Pastor Marty Ramey will be serving as St. Jacob’s Interim Pastor for any pastoral needs our congregation
may experience. Marty can be reached at (704) 689-8501 or you can email her at [email protected].
1 Peter 5:2 To tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the over sight, not under compulsion but
willingly, as God would have you do it—not for sordid gain but eagerly.
St. Jacob’s is here to serve you.
You can contact:
Billy McTeer, Council President (803) 309-2447 or
Gerald Lindler, Council Vice-President (803) 622-9257
It is a time to be thankful, and a time to remember and count our blessings. We need to take some
time out of our days to pause and reflect on how God is working in and around our lives. Our
blessings are right in front of us and God is constantly trying to get our attention and use us for the
betterment of His kingdom everyday. We should be very intentional in our prayer life to ask God to
help us be ever aware of this movement. God always leads to the greater and never to the lesser,
the problem is that we are usually too busy to take notice of this movement. A challenge for you in
the upcoming months is to pause and to see the many ways God is helping each of us to grow
closer to who it is we are supposed to be, the ways he is strengthening our faith, the ways he is
calling us to live, the ways he is and has always been blessing us. Let us not take our blessings
for granted, let us not abuse or forsake them either, we should celebrate, encourage and support
our blessings as they will support us.

Council voted to set up a special fund to be used to construct a digital sign at our church. They set a goal
to raise $15,000 through individual donations toward the construction of the digital sign. Any additional
funds needed will come from church funds. Council believes these digital signs will give us the best
opportunity to effectively communicate with our Church body and the surrounding community. If you are
interested in donating toward a new digital sign for St. Jacob’s, please indicate ‘Sign’ on that donation.
Council requests that these funds be in addition to your regular offering.
The Publicity Team needs a volunteer to update the church sign so it reflects upcoming
events and activities. If you are interested in doing this ministry for the church, please
contact Sherry in the church office at (803) 345-2309.

December 2017
Eight Up and Going members gathered in the Fellowship Hall at 11 AM on Thursday, Oct 12th to enjoy food (a
covered dish meal), fun (a Bingo Party) and fellowship (lots of conversations, laughter, fun and prizes, too). Devotions
and business were conducted before the meal. It has been a long time since most of us had played Bingo but we sure did
enjoy our Bingo time together. It is always good to be together to just enjoy time spent together, to laugh and to talk about
all sorts of things and to win prizes. Each person brought 2 gifts and all were different.
The best word to describe this meeting was fun!
The next Up and Going Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 9th, in the fellowship hall. The meal will be
Turkey Stew with all the trimmings. Frances Slice will have the devotions. Please bring a side dish or
dessert to share. Also, bring 2 or more items for We Care.
Thanks, Helen

Come and grab a cup of coffee immediately following the service on Sunday, November 5th.
You’ll want to enjoy this time of fellowship.
Thanks to all that made our Fall Festival a big success. It was well attended and enjoyed by all.
The Caroline Lutheran Women Annual Convocation was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lexington on
September 30th and was attended by Gloria Ziemer, Sandra Brown, and myself. It was very informative and we shared it
with the group at our meeting in October. The CLW has decided to support a foundation call RISE (Restoring
Independence Supporting Empowerment) - The Gary Sinise Foundation. It serves our nation by honoring our defenders,
veterans, first responders, their families and those in need. Please take time to go to their website which is
GARYSINISEFOUNDATION,ORG. Our group made a donation to this foundation.
At our last meeting, several events were planned for next year. You will be hearing more about these in
January, 2018.
Our thanks to all of you for helping us make 2017 a good year. We were able to help several families with their
needs. This is also our goal for 2018. It is so heart warming to know, hear, and see their gratitude for our help.
We invite all ladies in our congregation to come join us on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 4:30 PM.
We continue to collect for “We Care”. The holidays are coming up and some are not as fortunate to have a
delicious Thanksgiving meal as we all do, so let’s help make this possible. We will also be helping special families.
If you would like to make a special donation such as a turkey, ham or any item that cannot be put in the
We Care box, please contact me.
Thank you,
Phyllis Bickley, Leader
