ACT PREPARATION
ACT Online Prep
This resource is the only online test prep from the makers of the ACT. Students are able to uti-
lize the program online or from their mobile app. Students can take practice tests to identify
strengths and areas of improvement, follow learning paths created based on practice test re-
sults, access a huge library of lessons to review for the ACT’s four subject tests (English, math,
reading, science), track their progress, set daily goals to stay on target, review customized
flashcards, and use the game center to further test their knowledge. The program is available at
no cost for students who register for the ACT test using a fee waiver.

ACT PREPARATION
ACT Kaplan Online Prep Live
ACT and Kaplan Test Prep offer a virtual classroom experience that delivers all the benefits of
ACT Online Prep, plus an interactive teaching experience including engaging instruction deliv-
ered in real time by expert instructors, live learning experiences, recorded sessions available
on demand to provide student maximum flexibility, and real questions and sample materials
from previous ACT test. The program is available at no cost for students who register for the
ACT test using a fee waiver.
Edgenuity ACT Prep
Seniors can participate in Edgenuity’s ACT preparation course online. This course is designed
to prepare students for taking the ACT. The program features diagnostic assessments and pre-
scriptive learning paths for a more individualized experience. This program is free and can be
accessed online at home.
ACT Prep Booklet
ACT has provided a free student preparation booklet that includes full-length tests, including a
writing test, information about the optional writing test, strategies to prepare for the ACT, what
to expect on test-day and more. Students can access the booklet at http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/

Princeton Review ACT Sessions
Students will have the opportunity to take a full-length practice ACT given under simulated test-
ing conditions. Students will learn about the endurance and skill needed to earn a strong score
on the ACT. Students will also receive a detailed performance report with personalized tips on
how to improve their score. Please review the schedule below for more details.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Stars and Heroes/ Tutoring: Monday-Friday
After school activities are available for all students interested in dance, theater, art, computer appli-
cations, financial literacy, sports and tutoring. Please see Ms. Halk to sign up.
Daily Announcements
Please listen to daily announcements during all 3 lunch periods. There is always very important
information and possible changes regarding our school day, senior information and other activ-
ities.
Spot Clinic
The Jennings School Based Health Clinic is now open! The spot clinic is a partnership between
the Jennings School District and the SPOT to bring mental health care and social services on site
at Jennings High School. Services provided include case management, health education, coun-
seling services and a comprehensive school based health center which will provide additional
services such as on site medical doctors, mental health services, social support and prevention
services, substance abuse counseling, pre-participation sports physicals, reproductive and
sexual health care, psychiatric services, and dental and vision screenings.
Saturday School
Saturday school is a free tutoring class designed to help students excel on the EOC exam. Tu-
toring sessions will be conducted by certified teachers in the academic areas of Communica-
tion Arts, Mathematics, and Science. Sessions will be held beginning at 9:00am and ending at
11:00am. Breakfast will be served from 8:45 until 9:00 and a sack lunch will be provided for stu-
dents as they leave at 11:00am. The 2015 Saturday schedule is provided below:

Volunteer Opportunities
All College Prep students are required to complete 100 hours of community service before
graduating from Jennings Senior High School. In addition, all College Prep parents are ex-
pected to fulfill their 4 hours volunteer commitment. Many opportunities are available for stu-
dents and parents to complete their service commitment. Please see Ms. Baker for more infor-
mation on how you can get involved.
Tutoring/Mentoring Opportunities
All students who signed up for the A Plus program are required to complete 50 hours of unpaid
tutoring and/or mentoring hours before graduating from Jennings Senior High School. Hours
must be completed on Jennings School District property and be approved by the A Plus Coordi-
nator. Many opportunities are available for students to complete their tutoring requirement
through Saturday School and After School programs in the district. Please see Ms. Mitchell for
more information on how you can get involved.

Acceptance Notices
Please notify guidance of your college/ university acceptances as soon as you receive notice.
Bring a copy of your acceptance letter to Mrs. Messina. We want to recognize your success.
Graduation Requirements
The requirements for graduation are as follows and are in accordance with the requirements
established by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education:
□ A minimum of 24 credits in the following areas:
□ Communication Arts-4 credits
□ Mathematics– 4 credits
□ Science-3 credits
□ Social Studies-3 credits
□ Practical Arts-1 credit
□ Physical Education-1 credit
□ Fine Arts-1 credit
□ Health Education– .5 credit
□ Personal Finance– .5 credit
□ Electives-7 credits
□ Students must take the following End of Course (EOC) exams
□ Algebra I
□ Biology
□ English II
□ American Government
□ Must pass a US Constitution and Missouri Constitution test
□ Jennings School District also requires that students take at least two Post-Secondary Assess-
ments:
□ ACT or SAT
□ ASVAB or ACCUPLACER
□ To participate in the graduation ceremony* students must:
□ Have 24 credits
□ 90% attendance or higher
□ No major discipline issues (if you are on suspension you will not participate)
□ Required attire

Destination Graduation
Graduation will take place Friday, May 26, 2016 at the Chaifetz Arena located at Saint Louis
University, 1 S. Compton Avenue 63103. please meet with Mrs. Messina to make sure you are
meeting the requirements to participate in the graduation ceremony. Remember the ceremony
is a privilege not a right.
Cap & Gown Information
Herff Jones, Inc. is providing Jennings High with cap and gowns, announcements, diplomas, and
other graduation materials. Students can begin ordering Jennings items from their website:
www.highschool.herffjones.com.
Senior Dues
Senior items will be available for purchase starting on November 18th. Students may choose
what items to purchase. Dues should be submitted to Mrs. Crosier in the main office. The dead-
line to submit payment for senior dues is April 14th.

The Apply Missouri Program The Apply Missouri program, formerly known as Missouri College Application week is intend-
ed to help high school seniors navigate the college application process. By offering Apply Mis-
souri activities within the normal school day, Jennings can ensure that every senior has the op-
portunity to receive hands-on assistance as they take the first big step towards continuing their
education beyond high school. The program will help students decide which colleges best
meet their needs and submit admissions applications.

What is FAFSA: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a docu-
ment that colleges around the country use to determine the amount of financial aid to
award to students. Any student wanting to receive any type of federal aid must com-
plete the form.
Jennings High School will be hosting three family nights to help students prepare for
and complete the FAFSA Application.

October 4th & 6th: FSA ID Workshop: The FSA ID confirms your identity when
you access your financial aid information and electronically sign Federal Stu-
dent Aid documents. In this workshop, senior students will create a FSA ID to
sign the FAFSA. For more information, please contact Ms. Killebrew .

FAFSA FRENZY: Senior parents will complete the 2017-2018 FASFA with free assis-
tance from professionals. For more information, please contact Ms. Killebrew.

Each month students are selected to be the student of the month. These students are
chosen for their contributions to the school and community and for also being caring,
energetic students who have shown to be a good role model for other students.

Congratulations

Rodrick Harvey
Senior of the Month for October
Rodrick Harvey is a senior here at Jennings and currently has a
92% attendance rate. Rodrick likes to play the piano on his key-
board, listen to music and read anime books. In his spare time
Rodrick enjoys attending community events and music events in
his area. Rodrick plans to attend St. Louis Community College
with the hopes of studying music and becoming a musician.
Quinisha Keely is a senior at Jennings Senior High and she cur-
rently has 96% attendance rate. Quinisha has a 3.4GPA and is
presently ranked number three of her senior class. Quinisha is a
member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders
of America (FBLA) and the Jennings Volleyball team. She also vol-
unteers at food drives, the Lupus Walk, and the Greenwood Cem-
etery. Quinisha plans to attend the University of Illinois@ Chica-
go in the Fall 2017 and plans to major in Pre-Dentistry in the
hopes of becoming a Dentist.
