2.About JAMA Standard Material Datasheet

In Japan, the automobile part manufacturers and the automobile manufacturers have implemented the standardized investigation after discussions. After that JAMA Standard Material Datasheet applied to investigations into substances of environmental concern after October 1, 2006.

Implementation of the JAMA Standard Material Datasheet

-Requirements on reporting to the Japanese automobile manufacturers have been standardized in line with the IMDS (Most of the automobile manufacturers have implemented the IMDS to collect data. ). - An introduced appropriate error checking function has made data more accurate.

You can download the newest JAMA Standard Material Datasheet from the JAPIA WEB site. JAMA Standard Material Datasheet has two Excel files. You should check the Excel files names as follows. Data input form : jamasheet_en20070701(v202).xls External file : EXLIST-2007-07-01EN.xls

The External file has materials and substances database. You can’t refer the External file, if you need to refer the information, you should download the reference file. You need to use a PC equipped with at least the following performance.

CPU: Pentium II 350 MHz or above

Memory: 128 MB or above

Remaining HDD capacity: 50 MB

With the above requirements satisfied, the following software environment guarantees the operation.

Notice : Don’t change the External file name If the name is changed, Excel macro-software doesn’t work and you can’t fill your data. You can change the Data input form file name as you like.

First you double click Data input form and you click the Excel-macro software to work.

Next window you enter the password for Data input form.

Now you can see the 4 Excel sheets.

This window asks you if the Excel-macrosoftware works or not in Japanese.

When you enter the password, your computerkeyboard should not work ‘Caps Lock’ key.

If you can’t see this window,you should change your Excelfunction.

If your Requestor sends the CSV file for investigation to you, you should place the CSV file in the same folder, too.

You click ‘Import CSV’ button to enter the data automatically.

Notice : About CSV file importing procedure 1)Data input form should be no data and virgin. 2)You should not access CSV file by Excel, because Excel breaks the data. If CSV file is broken, you should ask your Requestor to send CSV file again.

You use ‘Entry’ sheet, but you should read ‘Description’ sheet first if you fill data first time. You can understand the meanings of input items and check the item-by-item input method. You can jump between ‘Entry’ sheet and ‘Description’ sheet. As you can see the part structure on P.6, the part structure of the delivery part is ‘1’.

To fill the component parts table, you can use ‘Row copy’ button. The delivery part has 3 components parts under the part structure. First you click Row No.24 and you click ‘Row copy’ button three times, and the result is followed.

You fill 3 components according to P.6.

The part, 24101-23670 PLATE SUB-ASSY, has 2 component parts. You can copy the row in the same way and fill 2 components according to P.6.

Change the part structure from ‘1’ to ‘2’

Above all you finish filling the Part organization (Delivery part & Component parts

table). Next you proceed filling the Component materials (Material table). Before filling the materials data, you should know the material definition in IMDS. IMDS regulates that the material is homogeneous, not heterogeneous. It means that plating steel is heterogeneous and has a few kinds of homogeneous materials. This time you can understand IMDS material definition by the example of electroplating steel SECC(JISG3313, if you don’t know JIS, see ISO5002).

You can understand SECC has three kinds of homogeneous material.

JISG3313 shows you that SECC is made from SPCC.

Notice : To avoid errors You can’t enter SECC, because the Error check of JAMA sheet diagnoses that SECC is an error. Now you fill the Component materials (Material table) according to P.6. Item No. Item name Data needed

To fill the Component materials (Material table) of SECC, row copy the Row No.29 twice.

Do not enter the weight datum. Only the first cell(L-10 in this case) canhave the weight datum.

This time 2411323670(made of SECC) has 3 materials as follows. Material Weight Steel (SPCC) 3.1 g Zinc plating 0.09 g Chromate film 0.01 g Total 3.2 g

For your information, SPCC is Cold rolled mild steel in JIS, and you can find CS in ASTM, Grade1,2 in SAE, DC01 or DC03 in EN, etc. If you enter the material regulated by JIS, you are very lucky to use JAMA sheet function, Material data automatic input. First show you entering SPCC into JAMA sheet. You can scroll the scroll bar and see the ‘Material name’ column.

Scrolling

First click the O-29 cell, and next click ‘Select’ button.

JAMA sheet starts Excel-macro software. Please wait for a while. You can see the following window, ‘Select material’ window.

To search SPCC, enter ‘SPCC’ into ‘Material-No.’ and click ‘Search’ button.

Information: About IMDS node ID If you see ‘A***’, this material has substance data regulated by JIS. You can not use ‘A***’ when you report in IMDS. You can see SPCC data entered automatically.

Notice : To avoid errors You can’t change Norms/Standards, Material No., VDA classification. You can change SUBSTANCE USAGE, SUSTANCE, JAPIA OPTIONS and if changed, IMDS node ID ‘A191’ will be deleted in Error check.

Next search Zinc plating and click the O-34 cell, and next click ‘Select’ button.

You can see the ‘Select material’ window again.

This time let’s try ‘Material name(EN)’ searching. You enter ‘zinc plating’ and click ‘Search’ button as follows. You can enter either ‘Zinc’ or ‘zinc’.

Information: Norms/Standards Searching If you want to search Material by DIN or SAE, NOT JIS, you had better enter only ‘SAE’ , not SAEJ403. JAMA sheet can’t search SAEJ403. Information: ‘Cancel’ button If you can’t search Material and click ‘Cancel’ button, please wait for a while. JAMA sheet is busy for a while.

You can notice ‘Ep-$/Zn’. This is regulated by JISH0404.

SPCC is plated, JISH0404 regulates Ep-Fe/Zn. So you should rename ‘Ep-$/Zn’ to ‘Ep-Fe/Zn’.

Notice : To avoid errors If you see ‘$’, you should replace with correct letters. You don’t have to enter ‘SUBSTANCE USAGE’ table for ‘Misc, not to declare’.

Notice : To avoid errors If you enter ‘SUBSTANCE USAGE’, JAMA sheet diagnoses an error in Error check. Tird search Chromate film and click the O-36 cell, and next click ‘Select’ button.

After choosing materials, you should enter the weight data. See P.14.

Notice : To avoid errors Material weight datum is only entered the top line of each material. Next entering part is 24112-23670,COLLAR. This part is made of 35%GF reinforced PP. First click the O-28 cell, and next click ‘Select’ button.

You can see the ‘Select material’ window again.

This time 35%GF reinforced PP is a plastic material, you can search easily by ‘Symbol’ searching. You enter ‘PP’ into ‘Symbol’ and click ‘Search’ button.

You get the following result. And you choose PP(filled) and click ‘OK’ button.

After that you can see PP-$, and you should replace ‘$’ with ‘GF35’ and enter the weight. (See P.6)

Next you enter the material of the part, 24101-23670, PLATE SUB-ASSY. It has 5 kinds of materials.

Material Weight Steel (SPHC), 24111-23670 22 g Steel (S25C), 94225-23670 4.2 g Steel (SWY11), Welding 1 g Zinc plating 0.18 g Chromate film 0.02 g Total 40 g

To show another entering method for material, SPHC and S25C are replaced with ASTM A529 and SAEJ403. By the way the 3 materials, Welding, Zinc plating and Chromate film have no part number and part name. We recommend the 3 materials are belong to 24101-23670. To enter the 3 materials, click the No.25 Row, and click ‘Row sopy’ button twice.

Now you can search the 3 materials in the same way from P.15 to P.22.

For example, SWY11 is searched as follows.

After automatic entering, you should replace Ep-$/Zn with Ep-Fe/Zn and enter the 3 Material weight data.

Now you enter the 2 materials of PLATE and NUT, WELD. Click the O-39 cell and ‘Search’ button.

When you see the ‘Select material’ window, you enter ‘ASTM’ as follows and click ‘Search’ button.

You can see the result and choose ‘Steel(Unalloyed, low alloyed)’ and click ‘OK’ button.

Now you see ‘ASTM$’ and ‘$’. You should replace ‘$’ with correct letters as follows.

You should enter the Material Weight data for A1011 and AISI1023.

That’s all for entering the Component materials (Material table). If you can not search or find your material to enter, please consult with your Requestor. And if you recommend to add your material by reasonable demand, let JAPIA to know by filling and sending ‘Application for addition to the external file’ to JAPIA by E-mail. You can download from JAPIA WEB site. JAPIA will answer you as soon as possible. (Substance table). According to the results of JAMA sheet automatic data input function, you should enter substances for 3 materials, A1011, AISI1023 and PP-GF35.

The contents of the 3 materials are following.

ASTMA529 A1011 Substance Content(%) C MAX0.27% Cu MIN0.2% Fe 98 Mn MAX1.2% P MAX0.04% S MAX0.05%

In this case the Cu content is more than 0.2%. Youshould get MIL Sheet or analytical data from yoursupplier.

SAEJ403 AISI1023 Substance Content(%) C 0.19-0.25% Fe 99.06-99.51% Mn 0.3-0.6 P MAX0.04% S MAX0.05%

In this case the Fe content is regulated, but foryour convenient Fe is treated as the rest of thesteel.

PP-GF35 Substance Content(%) PP 60% GF 35% others 5%

Others contain ‘Nothing to declare’ substances.

First to enter the substances of ASTMA529 A1011, you should copy the row by the numbers of substances, 5 times. Click the No.39 Row and click ‘Row copy’ button 5 times.

You can search substances by the JAMA sheet function. Click the Z-39 cell and click ‘Search’ button. Please wait for starting Excel macro-software.

You can see the ‘Select substance’ window.

CAS No. searching is the best way but if you don’t know the CAS No. of your substance, you can search by the substance name. So you first search C by the name of carbon, and click ‘Search’ button.

Many substances containing ‘carbon’ letters are showed. JAMA sheet can show 500 substance at a time. Scrolling the bar and find ‘carbon’. Click ‘OK’ button.

The third substance, iron is searched in the same way. Click the Z-41 cell and click ‘Search’ button.

In the ‘Select substance’ window, you enter ‘iron’ and click ‘Search’ button. After that you choose ‘Iron’ and click ‘OK’ button.

The fourth substance, manganese is searched in the same way. Click the Z-42 cell and click ‘Search’ button.

In the ‘Select substance’ window, you enter ‘manganese’ and click ‘Search’ button. After that you choose ‘Manganese’ and click ‘OK’ button.

The fifth substance, phosphorus is searched in the same way. Click the Z-43 cell and click ‘Search’ button.

In the ‘Select substance’ window, you enter ‘phosphorus’ and click ‘Search’ button. After that you choose ‘Phosphorus’ and click ‘OK’ button.

The last substance of this material, sulfur is searched in the same way. Click the Z-44 cell and click ‘Search’ button.

In the ‘Select substance’ window, you enter ‘sulfur’ and click ‘Search’ button. After that you choose ‘Sulfur’ and click ‘OK’ button.

After selecting the substances, you should enter the substance portions. You can enter two ways. When a substance portion has a range, you can enter JAMPIA OPTION table. When a substance portion doesn’t have a range, you can enter only Portion column. This time ASTMA529A1011 has ranges, and PP-GF35 doesn’t have ranges. First you can see the results of JAMA sheet automatic functions. For example, the result of JISG3523SWY11 is entered as follows.

You can enter ASTMA529A1011 in the ‘JAPIA OPTIONS’ table. You can scroll the JAMA sheet and remember the Row’s number or ‘SEQ No’.

As you can see the portions of ASTMA529A1011 at P.30, you can enter as follows. You must ask your supplier about the Cu portion. And the Fe portion is treated as ‘Rest’ because of using JAMA sheet function.

JAMA sheet willcalculate totalportions automatically.

Your supplier’s report

You can enter SAEJ403AISI1023 in the same way. The result is showed as follows.

JAMA sheet will calculate total portionsautomatically.

PP-GF35 has no portion range, so you can enter as follows.

Notice : To avoid errors ‘Misc., not to declare’ must be the content less than 10%.

Notice : To avoid errors The width between the maximum and minimum values of a percentage per contained portion on a substance to be reported must follow the IMDS recommendation. (See the Table below.)

Notice : Errors caused in the portions data that has ‘A***’ node ID All IMDS registered materials that have IMDS node ID cause NO errors. But some materials that have ‘A****’ node ID cause errors because of above tolerance limits. After JAMA sheet will be changed, ‘A***’ node ID s will be renamed IMDS node ID. Errors will not be occurred. So you can ignore this tolerance check error.

After that you can enter the ‘SUBSTANCE USAGE’ table. ‘JAMA code of specific substance usage purpose’ is defined by JAMA. Click the W-39 cell and click ‘Search’ button. And please wait for a while.

After a while you can find the JAMA purpose code of substance usage list.

To tell the truth, there is no Error check of between substances and codes. You can choose as you like. If you choose no code, Error check diagnoses errors. In this case Iron is ‘101’ and the others are ‘999’. This is a typical case.

‘useage’ is miswriting. ’usage’ is correct.

As you can see the coloring of substances, it is defined by IMDS and GADSL. Please visit IMDS and GADSL WEB sites. IMDS WEB site: http://www.mdsystem.com/html/en/home_en.htm

IMDS and GADSL define the substance classification as follows. "P" - Prohibited in all applications

"D/P" - Prohibited in some applications and declarable in all other cases. Please review the

GADSL documents for more information.

"D" - Substance must be reported if the threshold limits are exceeded, however the

substance is not prohibited to be used in automotive parts. GADSL changes the substance lists once a year every February. So JAMA sheet is changed the substances list after the GADSL change.

Next you can enter the material, PP-GF35. PP-GF35 has 3 kinds of substances (See P.30), so you copy the Row twice.

In the ‘Select substance’ window, you enter ‘PP’ and click ‘Search’ button. After that you choose ‘Basic Polymer PP’ and click ‘OK’ button.

PP has no CAS No.

In the ‘Select substance’ window, you enter ‘GF’ and click ‘Search’ button. After that you choose ‘GF-Fiber’ and click ‘OK’ button.

GF-Fiber also has no CAS No.

This is NOT an error, only a warning. JAMA sheet automatically writes Portion columns that have no data because JAPIA OPTION table is filled. You have nothing to do to correct your data, and you can click ‘Data check’ button again. You can find your data are correct.

Red No data has been entered in a required input item. Yellow The data entered is incorrect.

(4)Report the data to the Requestor

You report your data to your Requestor. First you should enter your information as follows.

The size of your data is over 1MB. So if you want to downsize your data, use JAMA sheet function. JAMA sheet can downsize the Excel file and make CSV file. To make CSV file, you move ‘Cover’ sheet, and click ‘Export as CSV’ button.

JAMA sheet asks you filing method as follows.

You enter the file name and click ‘file’ button.

You can see the CSV file by word-pad.
