• Number of Locations: Approximately 1,300 locations

• Geographical Diversity: Serves customers in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Mexico.

Appleton location has 65 employees with an additional 20 at 4 locations.

Scans documents (packing slips, credits, debits) using the Cannon copier/scanner/fax machine

• Data entry of all above documents using the “FORTIS” program on the computer – entering document number and customer name on credits

• Shredding daily

Apply Ferguson labels to showroom literature

• File showroom folders by name into file cabinet

• During the summer if Jimmy has time will clean the cabs of the delivery trucks

• Jimmy works Mon – Fri from 9:15 to 12:15, he takes a ½ lunch break every day at 10:30.

Parent Concerns

• Formal work assessment by outside agency not very helpful

• Jimmy is not motivated by money

• Transition difficult, from paraprofessionals to job coaches – lack of experience

• Transportation needs to and from work

• Leaving the safety net of school

• Would Ferguson hire Jimmy?

UNEXPECTED OUTCOMES • Hired at Ferguson because a position needed to be

filled, and Jimmy had the skills for the job • Ferguson provided MUCH more than “reasonable

accommodations” at work. • Kind, caring and helpful co-workers – he’s treated

with respect and they “have his back” • Jimmy has to deal with fighting over radio stations

and other day to day work place distractions • Earns a competitive salary with fringe (vacation,

bonus and sick leave) • Has good days and bad, like all of us
