REBELStraight cut men's fleece pullover in warmNANUK 200. The large outline pawprinton the back makes it stand out from thecrowd.
STORMLOCK knit cap andSTORMLOCK POMPOM CAP A lovely knitted look with a windprooffleece lining – keeps your head and earswarm.
BLACK ICE WOMENFreedom of movement for lots ofwinter activities: this soft shelljacket is slightly fitted with kine-tic stretch. The STORMLOCK lami-nate is 100% efficient at keep ingout the wind and the innerhighloft fleece has good insula-tion performance. Added coldprotection is provided by theclose-fitting fleece cuffs.
MERIDIAN MEN A lightweight among the 3-in-1 hiking jackets. The waterproof,
breathable shell jacket is reinforced at the shoulders with tough
weatherproof TEXAPORE 4x4 OXFORD fabric. At extreme low
temperatures, the asymmetrical front zip enables a second fleece
layer to be worn as the zips are offset at the neck instead of on
top of each other.
SNOW CAMPThis sporty winter hiking shoe is made
from synthetic materials and is there-
fore particularly light and easy-care.
The TEXAPORE O2 membrane guaran-
tees excellent climate comfort and
weather protection. A thermal lining,
light padding and heat-reflecting foot-
bed keep your feet warm. With its
tread and choice of material, the new
FREEZER sole is geared up for hiking in
winter terrain.
SAVAGE ROSEThe longer cut 3-in-1 hiking jacket has a cosywinter feel about it: the lambswool-like reverseside of the fleece inner jacket provides warm in-sulation and the fake fur trim on the hoodkeeps wind and snow off your face. The shelljacket is tailored from tough weatherproof TEXAPORE TASLAN fabric.
REPULSE HOODED JACKET WOMENKeeps your ears warm. The new fleece hoodie hastwo distinct advantages: despite higher insulationit has a compact pack size and garments worn overit slide easily over the smooth fabric surface.

Pyrenees National Park
The French "Parc National des Pyrénées" and the Spanish Ordesa National Park togetherform a conservation area that contains one of the last unspoilt mountainous regions ofEurope. The French national park covers a core area of 457 km2. The landscape alternatesbetween ruggedly romantic valleys and waterfalls, icy peaks and rock cliffs. One of themost impressive features is the Cirque de Gavarnie, a huge basin with a rock cliff very po-pular with mountaineers plus one of the highest waterfalls in Europe. The encircling moun-tains rise up more than 1500 m above the base of the basin.

Accommodation
In summer there is a well-developed network of catered hostels (refuges). In winter it isworth checking out in advance which refuges are open. The mountain huts range fromcomfortable with heating, hot showers and a menu to basic, small, self-catering. If you area member of a national mountaineering club, accommodation is sometimes a bit cheaper.
We made our base in the comfortable Hotel Le Marboré in Gavarnie, a small village in themiddle of the national park. In the Vallée du Marcadau we spent the night in the very iso-lated but comfortable Refuge Wallon. The hut was managed by three friendly guys whoget all their supplies brought up by the skiers in winter. The Refuge des Espuguettes pro-vided us with a great break to get warm and dry.

Trip options
The winter sports regions in the Pyrenees are smaller than in the Alps but quieter and oftenmore idyllic. Besides ski lifts, there are opportunities for cross-country skiing, skiing tours andsnowshoe hiking. We made Gavarnie our base and did various day trips on snow shoes in theCirque de Gavarnie, in the Marcadau valley and in the Cirque de Troumouse with the Lac desGloriettes.
