SHARING ASSEMBLY By Priya in 8C Bondar does it again! Our Sharing Assembly was amazing! We had a Drama presentation from Time to Change that taught us about different types of bullying and how we can make a difference in our school, in our community and at home. The Grade 3's took us on a magical journey through Music and Dance to tell the story about the Sorcerer's Apprentice. They sure know how to put on a show! We also heard a great performance from the Grade 1s! They sang a beautiful song called, Just One Candle that warmed our hearts. The Bobcats did a great job sharing their talents with the school! I'm excited to see how we will top those performance next time! CAROL SINGING By Rachel in 8C and Ms. Rodic On December 9th and 12th we had a lot of interesting and festive events going on here at Bondar! For starters, we had a visit from an old friend...Mrs. Hamilton! She joined us to take part in our Caroling Assembly on the 12th. The grade 8s led the caroling, showing off their dance and DPA moves! Mrs. Kuschei also stopped by to help out! It felt like old times with teachers participating and students singing along. We also had special performances from Urban Step, who stepped and caroled like pros, Grade 2 and 3 students who sang songs of Christmas cookies and the Grinch, a team of teachers who sang and danced their hearts out and a special musical performance from Ms. Stockwell! Everyone had a great time! JANUARY, 2015

LEARNING ABOUT FIRE SAFETY By Aman in 8E

In the fire safety presentation, I learned a lot about fire safety. For example, I learned when there's a fire and it gets oxygen, it gets bigger and bigger. But if the fire does not get oxygen it does not grow. Also if you are cooking anything and it gets on fire (the thing you’re cooking), don’t try putting it out. Just quickly try to cover the pot or pan or whatever you’re cooking and get outside. I also learned if there any other types of fire you shouldn't try to put it out. You should call 911 and the fire department will take care of the fire. If you feel kind of sick at home, but when you get out of the house you feel better, you should call 911 and the fire department can check for carbon monoxide for you. Now IF there is a fire I will know what to do.

GRADE 6 ATTENDS BARRA MACNEILS CONCERT By Kianna in 6D

On Wednesday December 10 the grade sixes went to "The Meeting House" in Oakville to see a band called the "Barra MacNeils". They played Celtic music and even sang some songs in a Celtic language. Something very interesting about

the Barra MacNeils is that they are all siblings. They sang a song about Christmas and one of the members pretended to be Santa! Overall the field trip was great.

GRADE 4 GEOLOGISTS By Miss Cooper

Miss Cooper's father Mr. Cooper visited our Gr. 4 students on December 2 to give a presentation about Rocks and Minerals for their current science unit. He brought a slideshow detailing the life of his career as a world-travelling mining analyst and had some interesting quizzes such as "what a geologist might wear" and "which everyday objects are made from mined materials." Students were even allowed to take home souvenir rock and mineral samples to examine! Thanks, Mr. Cooper for your time and 'autograph session' after the presentation!

BAKING WITH BUDDIES By Palvir in 7E

On Thursday, December 11, 2014 our class had a fantastic time with our buddies, helping our buddies find the Ginger Bread Man. Our class was learning procedural writing in language so we decided to make a treasure hunt for our buddies. Everyone in our class made groups of three and each group planned a route and brainstormed ideas for clues. Then all the groups made a creative clue and we placed the clues around the school. Later on, our class went to the staff room and we hid the cookies and waited for our buddies to come. After that our buddies came and they were surprised that the ginger bread man cookies weren’t in the oven. So then we went on the treasure hunt with our buddies and found the clues and found the ginger bread man cookies.

Lastly we all decorated our ginger bread man cookies and we ate the ginger bread cookies! We had a really fun day with our buddies and our buddies had a great time as well!

KISS ‘N RIDE SAFETY SIGNS

There are new signs in the Kiss ‘N Ride area to remind everyone to be safe! The signs are designed by the Bobcats who won last year’s contest. The signs remind us all to drive safely as you drop off and pick up students. Please take a look as you slowly drive through the Kiss ‘N Ride lane!

By Saamiyah in 8A First the presentations around the school, then the Norwegian government officials and Eldorado School, and now we are presenting to teachers from other schools. When we first started this group, we never thought we would get so far after doing just a few things not only around the school, but also involving schools around our community. We had a “short notice” presentation after two weeks back after the holiday. In this presentation, four members from Time To Change had the opportunity to present to a few people from the Red Cross Program as well as a few of our teachers. This was an amazing opportunity that we had to prove ourselves and spread the message to others. We also answered all of their questions to the best of our ability regarding the Red Cross Workshop we had attended last fall. All in all, it was another great opportunity to make ourselves more active and spread our important message!

By Simrit in 8C On January 8th, three students who are part of Time To Change got an opportunity to travel by taxi to Eldorado Public School. We had been invited to share some in-formation and do a lesson about “Power” to a group of students at a Red Cross Workshop they were taking which we had also taken last year. It was a wonderful experience to talk to others about this workshop and we were very well prepared to do a presentation. This was a wonderful leadership opportunity and it was awesome presenting to others.
