Success is Easy, But So is Neglect by Jim Rohn People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time whil e many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: The things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goal s that could change my life. They found it easy not to. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not t o. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around oth er successful people. They said it probably really wouldn't matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I'm a millionaire and they are all still blaming the eco nomy, the government, and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things. In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money - banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opp ortunity - America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unpr ecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded

history. It is not the lack of books libraries are full of books - and they are free! It is not the schools - the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors. Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is w ithin our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply neglect. Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entir e system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potenti ally joy-filled and prosperous human life. Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt lea ds to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitabl y decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence di minishes even more... and on and on it goes. So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of easy to and easy not to that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, easy but potentially life-changing activit ies and disciplines.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Personal Philosophy Economic disaster begins with a philosophy of doing less and wanting more. If you want to amend your errors, you must begin by amending your philosophy. The only thing worse than not reading a book in the last ninety days is not read ing a book in the last ninety days and thinking that it doesn't matter. Your personal philosophy is the greatest determining factor in how your life wor ks out. Initial response illustrates a great deal about someone's personal philosophy. Only human beings can reorder their lives any day they choose by refining their philosophy. If you spend five minutes complaining, you have just wasted five minutes. If you continue complaining, it won t be long before they haul you out to a financial des ert and there let you choke on the dust of your own regret. Jim Rohn Your Dream and the Only Opinion that Counts by Cynthia Kersey

The only opinion about your dream that really counts is yours. The negative comm ents of others merely reflect their limitations - not yours. Fashion photographer Richard Avedon tried to convince Cher that she didn't have the right look to be a model. He told her flat out, "You will never make the co ver of Vogue because you don't have blond hair or blue eyes." When she did, Vog ue sold more copies than it had ever sold before.

When Gustave Leven was making plans to launch Perrier in the United States, seve ral consulting firms advised him, "You're foolish to try to sell sparkling water in the land of Coca-Cola drinkers." A New York publisher told James Michener after reading his first unpublished man uscript, "You're a good editor with a promising future in the business. Why wou ld you want to throw it all away to try to be a writer? I read your book. Fran kly, it's not really that good." Michener's manuscript, titled Tales of the Sou th Pacific, eventually was sold and later won a Pulitzer Prize and was adapted f or stage and screen as "South Pacific." Remember, there is nothing unrealistic about a dream that aligns with your purpo se, ignites your passion, and inspires you to plan and persevere until you attai n it. On the contrary, it's unrealistic to expect a person with such drive and commitment not to succeed.

Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want. ohn

The Magic of Dreams Failure. Rejection. Domestic abuse. Divorce. Clinical depression. These were the nightmares experienced by an out-of-work single mother living on welfare and contemplating suicide. If that person wrote a book for kids, would you let your kids read it? More than 400 million people have. If that person wrote novels leading to movies about magic, good and evil, life a nd death, do you think they would be successful? Eight blockbuster movies with box office earnings totaling more than $7 billion suggest they might. Going from broke, jobless and living on the dole to a multimillionaire in less t han five years sounds like a great American rags-to-riches story, except J.K. Rowling is British and today she s richer than the queen of England. Although I haven t read any of her books, the story behind the story is riveting, fantastical and seemingly magical. Seven years after graduating university, the unemployed divorced mother saw hers elf as the biggest failure she knew. Clinically depressed and contemplating suicide, she turned her despair into her inspiration. Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was and began to direct all my energy to finishing the only work that mattered to me, Rowling said in a 2008 commencement

speech at Harvard University titled The Fringe Benefits of Failure. Had I really su cceeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one area where I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I ado red, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became a sol id foundation on which I rebuilt my life. Rowling wrote her first novel in cafes, walking from one to the other, taking he r daughter with her so she would tire along the way and sleep while Rowling wrot e. She pounded out her first manuscript on a manual typewriter and completed it in 1995, the year of her 30th birthday. Numerous publishers rejected the manuscript before the owner of a small publishi ng house was convinced by his 8-year-old daughter to publish the first Harry Pot ter book. And the rest of the story you know. Forbes estimates her fortune at $1 billion, and she was the runner-up for Time m agazine s person of the year in 2007. Our latest issue of SUCCESS features our achiever of the year and finalists. We search the world over to bring you these stories so you can see that, with persi stence, passion and relentless commitment, people with no more resources than th e rest of us can indeed make their dreams come true. I want your dreams to come true, too. They are possible. You can achieve them. Simply never give up. No matter what, never give up. On September 5, 1965, Earl Shoaff died from complications of pneumonia. Some of his quotes include: "Don't trust your memory, keep a journal." "This is not all the company pays...it's all they pay YOU!" "Work harder on yourself than you do on your job." "Profits are better than wages." "It doesn't cost too much, the truth is, you can't afford it!" "The true mark of greatness is not found in what a person does with their own li fe. It is found in helping others discover that, they too, can become great." "Nothing comes to us, everything comes through us from us. Everything in this wo rld that happens to us comes from in here, not out here." "Let's not be moons, the reflector of the light. Let's be suns. Let's be the cre ator of the light - the creator of ideas. We all have the capacity." "Some things you have to do every day. Eating seven apples on Saturday night ins tead of one a day just isn't going to get the job done." -- Jim Rohn "Sometimes you need to stay in touch but be out of reach." -- Jim Rohn Wherever You Are, Be There by Jim Rohn One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create unique lifes tyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being. While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we face at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying ab out problems at home. We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren't absorbing the message. As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or futur e possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even

notice that today is slipping by. We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywh ere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of expe rience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a su nset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so t hat it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of be coming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And unt il we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Words/Vocabulary The two great words of antiquity are behold and beware. Behold the possibilities and beware the temptations. Vocabulary enables us to interpret and to express. If you have a limited vocabul ary, you will also have a limited vision and a limited future. Well chosen words mixed with measured emotions is the basis of affecting people. It s okay to send flowers, but don t let the flowers do all the talking. Flowers hav e a limited vocabulary. About the best flowers can say is that you remembered. B ut your words tell the rest. Words do two major things: They provide food for the mind and create light for u nderstanding and awareness. "The most important question to ask on the job is not "What am I getting?" The most important question to ask on the job is "What am I becoming? Jim Rohn Get Past the Former Excuses by Cynthia Kersey Choose once and for all to get past all of the former excuses that stopped you f rom achieving your goal or dream and step into your power by saying: "This is my time, my life, my moment of truth. I will not stop until I achieve my goal!" Realizing that being unstoppable is simply a decision that you make every day, e very hour, or sometimes every minute gives you the awareness that it is a choice .

And every time you choose to honor your commitment and take a single step, you a re honoring yourself and exercising your self-discipline muscle. With each step you take, that muscle will grow stronger and stronger, making it easier to bring about change in your life. Your time is now. Make a pledge to yourself that you are fully committed to reac hing your goal.

The Time to React by Jim Rohn Engaging in genuine discipline requires that you develop the ability to take act ion. You don't need to be hasty if it isn't required, but you don't want to lose much time either. Here's the time to act: when the idea is hot and the emotion is strong. Let's say you would like to build your library. If that is a strong desire for y ou, what you've got to do is get the first book. Then get the second book. Take action as soon as possible, before the feeling passes and before the idea dims. If you don't, here's what happens YOU FALL PREY TO THE LAW OF DIMINISHING INTENT

We intend to take action when the idea strikes us. We intend to do something whe n the emotion is high. But if we don't translate that intention into action fair ly soon, the urgency starts to diminish. A month from now the passion is cold. A year from now it can't be found. So take action. Set up a discipline when the emotions are high and the idea is s trong, clear, and powerful. If somebody talks about good health and you're motiv ated by it, you need to get a book on nutrition. Get the book before the idea pa sses, before the emotion gets cold. Begin the process. Fall on the floor and do some push-ups. You've got to take action; otherwise the wisdom is wasted. The em otion soon passes unless you apply it to a disciplined activity. Discipline enab les you to capture the emotion and the wisdom and translate them into action. Th e key is to increase your motivation by quickly setting up the disciplines. By d oing so, you've started a whole new life process. Here is the greatest value of discipline: self-worth, also Many people who are teaching self-esteem these days don't ine. But once we sense the least lack of discipline within to erode our psyche. One of the greatest temptations is to bit. Instead of doing your best, you allow yourself to do an your best. Sure enough, you've started in the slightest sense of self-worth. known as self-esteem. connect it to discipl ourselves, it starts just ease up a little just a little less th way to decrease your

There is a problem with even a little bit of neglect. Neglect starts as an infec tion. If you don't take care of it, it becomes a disease. And one neglect leads

to another. Worst of all, when neglect starts, it diminishes our self-worth. Once this has happened, how can you regain your self-respect? All you have to do is act now! Start with the smallest discipline that corresponds to your own phi losophy. Make the commitment: I will discipline myself to achieve my goals so tha t in the years ahead I can celebrate my successes.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Lifestyle Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, bu t not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else's hands, but not you. Lifestyle is the art of discovering ways to live uniquely. Some people have learned to earn well, but they haven't learned to live well. Earn as much money as you possibly can and as quickly as you can. The sooner you get money out of the way, the sooner you will be able to get to the rest of you r problems in style. What you don t know will hurt you.

Jim Rohn

Developing Desire to Succeed by Tom Hopkins Here are three methods of developing a burning desire to succeed. They will work if you want them to. 1. The greatest obstacle to developing desire is a conviction that we ll never be able to fulfill it. So many people discourage desire to avoid the frustration th ey may encounter. If you don t have a burning desire to better your life, you re che ating yourself and your loved ones with phony excuses. You re choosing a level of life that s poor compared to what you could have with the extra exertion you re capa ble of. It s all on your shoulders and there s no way you can shift a bit of the res ponsibility to anyone else.

2. Focus on the specific things you want. Make agreements with yourself. When I do this, I get that. Don t try to make yourself work for nothing. 3. Take it in steps. If you ve never made more than minimum wage, don t aim for half a million dollars the first year. The essential element is faith in yourself.

I know former migrant farm workers who came out of the fields and made themselve s wealthy. If your sunshine wants far outstrip your cold morning desire, have a talk with yourself, then have a lot more talks. Convince yourself you can succee d and will succeed.

There are two parts to influence: First, influence is powerful; and second, influ ence is subtle. You wouldn t let someone push you off course, but you might let so meone nudge you off course and not even realize it. Jim Rohn

"Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day; whi le failure is simply a few errors in judgment, repeated every day. It is the acc umulative weight of our disciplines and our judgments that leads us to either fo rtune or failure. Jim Rohn My father taught me to always do more than you get paid for as an investment in your future." -- Jim Rohn No Matter How Busy You Are by Jim Rohn No matter how busy you are, make sure to find some time over the next two weeks to reflect, think, give and plan. The week between Christmas and New Year s is the ideal time for this. Try to slow things down. Spend time with the ones you love and care about. Take some time to talk with your spouse and kids about goals and dreams for the next year. Use th is as a time to recharge your batteries (and not just by watching TV the entire time), and with excitement, think about a handful of changes or additions you wa nt for your life in the New Year. I believe you will find the act of reflecting, thinking, dreaming and planning ( with your family) to be one of the most important exercises you can do that will positively impact the next 12 months. And, remember, do not neglect to commit yourself to set this time aside, or you will find that the business of life can and will get in the way.

So, let s all take a moment to gather up the past year of victories and defeats, g rowing as well as those times of stagnation, and use it to wipe a clean slate an d thoughtfully design the next year the way we truly desire it to be.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Values The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become. That is why I wish to pay fair price for every value. If I have to pay for it or earn it, that makes something of me. If I get it for free, that makes nothing of me.

All values must be won by contest, and after they have been won, they must be de fended. Don't sell out your virtue and your value for something you think you want. Juda s got the money, but he threw it all away and hung himself because he was so unh appy with himself. Values were meant to be costly. If it doesn't cost much, we probably wouldn't ap preciate the value. Count the cost first. Don't pay too big a price for pursuing minor values. Be Committed to Keeping Your Personal and Professional Life in Balance by Denis Waitley It is so important to be living in prime time, rather than watching TV in prime time. On your way to success make certain you grow friendships, not just bank an d mutual fund accounts. Life is a collection of memories, not of material things . The Egyptian pharaohs were buried with all their treasures, and were mummified in hopes that they could enjoy their bounty in the next life. But we are only c aretakers of possessions. There is a big difference between standard of living a nd quality of life. Standard of living is based on income earned. Quality of lif e is the enjoyment of the millions of minutes in between accomplishments.

Having money is only one aspect of wealth. To the sick person, wealth is health. To the lonely person, wealth is someone to talk to and share with. To the estra nged person, wealth is hearing words of love and forgiveness. Borrowing the free verse style from Brother Jeremiah s classic poem, I d Pick More D aisies, here are a few things I d do, the second time around. I d laugh at my misfortunes more. Spend more time counting my blessings than my bl emishes. Spend more time playing with my children and grandchildren and less tim e watching performers in the arena. More time enjoying what I have, less time th inking about the things I don t have. If I could live my life again, I d walk in the rain more without an umbrella and listen less to weather reports. I d spend more time looking at trees and climbing them, less time flipping through magazines ma de from dead trees. I d spend more time fully involved in the present moment, less time remembering and anticipating. I d smile more, frown less. And most of all I d be more spontaneous and active, less hesitant and subdued. Whe n some spur of the moment idea came up to go hiking, playing Frisbee, coloring E aster eggs, singing in a chorus, going kayaking, or watching an eclipse, I d be le

ss likely to sit in my chair objecting,

It s not in our plan.

I d be inclined to jump up and run out the door next time and say, Yes, we can! Alth ough I can t live my life again, I m still going to live the new way every day any w ay. I ll never have all the moments I ve missed, but I do have all the time remainin g. Action Idea: Choose one activity this month that you really want to engage in, b ut that you have been putting off because it isn t a priority. Schedule that activ ity in your planner, as if it were a must do business or financial commitment. Whe n you have done it, while you are still feeling good, schedule one for next mont h, and do it as long as you live.

"Find someone who is willing to share the truth with you." -- Jim Rohn According to Robbins, Rohn taught him that "happiness and success in life are n ot the result of what we have, but rather of how we live. What we do with the th ings we have makes the biggest difference in the quality of life Learn how to say no. Don't let your mouth overload your back." -- Jim Rohn "To become financially independent you must turn part of your income into capita l; turn capital into enterprise; turn enterprise into profit; turn profit into i nvestment; and turn investment into financial independence." -- Jim Rohn It's best to start the discipline of generosity when the amounts are small. It's easy to give ten cents out of a dollar; it's a little harder to give a hundred thousand out of a million." -- Jim Rohn "The greatest source of unhappiness comes from inside." -- Jim Rohn "Life and business is like the changing seasons. You cannot change the seasons, but you can change yourself. Therein lies the opportunity to live an extraordina ry life--the opportunity to change yourself." -- Jim Rohn Today brings to each of us 1,440 minutes; 86,400 ticks of the clock. Both the po or and the wealthy have the same 24 hours of opportunity. Time favors no one. To day merely says, Here I am. What are you going to do with me? How well we use each day is largely a function of attitude. With the right attitude we can seize thi s day and make it a point of new beginning. Today does not care about yesterday s failures or tomorrow s regrets. It merely offers the same precious gift -- another 24 hours -- and hopes that we will use it wisely. Without a sense of urgency, desire loses its value. - Jim Rohn "Nothing is more powerful for your future than being a gatherer of good ideas an d information. That's called doing your homework." -- Jim Rohn We generally change ourselves for one of two reasons: inspiration or desperation . Jim Rohn "We all know a variety of ways to make a living. What's even more fascinating is figuring out ways to make a fortune." -- Jim Rohn Stop looking at others who live the good life, wishing that you were too, and in stead begin to commit to your improvement, develop a plan and act on it. Today,

someone is going to... Will it be you? Take advice, but not orders. Only give yourself orders. Abraham Lincoln once sai d, 'Since I will be no one's slave, I will be no one's master.'" -- Jim Rohn The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become. That is why I wish to pay fair price for every value. If I have to pay for it or earn it, that makes something of me. If I get it for free, that makes nothing of me. Jim Rohn We have all the time we need. We all have lots of chances - lots of opportunitie s - lots of years to show what we can do. For most of us, there will be a tomorr ow, a next week, a next month, and a next year. But unless we develop a sense of urgency, those brief windows of time will be sadly wasted, as were the weeks an d months and years before them. There isn't an endless supply! Success is doing ordinary things extraordinary well. "Life and business is like the changing seasons. You cannot change the seasons, but you can change yourself. Therein lies the opportunity to live an extraordina ry life--the opportunity to change yourself." -- Jim Rohn "The most important thing that affects us is our dreams--our ability to see the future. But here's why we don't reach into the future. We're trapped either by r egret of the past or the routine of the present. So make sure that the greatest pull on you is the pull of the future." -- Jim Rohn The development of a sound philosophy prepares us for making sound decisions. Li ke the architect, we must learn to see in our minds the result we wish to achiev e, and then go to work on building a solid foundation to support this vision. On ce the vision is clearly defined and the foundation has been firmly established, then the choices required to complete the structure are easily and wisely made. You must either modify your dreams or magnify your skills." -- Jim Rohn "You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have c harge of. You don't have charge of the constellations, but you do have charge of whether you read, develop new skills, and take new classes." -- Jim Rohn "To become financially independent you must turn part of your income into capita l; turn capital into enterprise; turn enterprise into profit; turn profit into i nvestment; and turn investment into financial independence." -- Jim Rohn "Without a sense of urgency, desire loses its value." -- Jim Rohn "The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not wea k; be bold, but not a bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not tim id; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly." -- Jim Rohn "It's too bad failures don't give seminars. Wouldn't that be valuable? If you me et a guy who has messed up his life for forty years, you've just got to say, 'Jo hn, if I bring my journal and promise to take good notes, would you spend a day with me?'" -- Jim Rohn The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. Yo u cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potenti al and stretch yourself to the limit." -- Jim Rohn Don't join an easy crowd; you won't grow. Go where the expectations and the dema nds to perform are high. "I don't believe that adversity by itself builds character and I certainly don't think that success erodes it. Character is built by how you respond to what hap pens in your life." -- Jim Rohn If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else

's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much." Jim Rohn "The best motivation is self-motivation. The guy says, "I wish someone would com e by and turn me on." What if they don't show up? You've got to have a better pl an for your life." -- Jim Rohn So as you think of your dreams and goals of your future tomorrow, begin today to take those very important first steps to making them all come to life. Today! Make rest a necessity, not an objective. Only rest long enough to gather strengt h. "When Andrew Carnegie died, they discovered a sheet of paper upon which he had w ritten one of the major goals of his life: to spend the first half of his life a ccumulating money and to spend the last half of his life giving it all away. And he did!" -- Jim Rohn "To succeed in sales, simply talk to lots of people every day. And here s what s exc iting there are lots of people!" -- Jim Rohn Before you are tempted to give up or get discouraged, remember all success is ba sed on long term commitment, faith, discipline, attitude and a few stepping ston es along the way. You might not like the stone you are on right now, but it's su re to be one of the stones that lead to great opportunities in the future Every day is filled with dozens of personal crossroads -- moments when we are ca lled upon to make a decision regarding minor as well as major questions. It is i mportant to remember that each and every one of the choices we make during these moments of decision charts a path leading to some future destination. Just as t he sum total of our past decisions has led us to our current circumstances, the decisions we make today will lead us to the rewards or the regrets of the future . Here's the best accounting. The accounting you make of yourself. Don't wait for the government to do it, don't wait for the company to do it. You've got to add up some of your own numbers and ask, "Am I making the progress I want and will i t take me where I want to go now and in the future?" You be the judge. There are four "ifs" in the area of growth and change that make life worthwhile. Life is worthwhile if you learn. Learn from your personal experiences and also l earn from other peoples experiences. Life is worthwhile if you try. You've got to take what you've learned and see if you can try your hand at it. Life is worthwhile if you stay. You don't have to stay forever, just until you s ee it through. Life is worthwhile if you care. If you care at all, you'll get some results. If you care enough, you can get magnificent results. Jim Rohn

"To attract attractive people, you must be attractive. To attract powerful peopl e, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Ins tead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you ca n attract." -- Jim Rohn Plan. Without a plan you will drift to and fro. You will certainly not carry out

your dream if you do not have a plan. So write it down. Set your goals. Know wh at you want and how you are going to get there. Beginning. This may sound simple and yet it is simply profound. Many people have a dream and they even have a plan, but they never begin. So simple: Just start. The first step on the long journey is still just one step. If you have a dream and a plan, take a step in the right direction. Persevere. Every road to every dream has a section or sections that is hard to t ravel. Every great dream will encounter difficulty. The question isn't whether o r not you will encounter trouble, but how you will respond to trouble. Will you quit when the going gets tough or will you persevere? I have found that every su ccessful person I know, myself included, has encountered problems along the way that tempted them to quit. Yet they persevered and achieved their dream. It is not what happens that determines the major part of your future. What happen s, happens to us all. It is what you do about what happens that counts. Jim Rohn What happened even as recently as yesterday is no longer of any ess we choose to allow it to be. What is of great importance is is that leaves its mark today, and each day thereafter. What we established and unchangeable fact. What we can yet become is an less opportunity. - Jim Rohn consequence, unl who and what it have been is an unlimited, bound

By our attitude, we decide to read or not to read. By our attitude, we decide to try or to give up. By our attitude, we blame ourselves for our failure or we bl ame others. Our attitude determines whether we tell the truth or lie, act or pro crastinate, advance or recede, and by our own attitude, we, and we alone, actual ly decide whether to succeed or fail. #3 favorite Jim Rohn quote posted by you last week (there was a tie for #3): "If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree. You have the abili ty to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your ve ry own power of choice." - Jim Rohn Where Do You Go for Your Intellectual Feast? by Jim Rohn Pity the man who has a favorite restaurant, but not a favorite author. He s picked out a favorite place to feed his body, but he doesn t have a favorite place to fe ed his mind! Why would this be? Have you heard about the accelerated learning curve? From bir th, up until the time we are about 18, our learning curve is dramatic, and our c apacity to learn during this period is just staggering. We learn a tremendous am ount very fast. We learn language, culture, history, science, mathematics... eve rything! For some people, the accelerated learning process will continue. But for most, i t levels off when they get their first job. If there are no more exams to take, if there s no demand to get out paper and pencil, why read any more books? Of cour se, you will learn some things through experience. Just getting out there sometime s doing it wrong and sometimes doing it right you will learn.

Can you imagine what would happen if you kept up an accelerated learning curve a ll the rest of your life? Can you imagine what you could learn to do, the skills you could develop, the capacities you could have? Here s what I m asking you to do: Be that unusual person who keeps up his learning curve and develops an appetite

for always trying to find good ideas. One way to feed your mind and educate your philosophy is through the writings of influential people. Maybe you can t meet the person, but you can read his or her books. Churchill is gone, but we still have his books. Aristotle is gone, but we still have his ideas. Search libraries for books and programs. Search magazines . Search documentaries. They are full of opportunities for intellectual feasting . In addition to reading and listening, you also need a chance to do some talking and sharing. I have some people in my life who help me with important life quest ions, who assist me in refining my own philosophy, weighing my values and ponder ing questions about success and lifestyle. We all need association with people of substance to provide influence concerning major issues such as society, money, enterprise, family, government, love, frie ndship, culture, taste, opportunity and community. Philosophy is mostly influenc ed by ideas, ideas are mostly influenced by education, and education is mostly i nfluenced by the people with whom we associate. Establishing Dreams and Goals by Jim Rohn One of the amazing things we have been given as humans is the unquenchable desir e to have dreams of a better life, and the ability to establish goals to live ou t those dreams. Think of it: We can look deep within our hearts and dream of a b etter situation for ourselves and our families; dream of better financial lives and better emotional or physical lives; certainly dream of better spiritual live s. But what makes this even more powerful is that we have also been given the ab ility to not only dream but to pursue those dreams and not only to pursue them, but the cognitive ability to actually lay out a plan and strategies (setting goa ls) to achieve those dreams. Powerful! What are your dreams and goals? This isn't what you already have or what you hav e done, but what you want. Have you ever really sat down and thought through you r life values and decided what you really want? Have you ever taken the time to truly reflect, to listen quietly to your heart, to see what dreams live within y ou? Your dreams are there. Everyone has them. They may live right on the surface , or they may be buried deep from years of others telling you they were foolish, but they are there.

So how do we know what our dreams are? This is an interesting process and it rel ates primarily to the art of listening. This is not listening to others; it is l istening to yourself. If we listen to others, we hear their plans and dreams (an d many will try to put their plans and dreams on us). If we listen to others, we can never be fulfilled. We will only chase elusive dreams that are not rooted d eep within us. No, we must listen to our own hearts. Let's take a look at some practical steps/thoughts on hearing from our hearts wh at our dreams are: Take time to be quiet. This is something that we don't do enough in this busy wo rld of ours. We rush, rush, rush, and we are constantly listening to noise all a round us. The human heart was meant for times of quiet, to peer deep within. It is when we do this that our hearts are set free to soar and take flight on the w ings of our own dreams! Schedule some quiet "dream time" this week. No other peo ple. No cell phone. No computer. Just you, a pad, a pen, and your thoughts. Think about what really thrills you. When you are quiet, think about those thing

s that really get your blood moving. What would you LOVE to do, either for fun o r for a living? What would you love to accomplish? What would you try if you wer e guaranteed to succeed? What big thoughts move your heart into a state of excit ement and joy? When you answer these questions you will feel great and you will be in the "dream zone." It is only when we get to this point that we experience what our dreams are! Write down all of your dreams as you have them. Don't think of any as too outlan dish or foolish remember, you're dreaming! Let the thoughts fly and take careful r ecord. Now, prioritize those dreams. Which are most important? Which are most feasible? Which would you love to do the most? Put them in the order in which you will ac tually try to attain them. Remember, we are always moving toward action, not jus t dreaming. Here is the big picture: Life is too short to not pursue your dreams. Someday yo ur life will near its end and all you will be able to do is look backward. You c an reflect with joy or regret. Those who dream, who set goals and act on them to live out their dreams, are those who live lives of joy and have a sense of peac e when they near the end of their lives. They have finished well, for themselves and for their families. Remember: These are the dreams and goals that are born out of your heart and min d. These are the goals that are unique to you and come from who you were created to be and gifted to become. Your specific goals are what you want to attain bec ause they are what will make your life joyful and bring your family's life into congruence with what you want it to be.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Enterprise Human beings have the remarkable ability to turn nothing into something. They ca n turn weeds into gardens and pennies into fortunes. Enterprise is better than ease. Showing a profit means touching something and leaving it better than you found i t. Enterprise is the hope of our future. Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living; profits make you a fortu ne. We all know a variety of ways to make a living. What's even more fascinating is figuring out ways to make a fortune. "Americans are incredibly impatient. Someone once said that the shortest period of time in America is the time between when the light turns green and when you h ear the first horn honk. Jim Rohn Your Dream Begins Today by Les Brown What will your life be like when you ve achieved your most deeply held dreams? Let s take a look at how you can start living your dreams this very day. Do you have a dream, a vision of the life you wish to live? How specific is that dream? How clear is that vision? How do you intend to reach it? What obstacles stand in your way? Are your fears holding you back or are you using them to move you forward?

Your fears can actually lead you to success. Fear is an intense emotion. But tha t doesn t mean it has to control you, or even stop you. Fear can prepare you and p ush you forward just as strongly as it can hold you back. Fear heightens your aw areness and increases your physical strength. Fear brings your mind to sharp foc us. With all that going for you, does it make sense to just run and hide? Of cou rse not. Fear gets you in shape to take action! Are you waiting for things to get better before moving ahead? If you re serious ab out success, you need to start taking action today. If you re waiting for things t o be perfect, you ll wait forever and nothing will ever get done. The way to achieve is to bloom where you re planted, to do what you can, where you are, with what you have. It s easy to think up excuses for not taking action. If o nly I had more hours in the day. If only I had a better job. If only I could mee t the right person. But excuses won t bring you anything of value. You ve got to chan ge your if only into an I will. I will make better use of my time. I will work on imp roving my career. I will create and nurture my relationships. Take a chance. Have faith in yourself. Your circumstances will improve when you make the effort to improve them. Start where you are right now. You have everyth ing it takes to reach for whatever you desire. Stop wishing. Use your time, your energy, your thoughts and efforts to make it happen! You ll be glad you did!

"The twin killers of success are impatience and greed. Jim Rohn One of the great fortunes of my life was to be around Mr. Shoaff those five year s. During that time he shared with me at dinner, during airline flights, at busi ness conferences, in private conversations and in groups. He gave me many ideas that enabled me to make small daily adjustments in my philosophy and activities. Those daily changes, some very slight, but very important, soon added up to wei ghty sums. To solve any problem, there are three questions to ask yourself: First, what coul d I do? Second, what could I read? And third, whom could I ask? Jim Rohn

March 25, 2013 Keeping a Journal by Jim Rohn If you're serious about becoming a wealthy, powerful, sophisticated, healthy, in fluential, cultured and unique individual, keep a journal. Don't trust your memo ry. When you listen to something valuable, write it down. When you come across s omething important, write it down. I am a buyer of blank books. Kids find it interesting that I would buy a blank b ook. They say, Twenty-six dollars for a blank book! Why would you pay that? The re ason I pay twenty-six dollars is to challenge myself to find something worth twe nty-six dollars to put in there. All my journals are private, but if you ever go t a hold of one of them, you wouldn't have to look very far to discover it is wo rth more than twenty-six dollars. I must admit, if you got a glimpse of my journ als, you'd have to say that I am a serious student. I'm not just committed to my craft, I'm committed to life, committed to learning new concepts and skills. I want to see what I can do with seed, soil, sunshine and rain to turn them into t he building blocks of a productive life.

Keeping a journal is so important. I call it one of the three treasures to leave behind for the next generation. In fact, future generations will find these th ree treasures far more valuable than your furniture. The first treasure is your pictures. Take a lot of pictures. Don't be lazy in ca pturing the event. How long does it take to capture the event? A fraction of a s econd. How long does it take to miss the event? A fraction of a second. So don't miss the pictures. When you're gone, they'll keep the memories alive. The second treasure is your library. This is the library that taught you, that i nstructed you, that helped you defend your ideals. It helped you develop a philo sophy. It helped you become wealthy, powerful, healthy, sophisticated, and uniqu e. It may have helped you conquer some disease. It may have helped you conquer p overty. It may have caused you to walk away from the ghetto. Your library, the b ooks that instructed you, fed your mind and fed your soul, is one of the greates t gifts you can leave behind. The third treasure is your journals: the ideas that you picked up, the informati on that you meticulously gathered. But of the three, journal writing is one of t he greatest indications that you're a serious student. Taking pictures, that is pretty easy. Buying a book at a book store, that's pretty easy. It is a little m ore challenging to be a student of your own life, your own future, your own dest iny. Take the time to keep notes and to keep a journal. You'll be so glad you di d. What a treasure to leave behind when you go. What a treasure to enjoy today!

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Government/Debate One of the great liberal documents of the world is the Declaration of Independen ce. One of the most conservative documents of the world is the Constitution of t he United States. We need both documents to build a country. One to get it start ed - liberal. And the other to help maintain the structure over the years - cons ervative. An ancient script says, Would you let a man rule the city who cannot even rule hi s own spirit? Sometimes we do. Taxes are our way of feeding the goose that lays the golden eggs of freedom, dem ocracy and enterprise. Someone says, Well, the goose eats too much. That's probabl y true. But better a fat goose than no goose at all! Tyranny knows no restraint of appetite. Did you ever eat a government cookie? The real genius to make a marketplace flou rish does not come from the government; it comes from the genius of the people. Trusting Your Intuitive Instincts by John C. Maxwell There is a certain element of risk in intuitive leadership, but that is the very nature of leadership. Andr Gide said, One doesn't discover new lands without cons enting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. A neglect of cultivating intuition results from doing what is safe and secure. I can't think of very many things of value that are won by staying safe and secure. While leaning on your intuition is a leadership advantage, it can also be a weak ness. You'll gain the trust of others when your intuitions lead to good decisio ns. And you'll forfeit trust when you fail because you continually ignore the wi se advice of those around you. Robert Heller said, Never ignore a great feeling, but never believe that it's enough. Great leaders learn to trust the intuition of their confidantes as well.

Here are some steps I've developed for tapping into my intuitive instincts: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Write down the issue at hand. Identify as many options as possible. Pull away from the process and pray. Start playing out consequences of your options, eliminating them one by one. Bounce a couple of your top options off of wise people both inside and outsid

e your organization. 6. Do a heart check. This involves looking at: - My motive: Why am I doing this? - My responsibility: Should I be doing this? - My emotional status: Can I feel right about doing this? 7. Make a decision. 8. Hold to that decision.

Take time to gather up the past so that you will be able to draw from your experi ences and invest them in the future. Jim Rohn

The Great Leadership Challenge by Jim Rohn If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a p erson of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the g ifts, skills, and opportunities you offer as an owner, as a manager, as a parent . What's important in leadership is refining your skills. All great leaders keep working on themselves until they become effective. Here are some specifics: Learn to be strong but not impolite. It is an extra step you must take to become a powerful, capable leader with a wide range of reach. Some people mistake rude ness for strength. It's not even a good substitute. Next, learn to be kind but not weak. We must not mistake weakness for kindness. Kindness isn't weak. Kindness is a certain type of strength. We must be kind eno ugh to tell someone the truth. We must be kind enough and considerate enough to lay it on the line. We must be kind enough to tell it like it is and not deal in delusion.

Next, learn to be bold but not a bully. It takes boldness to win the day. To bui ld your influence, you've got to walk in front of your group. You've got to be w illing to take the first arrow, tackle the first problem, discover the first sig n of trouble. Like the farmer, if you want any rewards at harvest time, you have got to be bold and face the weeds and the rain and the bugs straight on. You've got to seize the moment. Here's the next step. You've got to learn to be humble but not timid. You can't get to the high life by being timid. Some people mistake timidity for humility. But humility is a virtue; timidity is a disease. It's an affliction. It can be c ured, but it is a problem. Humility is almost a God-like word. A sense of awe. A sense of wonder. An awareness of the human soul and spirit. An understanding th at there is something unique about the human drama versus the rest of life. Humi lity is a grasp of the distance between us and the stars, yet having the feeling that we're part of the stars. Here's a good tip: Learn to be proud but not arrogant. It takes pride to build y our ambitions. It takes pride in your community. It takes pride in a cause, in a ccomplishment. But the key to becoming a good leader is to be proud without bein g arrogant. Do you know the worst kind of arrogance? Arrogance from ignorance. I

t's intolerable. If someone is smart and arrogant, we can tolerate that. But if someone is ignorant and arrogant, that's just too much to take. The next step is learning to develop humor without folly. In leadership, we lear n that it's okay to be witty but not silly; fun but not foolish. Next, deal in realities. Deal in truth. Save yourself the agony of delusion. Jus t accept life as it is. Life is unique. The whole drama of life is unique. It's fascinating. Life is unique. Leadership is unique. The skills that work well for one leader may not work at all for another. However, the fundamental skills of leadership can be adopted to work

A big part of the lesson was having Mr. Shoaff repeat the ideas over and over. Y ou just can t hear the fundamentals of life philosophy too often. They are the gre atest form of nutrition, the building blocks for a well-developed mind. I m asking that you feed your mind just as you do your body. Feed it with good ide as, wherever they can be found. Always be on the lookout for a good idea a busines s idea, a product idea, a service idea, an idea for personal improvement. Every new idea will help to refine your philosophy. Your philosophy will guide your li fe, and your life will unfold with distinction and pleasure. "It doesn't matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matter s most is getting off! You cannot make progress without making decisions." -- Ji m Rohn "After you become a millionaire, you can give all of your money away because wha t's important is not the million dollars; what's important is the person you hav e become in the process of becoming a millionaire." -- Jim Rohn "Start from wherever you are and with whatever you've got." -- Jim Rohn Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgment repeated every day. It is the accumul ative weight of our disciplines and our judgments that leads us to either fortun e or failure. Jim Rohn "The more you know, the less you need to say." -- Jim Rohn "Economic disaster begins with a philosophy of doing less and wanting more." -Jim Rohn "Human beings have the remarkable ability to turn nothing into something. Recently I read a headline that said, "We do n't teach people to be nice. We simply hire nice people." Wow! What a clever sho rt cut." -- Jim Rohn Don't spend most of your time on the voices that don't count. Tune out the shall ow voices so that you will have more time to tune in the valuable ones." -- Jim Rohn "You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight." -- Jim Rohn "If you don't like how things are, change it! To attract powerful people , you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Inst ead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract." -- Jim Rohn If you were to take the lessons and experiences you've acquired in the past one year, five years or 10 years and skillfully invest that into your future, how po werful would that be? Where would you find yourself at the end of the next year? " - Jim Rohn Before you are tempted to give up or get discouraged, remember all success is ba sed on long term commitment, faith, discipline, attitude and a few stepping ston es along the way. You might not like the stone you are on right now, but it's sure to be one of th e stones that will lead to great opportunities in the future. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." -- Jim Rohn "Happiness is not an accident. Nor is it something you wish for. Happiness is so mething you design." -- Jim Rohn "Don't set your goals too low. If you don't need much, you won't become much." - Jim Rohn "Learn to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want." -- Ji m Rohn Don't say, 'If I could, I would.' Say instead, 'If I can, I will.'" -- Jim Rohn "Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, now you have a motivated idiot." -- Jim Rohn Walk way from the 97% crowd. Don t use their excuses. Take charge of your own life. Jim Rohn When you know what you want, and you want it bad enough, you will find a way to g et it. Jim Rohn "Life is worthwhile if you try. If I would, I could. If I will, I can. Jim Rohn An immediate reward for lack of discipline is a fun day at the beach. A future r eward of discipline is owning the beach. Unfortunately, most of us would choose today s pleasure over tomorrow s fortune. Jim Rohn

The keys to discipline Jim Rohn

Start with the little things and work up to the big ones.

I ve discovered that you can t change people. They can change themselves. Good peopl e are found, not changed. If you want good people, you have to find them. Jim Rohn I will discipline myself to achieve my goals so in the years ahead I can celebra te my successes. Jim Rohn It s not what happens in the world that determines the major part of your future. What happens, happens to us all. The key is what you do about it. Jim Rohn Happiness doesn t come from big pieces of great success but from small, daily achi evements. What Mr (Benjamin) Franklin is saying is that we must be happy with wh at we ve got when we re in pursuit of what we really want. Abraham Lincoln said it b est. He said, You ll be as happy as you make up your mind to be. Jim Rohn If you don t like your present address, change it Jim Rohn you re not a tree!

It means that big achievements come one small step at a time. It means that you ve got to enjoy the journey. It means that you must enjoy and take pride in your l ittle accomplishments. It means celebrating who you are becoming in pursuit of y our larger goal. And it mean s doing so everyday. Jim Rohn Discipline is the requirement for progress. Jim Rohn

Set compelling goals. Jim Rohn Ambitious people know that everything they do and every discipline they adhere t o form the links in the chain of events that will lead them to their final desti nation. Jim Rohn The best money spent is the money spent to cultivate the genius of your own mind and spirit. Jim Rohn Hear or read something challenging, something instructional, at least thirty min utes a day, everyday. You can get along without some meals, but you can t get alon g without some ideas, examples and inspiration. Jim Rohn When you live a very public life, you treasure solitude. Jim Rohn Effective brainstorming can only happen if you disassociate from your ego. Jim Rohn It is easy to get up in the morning when you awaken anxious to make progress tow

ards your dreams. When you re excited about life, you ll wake up long before your al arm clock goes off. Jim Rohn In my mind s eye I could picture him over the coming years, working long hours, me eting deadlines, overcoming obstacles, doing everything it takes to be successfu l and doing it gladly! Jim Rohn Happiness is not in the getting. Happiness is in the becoming. Happiness is a un iversal quest. Happiness is a joy that comes as a result of positive activity. I t has a wide variety of meanings, a wide variety of interpretations. Happiness i s both the joy of discovery and the joy of knowing. It s the joy that comes from d esigning a life that practices the fine art of living well. Happiness is being a ble to explore all that life offers. Happiness is quite often found in having op tions options of doing what you want to, instead of doing what you have to. The option of living where you want to, instead of living where you have to. The opt ion of looking like you want to, instead of settling for what you have to look l ike. Jim Rohn Happiness is receiving and sharing, reaping and bestowing. Happiness is found in taking the time to enjoy what you re accomplished: enjoying the plateau, giving y ourself credit when credit is due, patting yourself on the back for a job well d one. Happiness is the here and now. Happiness isn t the end result. Happiness is p art of the journey. Jim Rohn

The road to heaven, is heaven. Jim Rohn If you share a good idea often enough, it will fall on good people. Jim Rohn My definition of financial independence: it s the ability to live solely from the income of your own personal resources. Jim Rohn He said Mr Rohn, the key to happiness is not more. Happiness is an art to be stu died and practiced. More money will only make you more of what you already are a nd send you more quickly to your destination. If you are inclined to be unhappy, you will be absolutely miserable if you get a lot of money. If you are inclined to be mean, you will be a terror if you get a lot of money. If you are inclined to drink a little too much, you will be a drunk when you get a lot of money. Mo re money will only make you more. But the good news is that more money will ampl ify your happiness if you are inclined to be happy. Jim Rohn Success is like an ocean it s not in short supply. The problem is, some people go to the ocean with a teaspoon. Jim Rohn You can cut a tree down with a hammer, but it takes about thirty days. If you tr ade the hammer for an axe, you can cut the tree down in about thirty minutes. Th e difference between the thirty minutes and thirty days is the tool. Jim Rohn

Words are bread for the head . Jim Rohn The only way life gets better for you is when you get better. Better is not some thing you wish for; better is something you become. Jim Rohn How ter is Jim will my life change? The answer is: when you change. The only way it get s bet for you is when you get better. Better is not something you wish for; better something you become. Rohn

Things aren t going to change until I change. Jim Rohn

You can t change the circumstances or the seasons or the wind. But you can change your reading habits. Jim Rohn You ve got to be self-reliant. Jim Rohn The essence of life is growth. It is doing the best you possibly can. Jim Rohn When you re focussing on growth, it s easy to do all you can. It s easy to succeed. It s easy to have financial freedom. The more you do, the more you get. Jim Rohn A strong individual is not a rigid individual. In fact exactly the opposite is t rue. Strength comes from flexibility. The ability to adapt. Jim Rohn Being self-enterprising means feeling good enough about yourself, having a great enough self-worth, to want to seek opportunities that will make a difference in the future. Jim Rohn I ve decided that enterprise is better than ease. Jim Rohn Ant Philosophy Jim Rohn Ants never quit.

Enterprising people will always find a way to take advantage of a situation, not be burdened by it. And enterprising people aren t lazy. They don t wait for opportu nities to come to them, they go after the opportunities. Enterprise means always finding a way to keep yourself actively working toward your ambition. Jim Rohn Once you start understanding how valuable you are, you will have many new experi ences. That s why the understanding of self-worth plays a major role in our abilit y to be enterprising. Our self-worth makes the difference being lazy and being a ctive. If we don t feel good about ourselves, we won t feel good about our lives. An d if we don t feel good about ourselves, we won t feel good about our lives. And if we don t feel good about our lives, we won t be very interested in looking for oppor tunities. Jim Rohn

Being enterprising also means feeling good enough about yourself, having enough self-worth to want to seek advantages and opportunities that will make a differe nce in your future. Jim Rohn Anything is possible in those twenty-four hours we re given each day. Jim Rohn You build character by how you respond to what happens in your life, whether it s winning every game or losing every game or getting rich or dealing with hard tim es. Jim Rohn Just before the Normandy Invasion in 1944, Eisenhower met with a group of office rs who would be going into battle. He stretched out a piece of string on a table and pulled it a few inches with his finger. An army is like this piece of string . He said. If you try to push it from behind, it just tangles and doubles back on itself. Soldiers have to be led from the front, not pushed from behind. Jim Rohn If you sow, you will reap. Jim Rohn There is nothing to fear, except fear itself. Jim Rohn When people asked Socrates, What is wisdom? he always gave the same answer: I don t k now . In fact, Socrates never claimed to know much of anything except how to ask q uestions. And by asking questions, he would prove to other people that they didn t know what they thought they knew. Jim Rohn A patient man is always richer than an impatient one, even if the patient man ha s less money. Why? The patient man can always afford to wait. The patient man is never desperate. The patient man has time to spare. While the man in a hurry is always on the verge of bankruptcy as far as time is concerned. Jim Rohn Making the most of your life is unusual. That s why you need to develop some unusu al habits to earn outstanding rewards. Jim Rohn Each person s personal philosophy is like the set of a sail. If you want to trim a better sail, you don t need a better economy. You know you can t change the seasons ; you ve got to take them as they come. What can you change to make your life work better? You must start with your philosophy. Once I got rid of all my old excus es and started examining the real problem my personal philosophy my life explode d into change. My bank account changed immediately. My income changed immediatel y. My whole life instantly took on a new look. The early results from making the se philosophical changes felt so good that I never stopped the process from that day forward. Jim Rohn

There is only one way to make time work for you, not against you: patience. Jim Rohn In any situation you can think of, impatience is a source of weakness and fear, while patience represents substance and strength. Jim Rohn The nearsighted person sees only the present; the fantasizer sees only an imagin ary future and, more likely than not trips over his mistakes trying to get there . Patience enables you to see the big picture. It helps you to make the most of today while building a better tomorrow. Jim Rohn Patience and endurance. Jim Rohn A big part of the lesson was having Mr Shoaff repeat the ideas over and over. Yo u just can t hear the fundamentals of life philosophy too often. Jim Rohn If you re full of ideas, pour them out. As you do, I promise more will be poured i n. Jim Rohn If you want something badly enough, you have to pay for it. Why? Because of the kind of person paying for it will make of you. Jim Rohn One is a great idea person, the other a great detail person. They work together, or it wouldn t work at all. Jim Rohn Too much is too much. That s why you need to exercise brevity when it comes to log ic and reason. Jim Rohn He said, Mr Rohn, if you truly wish to be successful, you ve got to associate with the right people. Jim Rohn

Let other people lead small lives. You are destined for something better. Jim Rohn Everyone has to get good at one of two things: planting in the spring or begging in the fall. Jim Rohn There s no failure in pouring your heart and soul and energy into something that d oesn t work. Rather, failure is not trying at all. Jim Rohn The day that turns your life around. Disgust; Decision; Desire; Resolve. Jim Rohn

Resolve means promising yourself you ll never give up. Jim Rohn Promise yourself you ll read the books until your skills change; you ll go to semina rs until you get a handle on what they re teaching; you ll practice until you develo p the skills. Never give up until you ve gotten what you want. Don t miss the chance to grow. Resolve that you ll pay the price until you learn, change, grow, and bec ome what you want to be. You ll discover some of life s best treasures when you pay that price. Jim Rohn Don t wish it were easier, wish you were better. Don t wish for fewer problems, wish for more skills. Don t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom. Jim Rohn There are several studies that show the greatest achievers aren t those who fail t he least. The greatest achievers are those least frightened of failure. They re wi lling to take on the challenge without the guarantee of success. They have the d esired end in sight, but they re not sure when it will be or where it will be. Jim Rohn You ve got to keep trying and trying and trying. You ve got to have enough resolve t o do it until you succeed. Jim Rohn Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally destroy our ambitions. Fears can de stroy fortunes. Fear can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can des troy lives. Fear is one of the many enemies lurking inside of us. Jim Rohn

The enemies inside us: Indifference, Indecision, Doubt, Worry, and Over-caution. Jim Rohn Indecision is the thief of opportunity and enterprise. Jim Rohn Perseverance means you never quit. Jim Rohn The things that are easy to do are also easy not to do. That s the difference betw een success and failure, between daydreams and ambitions. Jim Rohn Dreams are a projection of the kind of life you want to lead. When you allow you r dreams to pull you forward, they unleash a creative force that can overpower e verything in your way. Jim Rohn Success is defining a goal and having the resolve to complete it, no matter what . Jim Rohn You see, you can t change what s going on around you without first changing what s goi ng on within you. Jim Rohn You don t want to waste your time on things that aren t going to matter.

Jim Rohn Formula for failure: errors in judgement repeated every day. Jim Rohn Get in the habit of doing it! Do all it takes and before you know it, success wi ll be yours for the having. Jim Rohn You have the power to make all your dreams come true. Jim Rohn Dreams are a projection of the kind of life you want to lead. Dreams can drive y ou. Dreams can make you skip over obstacles. When you allow your dreams to pull you, they unleash a creative force that can overpower any obstacle in your path. To unleash this power, though, your dreams must be well-defined. Jim Rohn Their dreams were stronger than the obstacles in their way. Jim Rohn You ve got to be willing to put yourself through the paces of doing the uncomforta ble until it becomes comfortable. Because that s how you realise your dreams. Jim Rohn They have a dream. And so should you. Your success depends on it. Jim Rohn If you empty a pitcher of coke into a glass, how much can it hold? Only what the glass can hold. Jim Rohn The philosophy of the rich versus the poor is this: The rich invest their money and spend what is left; the poor spend their money and invest what is left. Jim Rohn I used to say, "Things cost too much." Then my teacher straightened me out on th at by saying, "The problem isn't that things cost too much. The problem is that you can't afford it." That's when I finally understood that the problem wasn't " it" - the problem was "me!" Jim Rohn We all know a variety of ways to make a living. What's even more fascinating is figuring out ways to make a fortune. Jim Rohn The Bible says that it is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heave n. It doesn't say that it is impossible! Jim Rohn

To become financially independent you must turn part of your income into capital ; turn capital into enterprise; turn enterprise into profit; turn profit into in vestment; and turn investment into financial independence. Jim Rohn Part of your heritage in this society is the opportunity to become financially i ndependent.

Jim Rohn If you depend on your company to take care of your retirement, your future incom e will be divided by five. Take care of it yourself, and you can multiply your f uture income by five. Jim Rohn I remember saying to my mentor, "If I had more money, I would have a better plan ." He quickly responded, "I would suggest that if you had a better plan, you wou ld have more money." You see, it's not the amount that counts; it's the plan tha t counts. Jim Rohn If you were to show me your current financial plan, would I get so excited by it that I would go across the country and lecture on it? If the answer is no, then here's my question: Why not? Why wouldn't you have a superior financial plan th at is taking you to the places you want to go? Jim Rohn Shortly after I met my mentor he asked me," Mr. Rohn, how much money have you sa ved and invested over the last six years?" And I said, "None." He then asked, 'W ho sold you on that plan?" Jim Rohn It is better to be a lender than a spender. Jim Rohn We can have more than we've got because we can become more than we are. Jim Rohn The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. Yo u cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potenti al and stretch yourself to the limit. Jim Rohn Pity the man who inherits a million dollars and who isn't a millionaire. Here's what would be pitiful: If your income grew and you didn't. Jim Rohn Success is Easy, But So is Neglect by Jim Rohn People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time whil e many of the people I knew did not.

It is not the lack of opp ortunity - America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unpr ecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books libraries are full of books and they are fr ee! It is not the schools the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plen ty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors. So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of "easy to" and "easy not to" t hat you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, "easy"; but potentially life-cha nging activities and disciplines. Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn Lessons of a Lifetime Success is not something you pursue. What you pursue will elude you. It can be li ke trying to chase butterflies. Success is something you attract and accumulate by the person you become. "If you could do better, should you? It s not a bad question to ask. If I could do better, should I? If I could read more, should I read more? If I could try more should I try more? If I could expand my business and help more people, make my enterprise more successful, should I do that? And there s always the contest of ho w far to go and how much to do .If you ve got one little successful business going, should you double it? Should you triple it? Do not let expansion absorb all of y our time or take away time that you should be devoting to in your life: your bus iness and your friendships and your family. It is a never ending challenge: prio rities and reordering priorities in your life." "Be faithful when the amounts are small. If you wish to preside over riches, you must start when the amounts are small." "Life is worthwhile if you try. Try to make a difference, try to make some progr ess, try to learn a new skill, try to learn a new sport. It's worthwhile if you try. Doesn t mean you can do everything, but there's a lot of things you could do if you just try." The above quotes are taken from Jim Rohn s newest product, Lessons of a Lifetime. "You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are the y doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Whe re do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, wha t do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Jim Rohn Seeking Out Quality People by Les Brown It is important to align yourself with what I call OQP, Only Quality People. You should endeavor to surround yourself only with people who will enrich and empow er you, people who will enable you to transcend yourself and to grow. This sort of support group, your pit crew for progress in your life, can strengthen you in moments of weakness and bring you up when you are down.

Surround yourself with people who share your vision and who also are willing to support you in pursuing that vision. You cannot make it alone in this journey. I f you find relationships that are not mutually constructive, if someone brings y ou down rather than challenges and elevates you, then you must make a decision. Can you transform this into a healthy relationship or do you need to sever it? That does not mean of course that all of the people s-men. You will never grow if you are surrounded by hough I hate being criticized by friends, I do have are people who tell me the things I need to hear. I t their vision of me. They challenge me and make me ctually, personally and spiritually. around you should be your ye backslapping sycophants. Alt some trusted critics. These trust their judgment, I trus stretch mentally and intelle

I get feedback from them that I would not get anywhere else and even though it d oesn't always feel good to hear their criticisms and challenges, I know they car e about me and about my growth. So I listen and learn. We all need someone to coach us now and then. We cannot grow in a vacuum. We hav e to be willing to seek out those with wisdom and say, "I don't know what to do; help me." The fighter and philosopher, "Smokin' Joe" Frazier, said, "All of us are like the blind man at some point in our lives, standing on the corner, waiti ng for someone to lead us across." You are not joined at the hip with your friends. Be prepared to acknowledge when a relationship has soured and to go your separate way. It does not have to be a n angry parting. Just say, "Look here, we are growing in different directions. O ur values have changed. Our goals and objectives are different now. Maybe we nee d to shake hands and say good-bye." Being able to break away from toxic friendships can make the difference between living your dreams or living a nightmare.

"We must learn to apply all that we know so that we can attract all that we want . Jim Rohn

To attract attractive people, you must be attractive. To attract powerful people , you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Inst ead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract. Jim Rohn The most important question to ask on the job is not "What am I getting?" The mo st important question to ask on the job is "What am I becoming?" Jim Rohn It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development . Only human beings can reorder their lives any day they choose by refining their philosophy. Jim Rohn Don't become a victim of yourself. Forget about the thief waiting in the alley; what about the thief in your mind? Jim Rohn It is not what happens that determines the major part of your future. What happe ns, happens to us all. Don't curse all you've go t. When you get your own planet, you can rearrange this whole deal. This one you 've got to take like it comes. Jim Rohn Walk away from the 97% crowd.
