IMPORTANT NOTES FOR THE 2020 NATIONAL TRIAL

The schedule and activities included in this Flyer may be subject to change based on current regulations due to COVID-19 at the time of the trial. Maryland state regulations will be posted and adhered to, and all possible precautions will be put in place to assure everyone’s safety. Please watch for e-bulletins and notes on the Members Website as we progress few the next couple of months.

This is the 38th National Trial, and there has never been a cancellation. We are trusting that will be the case this year, and the trial will go on. In view of today’s environment, your Board is making every effort to reduce expenses and be prepared in the event of changing regulations. This has been a difficult year financially for your Club, and your support of the National Trial in any way will be most appreciated and helpful in meeting this year’s operational expenses.

We are very excited to be able to hold this great event, and hope to see many of you there!

SPECIAL GO-TO-GROUND/SUPER EARTH OPPORTUNITY!

Any adult terrier entered in and receiving a passing score in Adult Open GTG or Super Earth at this 2020 National Trial will be eligible to enter Adult Championship GTG or Super Earth at this National Trial. To do

so, you must present the passing Open Adult score sheet and pay the following fee:

$18.00 class fee + $30.00 Trial Certificate fee= $48.00A temporary Trial Certificate will be provided; the actual Trial Certificate mailed to you

by the JRTCA office following the trial

This is a courtesy being extended to GTG/SE participants at Nationals due to the small number of local trials able to be held this year. It will not be offered at any other trial. Normal eligibility for

Championship GTG/SE at all other trials will remain in place. THIS IS A ONE-TIME OPPORTUNITY ONLY.

Novice” In Field” Workshop

An opportunity for the true beginner - walk along and witness a live terrier earth-working situation. Ted Ely will have an experienced dog enter the earth, mark with the Deben locator, dig to the dog, and safely remove the dog and quarry. Cheryl Hart will assist as narrator and will answer any questions you might have.

This is strictly for those who have never been on a hunt before or have never encountered quarry. This is just walking and watching - without your dog. You might be asked to help dig!

Workshop to be held in the field behind lure course on Sunday afternoon aprox. 2 pm. There will be a 10-person limit, and if there is enough interest we will do another session on Monday.

If you wish to participate, please email the club office ( ). The [email protected] 10 people to sign up will be accepted. If there is a sufficient number over that 10 who would like to do a Monday morning workshop it will be approximately 9 AM on Monday morning. There is a fee of $20 per person to attend.

Remember – this is to OBSERVE AND LEARN only, you may NOT bring a terrier to the workshop. There could be a significant amount of walking, please be prepared accordingly. NOVICES only – who have never been in the field to observe a terrier at work.

FRIDAY WORKSHOP

Friday, October 10th, 1:00 PM - Main Building (location subject to change depending on COVID restrictions)

Many of you have attended one or more of Cheryl's excellent seminars. Teaching others to understand the JRTCA breed standard and how this

structure applies to working is of utmost importance to Cheryl because above all else, the Jack Russell is a Working Terrier.

This seminar will be different than any previous seminar, so don't miss this opportunity to learn all about this great terrier.

After the main seminar there will be three other sessions of the workshop including:

(1) Tools - A display of most tools needed to effectively dig your dog out of the ground and how to use them.

(2) Locators - A display of 3 different locating systems which you will have the opportunity to use.

(3) Medical - A demonstration of the medical supplies you may need in the field and how to use them.

All seminars will be hands on.

Drawings will be held - those attending to have a chance to win hunting supplies, medical supplies and other goodies.

The TOOLS session will be given by: Ted Ely, Working Judge & Board of DirectorThe MEDICAL session will be given by: To be Determined

The LOCATING session will include: Original Deben: Lynn McPherson

Deben Long Range Locator: Johnna Oliver and Chris Halbur, GTG JudgeBellman and Flint: Nate Valley, GTG Judge

National Trial Photographs

There will NOT be a professional photographer at the National Trial; attempts at having a professional National Trial photographer have been unsuccessful in the past few years. There will be a few members at the trial taking professional-level photographs, but these folks are volunteers and although they will share their photographs with us, we cannot guarantee that all championships, etc. will be covered. Therefore, if you wish to have a

photograph of your terrier at the National Trial, please arrange to have someone take the photo for you. It will be the responsibility of the winners to submit photos to the club

office for True Grit and/or the Yearbook. We will do the best we can getting photos, but ultimately the responsibility is with you, the exhibitor. If you take photos, we would

greatly appreciate it if you would send them to us for True Grit!
