The Hudson Valley HOG TOYS FOR TOTS drive was a resounding success due to about 20 boxes out in the community and the generosity of our members. Our presentation the toys to the USMC League on Saturday, December 10 th was wonderfully fun & so rewarding. We had a motorcade of HOGs, an escort from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department and all of this with SANTA up front on a Harley. Special thanks to our Santa, Angelo Leone and his favorite elf, Elaine. Thanks to Officer Angelo Bragaglia, R.C Sheriff & Corporal Bhaskar, USMC Reserve for their support. The support of Tom & Madison Orlando and everyone from Hudson Valley Harley- Davidson was outstanding. They are the best sponsoring dealer we could have. It is time to renew your membership. Please fill in the enrollment form that was e- mailed to you and bring it to the January 4 th meeting at the dealer or drop it off in the HOG box in the dealer or mail it to HV NY HOG, 33 Route 304, Nanuet, NY 10954. Dues are $20 for full or associate members. The January meeting is the 4 th…. Come early, especially if you are renewing your membership. The HV NY HOG’s annual Holiday Party is Saturday, January 14, 2017 7pm at the Knights of Columbus, 150 Erie Street, Blauvelt, NY. Safety Tips

Group Riding and T-CLOCK

If you have not already done so, I strongly urge every rider and passenger to view, re-view and re-view again, the MSF Group Riding Video: RidersEdge Guide to Group Riding. It is chock-full of recommended and accepted safety practices. It can be viewed at the following:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzu_44A3vB0

In the interest of importance, conciseness and brevity, the following are for you to digest:

First, we continue to observe that hand signals are not being passed along during rides in a consistent and relevant manner. Remember to pass them back and to do so in a meaningful manner, such that the riders behind you are alerted to the reason for the signal, in a correct manner, at the proper time and location. Remember, if you detect a reason to alert riders behind you of a potential hazard, do not hesitate to initiate the appropriate hand signal, regardless of your position in the group.

Second, remember to perform the T-CLOCK check prior to each ride and to adjust for temperature, weight, passengers and road conditions.

T Tires and wheels

C Controls (levers, cables and function)

L Lights and switches

O Oil and fuel (also, start with a full tank…empty bladder)

C Chains/belts and chassis

K Kickstand; side stand; center stand

Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy, prosperous…and most important…safe, enjoyable riding seasons throughout 2017!

Tom Pflomm, HV HOG Safety Officer
