NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLEJoshua (Josh) George is an extraordinary sportsman. In 2008, he won gold and silver medals while he was competing in the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China. Josh weighs only 45 kilos and he can’t use his legs. But today, he is America’s top wheelchair athlete. He uses his arms and shoulders to push himself in a special wheelchair.

When Josh was four years old, he had a terrible accident. He fell out of the window of his family’s flat on the 12th floor of the building. Josh didn’t die, but he hasn’t walked since the accident. He is paralysed.

Josh’s parents wanted him to be like other children. They taught him to do everything sitting in a wheelchair. Josh has always loved sport and he’s been competing in different sporting events since he was very young. He also studied journalism and graduated from the University of Illinois.

Today, Josh’s life isn’t different from the lives of other athletes his age. He lives in his own flat, drives a car and travels all over the world to competitions. Josh’s determination has helped him to become a champion. He doesn’t think he’s different from other serious athletes. They must all work hard to be the best.
