As part of the community service work required by USP, I had the chance to volunteer with the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon. Till now, it’s my most remarkable experience throughout my stay at AUB. I wanted my social work to be about impact, helping others, and creating hope in such a world of problems and illnesses, and my volunteering at the CCCL was exactly this, not only on the children, but also on me as it has given me positivity, strength and belief like no other place.

The USP scholarship is just like an incubator for future leaders. As a USP scholar at AUB, I got well prepared to excel in my academic, professional and personal life. I am definitely a more confident, more open person ready to take on whatever challenge comes my way. As simple as it may sound, USP is like a backbone for me, it gave me people to rely on, people to share my university experience with and it gave me my best friend Yasmine :) Today, I work at a big corporate and I’ve made it my objective to bring some of that community service to my workplace. We’ve volunteered as teachers with INJAZ, raised money and cooked 2,500 meals during Ramadan that went to the underprivileged here in Dubai, we’ve held a clothes donation campaign that went to benefit the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and we’re on the way to going completely green and environmentally friendly in our office. All of this I owe to my experience in USP.

There is nothing better than finding your own passion; being a computer science graduate, I can proudly say that USP has helped me find my passion, work on it, and make the most out of it. Our decisions shape our future; the decision to be a part of the USP family and choosing to major in computer science was really a life changer for me. Thank you USP!

Now, after a four-year term as a USP scholar, I espouse a strong faith in my potential to be a successful revolutionary leader. USP assisted me with a large dose of humanity and a strong sense of truth and justice. Nothing more is needed to strive for a more inclusive international community based on the aspirations of humankind.

I can easily say that after being admitted to AUB as a USP scholar, my confidence boosted. Knowing that I am one of the few to have been given this opportunity motivated me to perform my best at all times. The community work and team experience I gained helped me seek excellence and put aside personal gain for the well-being of a group. Today, as a graduate, I am a person who is able to control a situation, rather than have a situation control me. I am mature, candid, and self-determined, and every day I work hard to improve myself and my skills, which is part of my goal, to grow in my current professional experience and work field as a whole.
