SCHOOL COUNCIL The first School Council meeting for the year was held last Thursday. There are four vacancies on the council currently. Please consider being a part of what happens in your school. The meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month (other than school holidays) and starting at 7.30, and finishing at around 9 pm. They are friendly and quite informal meetings. It is a great way of being involved in your child’s school. Please see me or any of our parent representatives, David Leahy, Lisa Aubrey, Kristy Franz, Kate Hill and Bryan Cross if you have any queries. A timeline of the Election process and a parent self-nomination form is attached Nominations close on Thursday March 1 2018 and should be left in the school office
ABSENT NOTES & SMS NOTIFICATION OF ABSENCES Feedback about SMS absence texts to parents would be appreciated Please remember absence notes must be provided. The yellow folder in the office has forms available. *Please leave the forms in the book as this information is recorded on the schools electronic absence module. To recognise 100% attendance by students, certificates will be given out at the end of each month. This is part of the governments recognition of the importance of students attendance rates, and how if effects their learning.
JINDIVICK FLOWER & CRAFT SHOW Volunteers Needed Jindivick will be holding the annual Flower and Craft show on Sunday February the 25th. This is a great community event and this year we will celebrate 60 years. Set up for the event will take place on the morning of Friday February the 23rd at the Jindi hall. We are asking for volunteers to lesson the load and would appreciate any help. Many thanks Jindivick Flower and Craft Show Committee About the Flower & Craft Show … the show began when the Jindivick PS Mothers Club and the School Committee (prior to School Council) jointly decided to hold a flower show in March 1958. Now organised by a committee of Jindivick community members, it has been a major fundraiser for various organisations throughout Jindivick and the further community. Details about entries, and the various classes students can enter in is attached. The students get a great thrill seeing their entries on display. ** PLEASE NOTE ENTRIES CLOSE TODAY ** Details of where to pay for entries is included in this newsletter under the entry form ***
ROAD SAFETY & PARKING Please remember the car park beside the school is for staff only, as it is dangerous for students and others if cars are backing out of the parking spots. Our roads are getting busier and busier. Please instruct children in road safety, and meet children at the gate of the school, to escort them across the road, and escort them to the school gate when dropping children off. If you are having a chat after school with staff or parents, please ensure children remain within school grounds, or are in your car. If you are running late to pick up children, please call the school so we can let your child know as they can get distressed. Kind regards Wendy Arnott

Daniel Holland – Music Lessons
Dear Parents and Guardians of Jindivick Primary School
My name is Daniel Holland and I will be offering instrumental music lessons this year at the school
on Wednesdays, before, during or after school in the Music Room.
After a warm welcome from your principal, Wendy, I am extremely excited to be offering music tuition to the students of
Jindivick Primary School.
I welcome all ages and ability levels, and offer lessons for a wide variety of instruments including woodwinds, guitar and
piano to name a few. I have an extensive musical background, starting from humble beginnings in secondary school with
learning to play the flute, to playing for a wide variety of orchestras, bands, and productions.
I’ve played with groups stretching from the local Warragul Theatre Company, to the Melbourne based Orchestra Victoria.
Currently I work as an aide and instrumental music teacher at Neerim District Secondary College, and am looking forward to
being able to offer music to our wider community. I cannot wait to see what talent lays within your lovely school, so if you are
interested in your child receiving lessons please read the associated information and feel free to contact me with any
expressions of interest or questions you might have.
Thank you all, and I hope everyone in the school has a wonderful start to the 2018 school year.”
