Michael is attached to our school from regional office along with the other schools in the Dalby cluster of state schools. Michael visited class- rooms and was impressed with the engage- ment of our students from Prep to Year 10 and was particularly interested in the quality of the work the students were producing. Michael and I reviewed academic reading data from our school and 2018 saw a 10% increase of our students reaching above the benchmark. This is school data that we have collected along with our A to E data is reflective in our NAPLAN achievement and improvement in the last 2 years. Leading Learning Collaboration Next Monday we will enter the final phase of our work with Dr Lyn Sharratt from Toronto Canada with a 1 day workshop in Toowoomba. So far we have been part of 2 workshops with Dr Sharratt and the processes we have put in place over the last 2 years have come from the work we have done with Lyn. Last year we implemented a full 2 hour literacy block across the primary school as well as develop our ability to identify the learning intent and success criteria of the unit of work that is to be completed by the student. Research has shown that by stating clearly what the students need to do and identify the steps they need to complete in order to achieve success is very powerful. This year we will build on the learning intent and success criteria to develop a feedback model to students to allow further improvement in the quality of work achieved in class. 2019 Final Numbers Last Thursday was Day 8 which is the number collection for state schools in Queensland. This year we have 94 students enrolled at Bell State School with 66 in the primary and 28 in the high school. Focus Expec-tation

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be an Active Learner

Skill Term 1, Week 3: Learning New Skills, Activities and Games.

Context All settings

Intro-duction

Learning new games and activities is about learning or expressing oneself through physical activities. It in-volves physical co-ordination, using one’s motor skills such as facial expressions, posture and body language. This type of learning can be developed though role-plays, enactments, frozen frames, dance and con-structing materials. It can be a very effective alternative to other types of learning as it involves physical activity and can readily generate energy in the classroom. You will notice students who are strong in this area as they are often the athletic sporting types, who are well coordinated and good at plays, dance or perhaps crafts.

Focus Expec-tation

Be Respectful

Show Pavilion Assistance Needed Urgently The Cooking Section is in desperate need of assistance for judging day, Friday 1st March. If you are able to offer a few hours of your time, if you are willing to learn something new, we could use your assistance. Working hours are from 8.00am onwards. We are the largest section of the pavilion, needing 2 judges working at once, so many workers are re-quired. All food is provided. If you are able to help in any way, please contact K. Nation 46634737 and leave a message.
