Luke 9:1–11 (NKJV)

1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.



3 And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.



4 “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.

5 And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”



6 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.



7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,



8 and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again.

9 Herod said, “John I have beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things?” So he sought to see Him.



10 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.



11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.


All For His Glory


John 14:12–14 (NKJV)12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he

who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.



2 Corinthians 4:7–18 (The Message)7 If you only look at us, you might well

miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us.

that. You know for yourselves that we’re not much to look at. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do,

do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken.

10 What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives!


2 Corinthians 4:7–18 (The Message)11Our lives are at constant risk for

Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us.

12 While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!


2 Corinthians 4:7–18 (The Message)13 We’re not keeping this quiet, not on

your life. Just like the psalmist who wrote, “I believed it, so I said it,” we say what we believe.

14 And what we believe is that the One who raised up the Master Jesus will just as certainly raise us up with you, alive.

and to God’s glory: more and more grace, more and more people, more and more praise!

16 So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace.


2 Corinthians 4:7–18 (The Message)17 These hard times are small potatoes

compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us.

18 There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.
