Calling All Volunteers!
We are quickly approaching the date of our Science Fair, March 1st. Fall Creek is participating in Humble ISD’s judge exchange program again this year. This helps eliminate any parent-child judging conflicts. To participate, Fall Creek needs volunteers willing to judge science fairs at other elementary schools within the district. The volunteers will need to be available till at least 2pm and will be provided a light breakfast, refreshments and a lunch. The judging process is stress-free and enjoyable. Seeing the student’s crea-tivity and passion for science is very rewarding. To volunteer visit https://fcpto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteer/5417
Attention 5th Grade Parents: Fifth Grade students will begin our Recorder unit this February! All students will have the opportunity to learn the technique and skill of playing flute-like instruments while reading music in the classroom. Here at Fall Creek, we participate in a program called Recorder Karate, which is highly competitive and allows the students to progress at their own pace. Recorders will continue through the end of the school year. Starting today, we will have recorders available for pur-chase for $7.00. If you choose to purchase a recorder from Fall Creek Elementary, you will need to purchase with a credit card online at the link provided below. Cash and credit card payments will not be accepted. All re-corders must be purchased by Friday, January 29th at 4:00 p.m. https://humbleisd.revtrak.net/tek9.asp?pg=products&grp=41
Thank you for your support!

Humble ISD elementary students in grades 2-5 now have access to online word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations through Google Apps for Education. Sec-ondary students in Humble ISD have been using Google accounts for several years and now the district has cre-ated Google accounts for 2nd-5th grade elementary stu-dents. The Humble ISD Google Apps for Education do-main provides a safe, secure and closed digital environ-ment for our students and teachers.
Students have individual Google accounts that have usernames similar to email accounts. However, elemen-tary students will not have access to email. The login will allow students to create and store work in Google Drive (online storage). It will also allow them to share work with their teachers and peers. Their work can be ac-cessed from most devices with Internet access. Students will maintain their access to Google Drive as they move from grade to grade with Humble ISD.
Their Google login will also allow them to login to the Google Chromebooks recently acquired for our campus.
This week’s social skill:
“Knowing Your Feelings”
1. Think about what happened.
2. Decide on the feeling.
3. Say “I feel _______________.”
The Spring Fundraiser committee is working to put together fabulous raffle and auction items for the event as well as getting event spon-sors. If your family or company would be in-terested in making a tax-deductible donation of any products/services/event tickets/destinations to the event or would like more information about sponsorship opportunities please email [email protected] Donors will receive recognition for their donations and sponsorships at the event, online and through social media. To purchase tickets, go to https://fallcrk.ejoinme.org/MyEvents/2016SpringFundraiser
The Everybody Counts program is scheduled for the week of February 22nd. Everybody Counts is a short curriculum that helps children learn about children with special needs. Each grade level will learn about a different disability during their Specials class that week. Some of the topics include blindness, hearing impairment, cognitive, motor and learning dis-abilities. It provides a great opportunity for children to see the common ground they have with their peers as well as helps them develop compassion for those who may have different
struggles from them. In order to make this week a success, we will need volunteers. A call for volunteers will be coming soon. You don't want to miss out on teaching this important life skill! If you have any questions, please contact Tracy at [email protected].

Our school is proud to partner with the American Heart Association and participate in Jump Rope For Heart!
Over the next few weeks, we will be learning about how to take care of our hearts, spreading the message to friends and family, and helping others when we can! The American Heart Association will be coming to our campus on Wednesday, February 3rd to give our students the 5 For Life presentation – 5 ways kids can make healthy choices!
The American Heart Association’s goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of Americans. They will challenge our kids to start living a healthy lifestyle now to prevent problems later; and give them an opportunity to participate in a service learning project that funds the fight against heart diseases and stroke – the #1 and #5 cause of death in our country.
Any student who registers at heart.org/jump and raises at least $150.00 online BEFORE the 5 For Life presentation will be honored at the assembly and receive Toby (pictured below).
Any student with at least 1 online donation will also be receiving Super Pup AND Ninja Star on this day.
Any student raising at least $85 online will receive Martia N. Mutley!
Super Pup’s message is: Give when you can!
Ninja Star’s message is:
Be aware of sodium!
Martia N. Mutley’s mes-sage is: Eat colorful foods!
Please join us in teaching our students the importance of being heart healthy for life!
IMPORTANT: ** Donations must be made by 6 PM the day PRIOR to the American Heart
Association coming to our campus **
