January 2020 Hi All, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year! With the new year comes the new year of HRC related activities and I encourage you to participate. I have learned over the years, you get more
satisfaction out of the results of your efforts than what you put into it. It is great to show up to the hunting field and have your dog do a great job of hunting and retrieving your game. Upcoming events: Annual Meeting. (Details will be in this Newsletter). Typically we would be voting on the new proposed Running Rules Changes, but apparently some technical difficulties within HRC/UKC are keeping that from being ready. So, we will elect new officers (mostly re-electing the existing staff) but we will be looking to fill a couple Board member positions. We will also put together the Training Calendar for the year (please step up to be a coordinator). Pizza and drinks will be provided as well as 3 gift cards as door prizes ($100, $50, $50). Upland Training Day Feb 8: Scheduled for Feb 8th with backup
dates of 2/9, 2/15, 2/16. We have committed to buy about 70 chukars for the training day of which about half of them have been spoken for. Please send me a note if you want in on this and request birds in even quantities (for logistical efficiencies). SCHRC Upland Hunt Test: As mentioned previously, the fine folks at SCHRC will be hosting an Upland Hunt Test on the weekend of Feb

better this year. They are adding that clause into the contract “fully feathered mallards”. Price has gone up for this next year. Mike will work with Keith on getting contract signed. Annual Meeting – January 15, 2020 at Fort Lupton Rec Center at 6:30pm. Joe volunteered to get pizza and the drinks will be furnished by the Rec Center. We will have three gift cards for door prizes. Mike will get them. Board members and officers will be elected however officers have agreed to serve their second term. We have some members on a list for board members and will recruit some at the meeting. Membership for 2020 is coming due in January. Mac however is having back surgery and will not be attending the meeting. Lee Ann and David will fill in for her at the annual meeting and have your membership cards available for 2020. Leases for 2020 have all been paid. We have retained the Powell property, East ponds and Mary’s place. We discussed other places that we could possibly get for training. These will be looked into for further discussion. MISCELLANEOUS – Myles brought up that we may have an opportunity to get some 870 Shot guns. He will look in to the cost of getting them and more information on them. Lee Ann had issues with using the 501 (3)c to get exempt status from sales tax. She found out there is one more form to be submitted to the State of Colorado to get this. She will look into it and submit the form. OLD BUSINESS: Southern Colorado is having their upland test on February 22 and 23, 2020. Meeting Adjourned
22 and 23. Please support the club by entering their test. Upland Tests are always a good time and an opportunity to earn your Upland Hunter (UH) title in one weekend. If your dog can hunt upland birds and sit to the whistle, you are about 95% ready for this test. Thanks, see you soon. If you have any questions, please let me know. Mike and Mojo [email protected]

HRCH Louis of Loveland MH
Louis is a well-mannered, trainable, and responsive dog with a lot of drive. I chose Louis as a puppy not only because of an outstanding pedigree but because both of his parents were steady and quiet at the line. That was important to me and their marking and han-dling ability was also exceptional. These traits were passed down to Louis and if paired with the right female, will be passed down to your pups as well. Louis is steady at the line, quiet, and is a pinpoint marker. He loves to run blinds and handles literally precise-ly. Louis achieved his Hunting Retriever Champion title with a 100% pass rate. He also went six for six in Master and received his Master Hunter title in 2019. He passed the 2019 Fall Grand and is planning on running the 2020 Spring Grand. Louis is an out-standing waterfowl and upland dog in the field. If you are interested and feel your female and Louis would pair well, let’s talk. Mike Schwan 970-203-5396. [email protected]
