The National Reining Breeders Classic will return to Texas in 2016 for the 19th show. During the seven-day event, reiners from all across the globe compete for their share of the over $1.4 million record-breaking payout! This prominent event will be held April 17-24 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, just west of Houston. As in the past, the NRBC is expected to attract contestants, owners and spectators from all over the nation and world; as well as local equine enthusiasts and targeted media. The show features a week of reining competition, plus a trade show area for display and sampling. There also are a variety of hospitality venues and social events to entertain clients and guests. Upon arrival, attendees are immersed in an enjoyable, laid-back atmosphere. This aspect is part of what makes the NRBC so unique and keeps people coming back year after year. With plenty of in-arena opportunities to school horses, exhibitors don’t have to stay up all night long to make the final tune-ups on their mount. That makes more time for fun, all of which is provided by the NRBC – from Reiner’s Golf to Texas Hold’em - fun events and parties can be found everyday at the NRBC. Whether it’s the scrumptious food at the draw parties and victory party, there are a million ways to enjoy quality time with friends old and new. It’s all part of the NRBC experience, and each year there’s something special to enjoy! Reining competitions are thrilling events for spectators too. They include multiple divisions to enable riders at all levels and horses at various stages of skill to participate, learn and improve as they master the intricacies of one of the most exciting equine sports ever. The NRBC show includes classes for world class reiners as well as kids and entry-level contestants. The NRBC also showcases a large slate of NRHA ancillary events to help exhibitors qualify for NRHA year- end awards. From the $25,000-added Open reining to the Short Stirrup class for reiners age 10 and under, everyone gets the chance to compete at the NRBC. Additionally, AQHA-approved classes are held to help riders qualify for the AQHA World Championship Show and APHA world-show qualifying classes are also held.

What is the National Reining Breeders Classic?

The National Reining Breeders Classic is, quite simply, the most successful show and stallion incentive program in performance

horse history. Enrolled foals from subscribed stallions are eligible to compete for big money as 4-, 5- and 6-year olds, and when

re-enrolled in the Classic Challenge program, horses age 7 and up can compete in the Classic Challenge events.

The program was created in the Fall of 1997 when a group of reining breeders created a stallion incentive program named the National Reining Breeders Cup. The entity’s first goal was an enrollment of 100 stallions, a number that was quickly surpassed. The list of

sires enrolled soon read like a Who’s Who of the reining industry. Currently there are over 200 stallions enrolled in the NRBC.

Foal enrollments followed suit, and the enrollment numbers have spiked steadily upward each year, with over 38,000 total foals

enrolled. Now with the re-enrollment of horses, at age 7, into the Classic Challenge Program, numbers continue to sky-rocket.

The first show, held at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in 1998, was an instant classic, setting the stage for the name change later that year to National Reining Breeders Classic.

The show was held at the Lazy E venue for the first three years, and then moved to its current location at the Great Southwest

Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas.

In the beginning, the show was reserved for 4- and 5-year-old reining horses, but later it was expanded to include horses age 4 through 6. Then, in 2011 the Classic Challenge was added to include horses age 7 and up. New in 2016 is the Development

Division. The $10,000-added NRBC Development Division is for NRBC Open Classic horses that have not won $2,000 by March 31, 2016.

The NRBC continues to grow and continues to offer next exciting options for exhibitors and owners.

The NRBC is one of the most lucrative venues in the world to show reining horses, with payouts of over $1 million each year

since 2005 and new record numbers set each year.

Horse show classes that take place at the NRBC are sanctioned by the National Reining Horse Association and earnings from the

NRBC count toward NRHA Lifetime Earnings records. AQHA classes, APHA classes and USA Reining classes round out the

picture of a show that offers something for every rider.

100% of each year’s foal enrollment dollars goes to added

money of the show four years later. In other words, the 2016 show added-money comes from the foals that were enrolled in

2012. The 2016 foal money will be used for the 2020 event.

NRBC Foal Enrollments total over 38,000!

Enrolled StallionsNATIONAL REINING BREEDERS CLASSIC

Stallion owners pay an annual enrollment fee of $1,250 due on February 1 of each year and they assist in the promotion of the NRBC by informing mare owners about the NRBC, using its logo in their advertising, distributing NRBC information to mare owners, and mailing NRBC nomination forms to the owners of each live foal at the time they provide a Breeders Certificate.

Stallions are promoted by the NRBC through listings on www.nrbc.com, regular advertising, press releases, brochures and materials distributed at major events, as well as in the annual Show Program, the annual Newsletter and the annual Yearbook. Plus, each year, the NRBC creates a commemorative/promotional video that is sent to each stallion owner.

For more information on enrolling a stallion, please contact the NRBC office at 580-759-3939, or go to www.nrbc.com.

New in 2013 was the Tellepsen Arena - the third competition arena for the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. Longtime

NRBC Sponsors and Supporters Howard and Carolyn Tellepsen are the namesakes and sponsors of this

new competition venue.

That arena is joined by the Coliseum Arena and the Wheless Arena (formerly the East Arena), sponsored by Wheless Properties,

a local real estate agency that specializes in ranches and

luxury estates.

Besides exposure at the show and on the web site at www.nrbc.com, there are important exposure

campaign that includes regular press releases, paid media, publicity, promotion with sponsors, a well established website, and several media

partners. The event is also marketed in NRBC Publications - the Premium Book, the Show Program and the Newsletter. More visibility is created by a DVD of the event that is created each year and distributed to all enrolled

stallion owners. The DVD is also available for purchase by the general public through the NRBC booth at the NRHA Derby and Futurity.

Estimated Visibility

Total: Almost 3 MILLION IMPRESSIONS

Based on projections from the past ten years of NRBC competition coupled with a continued aggressive marketing plan, the NRBC event organizers expect over 1,000 horses will enter the event. An expected crowd of over 4,500 contestants, fans, owners, riders, and trainers will

attend the show. Their stay can last for nearly two weeks due to participation in pre-event activities that start almost a week

before the actual classes begin.

reining event in the world. Sponsorships can be customized to create a program that is mutually beneficial for sponsor and show. The NRBC team works with each sponsor

to create a package that will integrate the sponsor’s presence into the event, will fit the sponsor’s marketing plan and create industry buzz. However, only one sponsorship per
