Count Your Blessings . . . For each day of the feast, write down a blessing you are thankful for.
What is your personal goal for the feast this year?
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, into His courts with praise; be thankful to
Him; bless His name. Psalms 100:4
YAHWEH spoke to Moses, saying, Speak
to the sons of Israel, saying,
In the fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be a Feast of Booths, seven days to YAHWEH.
On the first day shall be a holy gathering; you shall do no laborious work. Seven days you shall bring a fire offering to YAHWEH; on
the eighth day you shall have a holy gathering; and you shall bring the fire offering to YAHWEH; it is a solemn assembly; you shall do
no laborious work of service.
These are the set feasts of YAHWEH which you shall proclaim, holy gatherings, to bring a fire offering to YAHWEH, a burnt offering,
and a food offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, the thing of a day on its own day; besides the Sabbaths of YAHWEH, and
besides your gifts, and besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you shall give to YAHWEH.
Also, in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather the increase of the land, you shall keep the feast of YAHWEH seven
days; on the first day a Holy Day Sabbath, and on the eighth day a Holy Day Sabbath.
And you shall take to yourselves on the first day the fruit of majestic trees, palm branches, and boughs of oak trees, and willows of
the valley, and shall rejoice before YAHWEH your Elohim seven days. And you shall celebrate it a feast to YAHWEH, seven days in
a year, a never ending statute throughout your generations; in the seventh month you shall keep it.
You shall sit in Sookkuhs for seven days; all who are native in Israel shall sit down in Sookkuhs, so that our generations shall know
that I caused the sons of Israel to live in Sookkuhs, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am YAHWEH your Elohim.
Leviticus 23:33-43
There are seven agricultural fruits that are native to the land of Israel. These are wheat, barley, pomegranates, figs, olives, dates and grapes. Wheat and barley are harvested in the Spring, and the other five fruits are ready to be harvested in the Autumn, before the time of Sukkot. All of these fruits come from vegetation that can grow on its own with no intervention from man. The fruits are very nutritious and have many health benefits and uses. Pomegranate – “Rimon” Pomegranates can live very long. There are some known to be over 200 years of age. The crown on the top of the fruit is called a calyx. The Israelite High Priests had pomegranates embroidered on the hem of their priestly robes. Pomegranate juice has a dark red color and it can be used to dye fabrics and make ink. Fig - “te'enah” The Fig tree is mentioned over fifty times in the Scriptures. Figs come from a tree that can grow up to 20 feet tall with very large leaves. The flower of the tree is never seen. It has tiny flowers that grow inside the fig fruit. Very small wasps crawl inside the fruit to pollinate the flowers. Olive – “Zayit” The olive tree can grow to be very old. Some of the olive trees found today in the Garden of Gethsemane are believed to be almost two thousand years old. The olives are eaten and also collected to be pressed into olive oil. Shemen is the Hebrew word for oil. Olive oil has many uses such as; anointing oil, fuel to light lamps, cooking, medicinal use, and moisturizing skin. Date – “Tamar” Dates are the fruit that comes from the Date Palm tree. The tree is very functional and every part can be used for something. The dates are eaten for food and also made into honey. The tree juices are fermented and made into wine. The trunk of the palm tree is used for construction timber; and the palm leaves are woven into baskets, mats, brooms, beds, and ropes and also made into furniture. The palm leaves are traditionally used to make the roof of a sukkah. Grapes – “Anaveem” Grapes are about 80% water. One grape cluster has an average of 75 grapes. The vine can grow up to 50 feet long and have about 40 clusters of grapes. The grapes are eaten and also crushed and squeezed to make wine. Wine symbolizes “time of plenty”.
And they came in to the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a
branch and one cluster of grapes. And they carried it on a staff by two; also of the pomegranates and of the figs.
