Entering the next stage as a global hub for drug developmentJapan has joined the Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme (PIC/S). This enables overseas suppliers to synchronise with Japanese pharmaceutical manufacturers regarding manufacturing and quality control. Liberisation of Over-The-Counter medicines

The liberalisation of Over-The-Counter medicines and the allowance of sales of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs online serve to boost pharmaceutical sales. 99.8% of OTC drugs are now eligible for sale online (more than 11,000 drugs).
