 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest,joined Brunson on the five-member All-Tournament Team.

“This one is probably the best one I’ve been to,” said Terrance Terrance Ferguson Ferguson after winning his 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship goldmedal. “Just playing at the upper level, U19, and then the competitionout here, especially the championship game. We went to overtime, itwas the first time I’ve ever gone to overtime in FIBA. These crazy gamesmake the experience even better.”

• The 2016 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship will be played June 1-5 inAstana, Kazakhstan.

• Players eligible for this competition musthave been born on or after Jan. 1, 1998.

• Including results from the 2010 YouthOlympic Games, which was a 3x3 event,and results from the 2011, 2012, 2013and 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championships, USA men are 31-13 all-time and won a silver medal in 2012.
