THERE seems to be some confu-sion about where exactly KlangValley's new transport hnb is setto be.

Afive-hectare site had been iden-tified at Bandar Pntra Permai bythe Subang Jaya Municipal Coun-cil (MPSJ) and the Selangor Stategovernment about three years ago.

However, as of two weeks ago, itis learnt that the original plan hasbeen aborted and a MPSJ infra-structure meeting had identifieda new location in Puchong Utamainstead,

MPSJ deputy president Mo-hamad .Yusoff Ghazali coufirmedthis change and said a request foran inter-city bus hub was put in bySyarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd.

responses to the issue.Those within the industry claim

that work at the Bandar Putra Per-mai location, which borders Pu-chong and Serdang, will progressas usual.

However, others confirmed the"plan has been aborted" as thereis no development in sight exceptshoplots and houses.

Said Mohamad Yusoff: "The ap-proval for this site was given fol-lowing a discussion with our Infra-structure Committee a week ago,when SPNBasked for a terminal."

Asked if it willbe connected to alight rail transit (LRT) station, fol-lowing SPNB's proposed train ex-tension project - from the AmpangLine to Puchong - he said: "Theyare mulling over the idea and willcoordinate suggestions regardingthe connecting points. Ideally, thatis our plan but the alignment underPhase 1,which willbe completed in

2012, is not finalised."The location said to be in Batu 14

Puchong, spanning five hectares,will feature kiosks for traders andfacilities for the staff operating thebus service.

As for the BandaI' Putra Permai

site, it looks like it would likely betorned into a site for feeder buses.

A source from the industry, whorequested anonymity, describedthe Bandar Putra Permai site as a

private initiative for a transporthub solely for. buses. It is partly ahousing estate as well.

"The terminal is based on a 2005draft plan. Therefore, the proposalfor a transport hub is still on. Butthere is no clear date for when itwill be ready," claimed the source.

Meanwhile, MPSJ councillor(Bato 14) Steven Chin Sou Bongsaid that since Puchong Utama isnow the new proposed site for anew bus terminal based on the "ap-

"The original one will not takeoff. So, to make Puchong Utama aviable hub, there has to be a con-dition attached 'that buses fromthis area be connected to key areaslike Hospital Serdang and IcrM inSerdang for the benefit of Puchongfolk.

"Puchong Utama in Bato 14 isa convenient area and residentshave also requested for an LRTsta-tion here. We will be putting up aproposal for this within the publicfeedback timeframe (until Dec 14)to the LRTurban transport provid-er," Chin said.

Asked if there was a possibilityof Bandar Putra Permai turning itinto a feeder bus terminal, as indi-cated by the industry sources, hesaid it could merely be a proposalsubmitted by the developer.

Sewage from overflowing manhole channelled I

THE developer of an apartment project inKinrara, Puchong, has been channellingsewage discharge into the main drain

which leads to the Klang River.It is learnt that the illegal activity has been

going on at the Vista Lavander apartmentsproject for more than five years.

According to residents, the overflow from asewerage manhole in the basement of the 15-storey Block A is being diverted into the maindrain.

The developer has built a mini-concretepond around the overflowing manhole andcreated an outlet to channel the sewage into amain drain.

"We expected the developer to rectify theproblem of the overflowingmanhole but theyhave found an easy 'solution by dischargingthe sewage into the drain.

"We raised the matter with the developerbut they have not done anything to rectifythesituation," said Vista Lavanderjoint manage-ment body OMB)chairmanP.Thinatayallam.

Thinatayallam said the overflow from the:manhole was caused by a faulty sewage pipe- .line.

"This is a daily affair and it has become a .hormal thing for the residents here," hesaid.

However, Thinatayallam said the negativeattitude of the developer had landed the JMBinto a lot of problems with the residents, whoblamed the management bodyfor the wrong-doings of the developer.

Apart from the overflowing manhole,Thinatayallam said the basement was alsofilled with sewage!lis~harg~ caused by theleaking sewage pipes, ;and this had deprivedthe residents of their right to park their vehi-cles in the basement

"Many of the residents are forced to parktheir vehicles outside the apartment com-pound due to this situation.

"Thepresence of the sewage also results in astrong stench pervading the neighbourhood,"he said.

When contacted, Sentosa Restu mainte-nance manager R.Devadass, who is also thebuilding manager, declined to comment.

SEIANGORis expected to have a deficitinits2010 budget, but Mentri Besar Tan Sri AbdulKhalid Ibrahim said the State was aiming athaving a balanced one by spending wisely.

"Although the budget is forecast to have adeficit, we are looking at it positively.

"We will overcome the situation and willspend not more than what we earn," he said.He was speaking after opening the Budget2010 Dialogue Session held at the Shah AlamConvention Centre on Monday.

State assemblymen, village heads and rep-resentatives from local government; NGOs,private and government agencies attendedthe two-day meeting organised by the StateTreasury.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's job-less rate is expected to dip below4% by year-end, from a high of over5% during the peak of the globaleconomic recession, according tothe Human Resources Ministry.

Though the present unemploy-ment rate is hovering at 4.1%, theministry is confident of bringing itdown, minister Datuk Dr S. Subra-maniam said.

He was speaking after officiat-ing the 2009 PSMB Conference andExhibition at Sunway yesterday.

The two-day PSMB conference

is organised by Human. Resoul'cesDevelopment Bhd, a company unde,rthe ministry.

According to the minister, thejoblessrate pre-recession was 5.1%,before climbing to over 5% last year.

"Although unewploymentraleisat4.1%presently, some 65,000Malay-sians f01lIldjobs this year. And thereis still between 50,000 and 60,000jobsreadily available in Malaysia novy,"said Subramaniam.

He also said that as of Septemberthis year, only 1,200 workers from

is among the key issues we are facingnow," he said.
