Entrance Arrival and Dismissal: Face Coverings Must Be Worn Bus Riders: Door 1; Walkers/ Bikes: Door 16; Car Riders: Door 17 (gym doors) All entrances will have Sanitation Mats. Students will report directly to their Advisory classroom upon arrival. Main Office Main Office can be reached by calling (812) 330-2451. Visitors will not be allowed into the building for the protection of our students, faculty, and staff. Meetings will be held virtually through Zoom or Google Meet. Doors to the main office will be partially closed. There will be a sign on the floor outside the doors where students may stand to ask for permission to enter. There will also be social distancing signage in front of all administrative assistant desks. Restrooms Restrooms will not be used during passing periods. Students will go directly to class and request a pass for the restroom. Hooks will be placed outside the restroom door based on social distancing guidelines and in accordance with the number of sinks available. Students will hang their pass on one of the door hooks to notify other students whether or not the restroom is at capacity. If the restroom is at capacity, students will wait outside the restroom door. Classroom passes will be sanitized after each use. If there is an emergency, students may use the nurse's office restroom. Restrooms will be sanitized throughout the day. Hallways Hallways and stairways will have signage and reminders about "walk on the right", physical distancing, and single file procedures. Visual reminders for physical distancing will be placed throughout the building on the floors and walls. Due to our teaming structure, which works on a modified block schedule, only one half of our population will be in the hallways during passing times. Cafeteria The cafeteria will be marked for social distance seating using student desks and will be used for breakfast and lunch. It is also an enrichment space for world language courses. 7:30-7:55 Breakfast 8:27-10:55 Enrichment Classroom 11:00-12:21 Lunch 12:30-2:55 Enrichment Classroom Gym No PE lockers will be used, but lockers will be assigned for extra-curricular athletes with a 50% capacity limit. Area/Event What Will It Look Like?Classrooms

● Jackson Creek students work in small cohort groups through our team structure. ● Approximately 43% of a student’s daily instructional time will be spent with the same cohort

during Science, Social Studies and English/ Language Arts. The remainder of their day will be in their math, PE/ Technology, and elective courses.

● In accordance with and to maintain social distancing regulations, each team, math, and elective course will have a primary classroom and an additional enrichment space assigned to them in the large group areas (auditorium, library/co-lab, or cafeteria).

● Students will, at times, be with their teacher for direct instruction in the primary classroom and will also, at times, be in the enrichment space assigned to their class. This will occur at the direction of the teacher.

● If a particular class size is such that students may safely social distance within the primary classroom, enrichment space will not be used.

● Enrichment spaces will be staffed with paraeducators, inclusion teachers, classroom teachers, counselors, and the administrative team.

● All classrooms and enrichment areas will be marked for social distancing and will be sanitized after use.

● The use of the Outdoor Learning Space and outdoor school grounds will be encouraged as classroom space, as needed and as weather permits. Social distancing and face covering policies per the MCCSC guidelines will be used in indoor and outdoor spaces.

● Desks will be in rows, socially distanced, facing the same direction. The average classroom allows for 22-25 students.

● All students will have assigned seats.● Personal school supplies will not be shared.● Any classroom manipulatives will be limited in use, personalized for each child when possible,

and sanitized after each use.

LockersNo Academic or PE lockers will be used.

LibraryChecking-out Materials: Individual patrons will sign into their Surpass account and make library reservations through their school issued iPads. Librarian and assistant will pull library materials for check-out purposes. These materials will be delivered to the students.Checking In Materials: When materials are returned, they will be collected daily on a cart and held for at least 24 hours. After this time, items will be checked in and shelved back into the library collection.The library/ co-lab is an enrichment space for the math department.

Breakfast Grab and go breakfast will be in the cafeteria upon arrival. Seating will be assigned. Allergy-free zones will be available.

Lunch Grab and go lunch will be available and students will be assigned to either the cafeteria or the gymnasium for their lunch. Students will sit in the same place each day. Allergy-free zones will be available.

Electives Elective classes will follow social distancing procedures and will have primary and enrichment space locations, as needed. All elective classes will be available for students based on choice and the student’s particular schedule.

Area/Event What Will It Look Like?Arrival Every family must complete a daily self screening for symptoms of COVID 19 of each child

before leaving home.

Facial Coverings must be worn.

● Students who are walking or bike riding will enter Door 16 and proceed directly to their Advisory classroom.

** Students with the last name A-L, or who wish to eat breakfast, arrive at 7:40** Students with the last name M-Z arrive at 7:50

● Students who are car riders will enter through Door 17 (gym door) and proceed directly to their Advisory classroom.

** Students with the last names A-L or who wish to eat breakfast, arrive at 7:35** Students with the last names M-Z begin to arrive at 7:45

● Bus riders will enter through Door 1 and will proceed directly to their Advisory classroom.● Students wishing to eat breakfast will proceed to the cafeteria upon arrival.● Sanitation Mats will be at all entrances for students and staff upon arrival.

One staff member or administrator will be at the main entrance welcoming and directing students. Another will be at parent drop-off / with walkers welcoming and directing students. The third will be in the cafeteria supervising and directing students. Various para educators will be located at strategic points within the building. All staff members will monitor that students are wearing a facial covering, maintaining six-foot physical distance, and going to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or directly to their

Advisory classroom.

Dismissal ● First wave bus riders will be dismissed at 2:55, exit through Door 1, and proceed directly to their bus.

● Car riders will be dismissed through Door 17 & 18 and proceed to their designated outdoor spot to await their car at 2:55.

● Walkers and bus riders will be dismissed at 2:58 and exit through Door 16. ● Second wave bus riders will be dismissed to the bus loading zone after the first wave has left. ● Third wave bus riders will be dismissed to their assigned location in the cafeteria to await their

bus after the first wave has left.

Intervention Intervention classes will remain unchanged as they are small group and able to maintain social distancing within the primary classrooms.

Library Book Distribution

Area/Event What Will It Look Like?Band ● The band class will use two classrooms each period in the music wing area to properly social

distance. ● Music classes will have direct access to the Outdoor Learning Space to utilize the outdoors to

practice, weather permitting. ● Students in choir will wear facial coverings at all times.● Band and Choir classes will not run simultaneously.

Strings/Orchestra The orchestra will use two classrooms to maintain social distance, the primary orchestra room and an enrichment space within a classroom.

Choir ● Students in choir will wear facial coverings at all times.● The choir will have two classrooms each period in the music wing area to properly social

distance. ● Music classes will have direct access to the Outdoor Learning Space to utilize the outdoors to

practice, weather permitting. ● Band and Choir classes will not run simultaneously.

Athletics Jackson Creek will follow all IHSAA guidelines as it pertains to athletics and extra-curricular activities. Please visit https://www.mccsc.edu/Page/386 for further schedules and guidelines.PE lockers will be given to student athletes with a 50% locker room capacity limit.

Clubs/Extracurricular Events

When possible, all clubs will meet virtually. Otherwise, they will follow all social distancing and facial covering guidelines per MCCSC policy.

Visitors You may reach the Main Office by calling (812) 330-2451. Visitors (including parents) will not be allowed into the building for the protection of our students, faculty, and staff. Visitors may wait in the front vestibule and communicate via the buzzer system available there. Meetings with administration and teachers will be arranged virtually.

Guest Teachers Guest teachers will buzz-in at Door 1 to announce themselves. After checking in and sanitizing, they will be escorted directly to their guest teaching area.

Handwashing Schedule

Hand sanitizer will be used at Door 1,16, and 17 for students upon arrival. Students will also have access to handwashing and/or sanitizing upon arrival to the Advisory classroom. Handwashing and/or sanitizing will be available at the entrance to all primary classrooms and enrichment areas. Handwashing and/ or sanitizing will be used prior to meals.

Other By creating primary classroom and enrichment spaces to maintain social distance regulations, we are better able to preserve our student's ability to take choice electives. These include high school level world languages (Spanish, French, and Chinese), advanced math and music courses, art, technology and Family and Consumer Sciences. Our block scheduled teaming structure also allows for smaller, and fewer, passing periods during a student’s academic day. 4

Area/Event What Will It Look Like?Self Screening

Every family must complete a daily self screening of each child. ● Fever (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit)● Chills● Cough● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing● Fatigue● Muscle or body aches● Headache● New loss of taste or smell● Sore throat● Congestion or runny nose● Nausea or vomiting● Diarrhea

Parents should inform the school principal if a student is experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 and the student should not report to school. Then contact your medical provider to rule out COVID-19.

Facial Coverings Facial Coverings are required for students and staff throughout the school day. Facial Coverings may only be removed under the following conditions:

1. During breakfast/lunch, if students are social distanced of six (6) feet or more2. During outdoor recess, if socially distanced of six (6) feet or more 3. During a maximum of 3-5 minute break, if socially distanced of six (6) or more feet, with all

desks facing the same direction.
