Hello, my name is JONATHAN CASEY WEEKS and this is my RESUME. You can call me
CASEY. If you need to contact me you can email me at [email protected] or call me at
972-824-4422.
I've won over five million Design Awards, been featured on every page of every Communication Arts
EVER, and designed half the internet (the good half). And while that is an obvious lie, I must say I
couldn't help myself. That's what resumes are for, right? Might as well do it right.
I went to The TALENTED AND GIFTED MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL until I earned my diploma
in 2002, which is worth mentioning because it won best high school in America in 2006 and 2007.
Although I had already graduated by then, I like to think it was the result of knowledge I imparted the
teachers. It's a fun thought.
In 2002 I began studies in Computer Science at THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS. By
2004, I had become frustrated with RULES in programming and found my way to the School of Visual
Arts and Design where I earned my BFA in Communication Design with an emphasis in Art Direction in
2008. To summarize my college experience: I spent 6 years learning to be part computer nerd, part
Typographic nut.
During my time in college I never slept. Here's why:
Besides school, I worked as a Typesetter at COOPERS COPIES AND PRINTING from April
2007 to August 2007(where I put up with a boss whose vocabulary comprised entirely of expletives) as
well as an unpaid intern at SEE PICTURES under the brilliant photographer SCOTT HARBEN
from June 2007 to August 2007. From September 2007 to July 2008 I worked as a Design Intern at
ECOLAB in the SSDC DIVISION where I learned functional design and real world advice from my
boss, Rich Baker. Around the same time I worked at PROJECT ONE ADVERTISING as an Art
Director Intern and experienced the phenomenon of creating unusual ideas and getting paid for the first
time.
Once I graduated and took a month of vacation(slept), I found my way to a web startup known as
CANONBALL CREATIVE in August 2008 where I work today. At Canonball I've had many roles:
Web Design, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Wireframe Design, Application Design. I've
worked with client relations, taught other art directors how to work with interactive design, dabbled in
project management, provided guidance to a young designer, taught Developers to respect good
design, done copywriting, photography, and worked with HTML/CSS.
It's been an amazing experience, but there's one major issue: I need to work somewhere I can learn
from people more experienced than me.
As for my technical skills, I'm well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I know my way around
in Flash, I'm familiar with AfterEffects and I've worked on the sidelines of HTML/CSS enough to where
it's getting to the point that I might as well just build a website to say I'm well-versed in it.
On a personal note, I'm frequently recognized as a morale booster and a dedicated, self-starting
employee. Although that sounds like a tired old statement, it's true; I may leave projects at work when
the clock says I can go home, but I never stop working. My focus in life is to recognize patterns and
break them. That’s why I took a resume out of its boring “easy-to-read” format and turned it into
something different. Something harder to read.
