QUICK REVIEW•SUBJECT:

The noun. Person, place, thing, or idea doing the action.

•VERB: The action, or what the noun does.

•INDEPENDENT CLAUSE: A complete subject + verb unit. Independent clauses can stand alone as complete sentences.

INDEPENDENT CLAUSES to show a relationship between the two

•FORMULA: Independent clause , coordinating conjunction independent clause.

Hip Hop has had its fair share of new acts, and Future

appears to be the latest artist

to emerge into the public.

FOR

•Used to indicate REASON

•Example: Ms. Vondracek could not grade last week’s exit tickets, for she was too busy reading your entertaining bell ringers.

•Used for ADDITION

•Example: Hip Hop has had its fair share of new acts, and Future appears to be the latest artist to emerge into the public.

WHITE BOARD CHALLENGE•Each group/team gets a whiteboard and

marker.

•A picture or scenario is shown on the slideshow.

•You have 15 seconds to make up a sentence using one of the provided coordinating conjunctions describing the picture or scenario. You may make this up!

•After 15 seconds, hold up your whiteboard. If you’ve used a coordinating conjunction correctly, your team gets a point!
