Finalmente, ha llegado el día para que nuestros estudiantes de Primera

Comunión tengan su encuentro especial con Jesús en la Eucaristía. Han estado esperando este día con entusiasmo y alegría. Escuchar

algunas de sus historias sobre su experiencia el día en que tenían que

decir sus oraciones de memoria es realmente inspirador. Sus maestros y padres han estado caminando con ellos a través de este hermoso viaje hacia el Día de su Primera Comunión.

¿Cuántos de nosotros recordamos el Día de nuestra Primera Comunión? Sabemos cómo se siente y es un evento memorable en nuestras vidas. Ese primer encuentro especial con Jesús es lo que nos hace parte de una comunidad y nos mantiene unidos como familia espiritual. Los invito a orar por nuestros Primeros Comunicantes y sus familias, para que sean una inspiración de fe para otros.

Su pequeño ejemplo de fe y amor a la Eucaristía es y debe ser fuente de esperanza de que nuestra fe Católica seguirá presente en el mundo. Acompañémoslos con nuestras oraciones y al mismo tiempo cumplamos nuestra misión como discípulos de Cristo enseñando a otros con el ejemplo.

Finally, the day has come for our First Communicants to have their special encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist. They have been waiting for this day with excitement and joy. Listening to some of their stories about their experience the day they have to say their prayers by heart is really inspiring. Their teachers and parents have been walking with them through this beautiful journey towards their First Communion Day.

How many of us remember our First Communion Day? We know how it feels like and is a memorable event in our lives. That first special encounter with Jesus is what makes us part of a community and keeps us united as a Spiritual family. I invite you to pray for our First Communicants and their families, so they will be an inspiration of faith for others.

Their little example of faith and love for the Eucharist is and must be a source of Hope that our Catholic faith will continue present in the world. Let us accompany them with our prayers and at the same time fulfill our mission as Christ’s disciples teaching others by example.

RECYCLE BINS | CONTENEDORES DE RECICLAJE

Calumet City has the opportunity to improve its recycling offerings through installing paper and cardboard recycling bins in the southwest corner of the parking lot at Our Lady of Knock .

Calumet City Resources (CCR) is a supplemental food assistance program that began at St. Victor in the later '70s as Victor Care. By 1987, Victor Care morphed into CCR, a community organization, and has been helping people from Calumet City and Burnham with food and clothing needs to this day. Although not a church organization, CCR has been, and is today, staffed mainly by volunteers of the three founding parishes of Jesus, Shepherd of Soul.

If you are or know someone who is in need of food assistance, come to Calumet City Resources located at 202 155th Pl. (main entrance on Wentworth Avenue). If you are not already in our data base, please bring a picture ID and at least two pieces of mail addressed to you. Regardless if you already receive SNAP or other food help, you are still eligible for help from us. We are open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:30 - 11:30 on non-holidays. We are affiliated with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. These are hard times for many. We're here to help.
