More than 340 people gath- ered at the Four Seasons Hotel to promote ATS awareness in the community and honor the Jacovers for their three decades of service to the ATS, the Technion and Israel. The Jacovers’ outstanding leadership includes Mr. Jacover’s tenure as president and chairman of the Chicago Chapter, and his continuing service on the National Board of Directors. Participants in the festive evening—which included dinner co-chair Dr. Stephen A. Laser, ATS national presi- dent, Honorable Moshe Ram, the consul general of Israel to the Midwest, and Melvyn H. Bloom, ATS executive vice president—noted that the Jacovers are emblematic of ATS leaders who lead by doing. Their tireless and longtime dedi- cation to the Technion includes support for scholarships, the computer center upgrade in the chemical engineering building, and many other chapter projects. The event’s guest speaker was Yossi Klein Halevi, the distin- guished Israeli journalist and author who is currently writing a book about the Israeli paratroop- ers who reunited Jerusalem in 1967. After the award presentation by Lawrence I. Richman, chapter president, tributes to the Jacovers were offered by Joel S. Rothman, dinner co-chair, and Joel W. Benson, honorary dinner chair. The Jacovers listened with particular pride to the tribute offered by their sons, Aric, Evan and Brian, an attorney, electrical engineer and medical student respec- tively. “Through its students, faculty and staff, the Technion con- tributes enormously to Israel and the world,” said Mr. Jacover. “Judi and I are thankful that we are in a position to give some- thing back.” SUMMER 2004 AMERICAN TECHNION SOCIETY WEST CENTRAL REGION Jacovers Honored Right: (l-r) Dinner co-chair Joel S.
