    Vibe 107.6 is a not-for-profit community radio station brought to you by local people everyweek. All of our shows are produced and presented by volunteers and we offer Watford anexclusively local radio service that promotes local events and focuses on delivering a localsound to under 30s.

    JOB DESCRIPTIONGeneral Manager Vibe 107.6

    Salaries: NilHours worked: Between 16 and 30 hours per week (exact hours to be agreed)Reporting to: The Chair of the Board of Vibe 107.6Responsible for:All volunteers

    1. Main Objectives of Post The General Manager provides the executive leadership of 107.6, being responsible

    for the overall strategic management and operational direction. This includespersonnel and administrative matters, fundraising and the core activity of running aCommunity Radio Station.

    The General Manager will ensure that Vibe 107.6s activities and performance are ofthe highest quality, that they respond to the policies, goals and objectives of Vibe107.6 and are carried out within the principles of equal opportunities and Vibe 107.6sConstitution.

    The Station Manager reports to the Chair of Vibe 107.6 and to the Board of Vibe107.6.

    2. Specific Responsibilities

    To plan and develop the Radio Station as a not-for-profit business including strategicand financial forward planning. To deliver the stations business plan and to report tothe board on a regular basis on its progress.

    To agree appropriate working practices with the Board to ensure the station is wellmanaged and to agree, and appoint, in conjunction with the Board a volunteermanagement team

    To lead, motivate and manage the volunteer body of the station based on the agreedworking practices. To ensure the volunteers are effectively trained. To recruit, trainand deploy new volunteers

    To ensure effective communication with the board, management team andvolunteers in respect of the running of the station. To produce a regular report to the

    board, as well as a regular information newsletter to the management team andvolunteers.

    To manage the administrative systems of the station and review its fitness for

    purpose on a regular basis. To develop and manage a Fundraising and Income generation plan for the station toensure future sustainability.

    To prepare and manage the annual budget of the radio station and ensure it operateswithin available resources.

    To produce the required reports to Ofcom, and other bodies to meet our licenseobligations. To ensure that the station complies with Ofcom and all other relevantregulations in respect of broadcast output. To ensure that all training and workingpractices ensure compliance with Ofcom guidelines, the editorial policy of the station,and all other relevant procedures including Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.

    To actively pursue opportunities for the development of the station in respect ofcommunity engagement, content development and programming in order to ensure

    the long term sustainability of the organisation. To ensure an effective marketing and public relations strategy is developed, leading

    to the creation of a detailed activity plan

    To represent Vibe 107.6 at a senior level with key stakeholders To promote and develop partnerships with other voluntary and community

    organisations to identify shared interests and opportunities for collaboration andmutual support.

    Experience of financial management and reporting

    Experience of people management Proven ability to give direction to staff and volunteers and the organisation

    Ability to provide advice and leadership to Board on matters of strategy and policy. Experience of implementing policy within an organisation

    Excellent ICT skills Keen interest and understanding of local issues
