THE F-TYPE IS A CONVERTIBLE TWO-SEATER DESIGNED IN THE SPIRIT OF ALL GREAT JAGUAR SPORTS CARS. ITS ENGINEERING ETHOS IS BASED AROUND JAGUAR’S EXPERTISE IN THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINIUM. AS A RESULT THE F-TYPE ACCELERATES AND BRAKES MORE QUICKLY, HANDLES MORE NIMBLY, IS MORE REFINED, USES LESS FUEL AND EMITS LESS CO2.

POWERED BY A STATE-OF-THE-ART RANGE OF SUPERCHARGED V6 AND V8 ENGINES, THE F-TYPE’S PERFORMANCE MORE THAN MATCHES THE PROMISE OF ITS DRAMATIC LOOKS. THE 495PS F-TYPE V8 S HITS 60MPH IN JUST 4.2 SECONDS AND REACHES A BLISTERING 186MPH. THE 171MPH 380PS F-TYPE S REACHES 60MPH IN 4.8 SECONDS AND THE 340PS F-TYPE IS CAPABLE OF 161MPH AND 0-60MPH IN 5.1 SECONDS.

ports cars allow us to create something that is visually exciting; visceral as well as physical. To me the definition of sports car design is being fit for purpose, wrapping up the occupants and mechanicals in the most exciting, beautiful and sensual package possible with no unnecessary adornment.

The F-TYPE can be drawn using just two ‘heartlines’. The first sweeps up from the shark gills either side of the bold grille and forms the sharp top edge of the front wings alongside the LED headlights before blending elegantly into the door. The second forms a sensual double curve in the rear wings before sweeping round the tail to those beautiful wrap-around rear lights and deployable rear spoiler.

The intent behind the F-TYPE is apparent from the moment you slip into the driver’s seat, having first been greeted by the powered handles which glide out of the unbroken surface of the door. The cabin architecture reflects its role as a ‘one plus one’ sports car, focused upon the driver and their interaction with the electronic and mechanical components that come together to create an experience far greater than the sum of its parts.

A clear division exists between the driver and passenger sides of the cabin, created by the grab handle which sweeps down from the top of the centre console. The handle also, of course, serves as a signal to the passenger that some spirited driving could be in store.
