8 Bellevue St is centrally located in an expanding and exciting part of Newcastle West. New shops, cafes and place making projects are creating a hub of interesting places and people within a stone's throw of interesting places and people within a stone's throw of Newcastle’s CBD. With Newcastle’s train line in jeopardy, Wickham station is looking at becoming a launching pad for Newcastle’s city and coastal attractions, already becoming a threshold to the city for cars (as a result of free parking and proximity) for people to enjoy the city energetically or leisurely. Newcastle’s mild climate and energetically or leisurely. Newcastle’s mild climate and gentle topography as well as its growing reputation as a young artistic hub presents bicycle riding as a viable, long term, green and cheap alternative to the train line and cars.Firstly we propose a platform, making the space useable Firstly we propose a platform, making the space useable for sitting, coffee, kids, sun and activity. Within the covered space we propose an unmanned, D.I.Y, bicycle tune up stop. A place that provides basic tools for on the go repairs and tune ups, pumping up tires, tightening handlebars and the like. Additionally this place provides handlebars and the like. Additionally this place provides short term bike storage in a place that has ample passive surveillance whilst adding to street activity. This space provides a never before attempted opportunity for, "the lycra clad", to grab coffee from nearby WHILE repairing their bikes all under their beloved public eye.
