Joining Capita Symonds in 2001 I was part of the team involved in a number of projects for

the Environment Agency. These consist of the National Strategic Flood Risk Management

Framework Agreement, in the Midlands and North and South Wessex Areas.

I was responsible for Capita Symonds’ flood risk assessment, flood mapping, flood warning

and hydrometric network design and procurement, and catchment flood management plan

developments in Wales, the Midlands and the South West. I lead an integrated team of

hydrologists, hydraulic modellers, hydraulic and environmental engineers and GIS

specialists (16 staff). I was at the forefront of the company’s work in the use of

computational flood modelling, and directly responsible for the team’s business
