    3 DESIGN / FRAMING

    SCOPE

This manua covers the use o the HardieFex Fiber

Cement Boards in a residentia was appication over a

seasoned timber rame or a ight gauge stee rame.

    DESIGN

    General

A design and constuction must compy with the

appropriate requirements o the current Nationa Buiding

Code o the Phiippines and other appicabe reguations

    and standards.

    Responsibility

The specier or other party responsibe or the projectmust ensure that the detais in this specication are

appropriate or the intended appication and that additiona

detaiing is perormed or specic design or any areas that

a outside the scope o this specication.

    FRAMING

    General

HardieFex Cement Boards can be xed to either timber

or ight gauge domestic type stee raming. The raming

used must compy with the reevant buiding reguations

and standards and the requirements o this manua.

NOTE:Ensure a sheet edges are uy supported with

    raming members.

    Timber

Use onl sesoned (kiln dried) tiber. Unsesoned tiber

must not be used, as it is prone to shrinkage and can

cause the sheets and rames to move. The minimum stud

    width at joints is 35mm.

    Steel

The size o the stee stud raming shoud be 0.55mm-

    1.6mm base meta thickness (BMT).

Stee sections shoud be gavanized or zinc coated. Frame

members must not be ess than 35mm wide.

    Preparation Of Frame

Ensure rame is square and straight, and work rom a

centra datum ine. Frames must be straight to provide a

fush ace to receive the sheeting.

A suggested maximum toerance o between 3mm and

4mm in any 3m ength o rame wi give best resuts.

HardieFex Cement Boards wi not straighten

excessivey warped or distorted rames and any warping

may sti be visibe ater the interna ining is appied.
